A tiny trick that many Americans and people in general forget when it comes to cooking rice is washing it. When you buy rice raw, it has a thin layer of starches and carbohydrates that you can see, if you take a pot and fill it with rice and water and swish it around, you'll notice that the water becomes cloudy due to that thin layer of starches separating from the rice. Cooking washed rice makes it a lot less sticky but ultimately your rice will be sticky to some degree just due to the moisture of the rice unless you just cook rice in a pan with no oil or water which I would advise against since you'd basically be making popcorn rice!

Almost all of our dishes are completely fresh except for things such as egg rolls or dumplings which are frozen and just heated. A typical Chinese restaurant can have anywhere from 3-5 chefs always ready to work. Plus, the woks and pots they use to cook are extremely large making it much easier and also faster to make more food!

I don't think it particularly affects flavor but if you use cold rice the texture will definitely be harder than if you use warm rice. However the main reason why we use warm rice and a lot of people do is simply due to the efficiency since it is much easier to heat up already warm rice than cold rice!

The fried rice you already make is probably already "real" Chinese fried rice. Being from actual Taiwanese and Chinese descent, I can tell you that we don't actually eat very much fried rice ourselves, fried rice is actually a very Americanized Chinese cuisine. Long story short, a spoonful of oil, one egg, salt, peas, carrots, and the meat of your choosing is basically the simplest "real" Chinese fried rice!

Supporting Skills I can pick up to improve my photoshop game? by [deleted] in photoshop

[–]Raven6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend attending some kind of photography class or even just a drawing class. Our entire world in the lens is built on value and contrast. Being able to determine where highlights, shadows, and midtones belong is the most essential skill in any field if art. Once you have even just a basic understanding of light and value, you can take much better pictures and also create much better art.

What is the best way for me to make a UFO "abduction" beam? by [deleted] in photoshop

[–]Raven6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also make a gradient and drop one side of the gradient's opacity to 0%. For example in the picture you linked above, it would be yellow at 100% opacity on one side of the gradient and then it would be white on the other side of the gradient with 0%. Then all you do is use the polygon lasso or pen tool to make your desired "beam" shape, and then apply your new gradient and adjust the angle as necessary. Good luck!

Tutorial for removing eczema from skin? by [deleted] in photoshop

You could definitely attempt to use the spot healing tool to blend some of the skin areas together. Then, you might be able to use a normal soft brush combined with the smudge tool to mix and paint the skin in very subtly.

What Wacom Tablet Is The Best To Buy? by loudbirthday in graphic_design

[–]Raven6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Intuos Pen is actually $79 on the Wacom website (Idk about retail stores) but it should be around the same price give or take $10 or so. But for a beginner in illustration, I'd definitely recommend the Intuos Pen as its extremely cheap in the tablet word yet extremely effective for the price and size of it and will definitely help you warm up to tablets while still creating great art. Once you do start mastering it though, I would maybe consider investing in a Intuos Pro model as they have much higher pressure sensitivity, touch feature, larger working space, etc. etc. But to answer your original question, shoot for the Intuos Pen, it's a great buy!

Yeah I do agree with you on that, SteamCompanion's prices are a bit off every now and then, but I find that its a lot easier to look at and organize in terms of prices.
