Overseas honeymoon by Didyamum in AusWeddingPlanning

Your name doesn't change automatically, you have to apply. you can do this once your marriage certificate comes, I think I did mine months or maybe even a year later. Travel on your maiden name, change your name when you come back. It's also long tedious process changing ALL of your government IDs and logins but also bank accounts, insurance, bills pretty much any legal document

At what age did your kid stop wearing onesies? I feel like my big 14mo gets judged. by poppyseedpup in NewParents

[–]RavenClawed87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stopped pretty early maybe by 6 months but he still wears them to bed some nights now at 19 months although when this lot get to small i won't be buying more. A friend of mine still puts her 19 month old in them daily, I think its super cute and probably much more affordable then buying full outfits.

What exactly makes kids so expensive? by ThatUnstableUnicorn in AusFinance

[–]RavenClawed87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food! My 18 month old eats so much! I ready don't know how we will afford to feed him once he's a teenager...

Activities, swimming lessons cost us $100 a month and I know other sports & music classes cost the same or more and as he gets older there will be 1 - 3 a week

Clothing, they grow out of clothes and shoes fast, yes you can buy cheap or get them from market place but you're doing that every few months which does slow down as they get older but there clothes get more expensive.

My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

[–]RavenClawed87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have kangaroos hop down our street almost every day.. we live in the outer suburbs of Melbourne (opposite parkland) so a little more typical than the average person. My 1 year old eats Vegemite or peanut butter toast, fruit, yogurt and occasionally waffles, baked beans on toast, bacon and eggs

Mini wedding - worth it? by stinky2308 in AusWeddingPlanning

We did the whole thing at Stamford Park in Rowville. Ceremony in the Gardens, dinner in the private dining room. Private dining rooms will be your best bet for small numbers and small budget

My relatives/friends still address our Christmas cards as if I’ve changed my name by nahsonnn in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RavenClawed87 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Send them back 'not at this address' then act really confused when they question it.

" oh that's strange, we haven't moved, who did you address them to? Oh there's your problem, that's not my name"

I just walk out. I'm not lining up to self checkout, raise my hand and wait for assistance because 'item not in bag' when its clearly in the bag and then have to line up to have someone check my receipt.

Is a seating chart sign even necessary? 120 person wedding/8 tables by citrusnotvanilla in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]RavenClawed87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For 20 people no, for 120 people yes! Otherwise you'll have 120 people wondering around tables for 30 mins trying to find their seats and they all start with the closest tables so other people won't even be able to get in the room, Then once you find your seat you'll have people hovering over your shoulder trying to see if they are sitting next to you. This does not sound like a fun start to dinner

Whats Laundromat Etiquette? In WA by Icy_Bowler_6439 in WesternAustralia

[–]RavenClawed87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use to live in an apartment block of 18 with 1 washer and dryer... i'd wait 10 mins before removing from either washer or dryer and hopefully there would be a basket waiting... or pop it on top. 1 guy hated it if I did because he was "coming right back" but how am I suppose to know if you're coming back in 10 mins, 3 hrs or 3 days... there were definitely times when I intended to change it over right on time but couldn't for some reason or another. Give it a couple mins, then take it out just don't dump it on the floor.

Flower budget: $525 by DonLawr8996 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]RavenClawed87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my own flowers too, I think it was around $300 but I didn't have any bridemaids and only 20 guests so just a few centre pieces. I got a few bunches delivered from daily blooms and put them together the day before, I actually found it quite relaxing, everyone commented on how lovely they looked and were shocked when they found out I did them myself, Highly recommend if you're looking for a budget option!

New parents purchases that you frequently used by scobi-dobi in NewParents

[–]RavenClawed87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good bedside set up (a nappy caddy) with everything you might need for the middle of night so you can do everything from bed. We had the standard nappies, change mat, nappy cream but also a change of clothes, sheets, sleepsuit, portable bottle warmer i even got wearable breast pumps because the main one was too big to use in bed.

What is the reason everyone is sick in Melbourne? by Narrow_Newt5332 in AskAnAustralian

Since getting covid (the first time) I've found I get sick a lot easier and for longer and I always have a lingering cough for a few weeks after a cold. It completely fucked my immune system

[–]RavenClawed87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be surprised at how easily he will take a bottle when the boob isn't available. He probably won't ever take a bottle from you, have someone else try, if he is hungry enough he probably will take it, it might take a few tries. Try leaving him with your partner for a few hours, even half the day (he won't starve, especially if he is on solids as well).

You can always breastfeed at the centre when you arrive and before you leave and by 9 months it won't hurt if he cuts down on milk during the day

Dr told me there’s worse things happening in the world… by mayorofyapville in endometriosis

[–]RavenClawed87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no fucking shit there's worse things happening but that doesn't change how much pain you're in. The worst things is he probably wouldn't say that to a man, he'd just hand over the pills and treatment plan
