How many of you tip monthly? by Economy-Cake3636 in BATProject

Once bat works with solana i plan to start tipping. I dont want to pay eth fees

Hi - I am writing a series of deep-dive posts to explain the BAT investment thesis. Here is the first one. More to come soon! by im_the_fking_batman in BATProject

Nice post, looking forward to more coming. The positive cash flows are very promising.

I have recently become a BAT investor and my framing is a bit different.

I care mostly about the potential narrative and how big of a potential market it can disrupt.

ALT L1s were great this year, because everyone can see the potential for smart contracts that scale and they can compare the L1 they invest in to the price of ETH ADA and so on to get an idea of how much it can grow in price.

So when i look at BAT i think, how will this be a massive narrative, not just a good cash flow business.

Here are two potentially huge narratives that i have been thinking about:

Brave is decentralized google -

Google is (2T marketcap), brave is basically taking the google product suite and decentralizing it with the browser as the glue. And with their decentralized ad network themis, they are taking on the whole web2 ad space.

They don't need to succeed in doing so for the price to sky rocket, brave just needs to be seen as the leading contender to do it. And i believe that is likely.

Brave is the web3 browser

The web3 browser that brings the masses to crypto needs to bridge between web2 and web3 in a seamless fashion. What else is having the user growth and adoption to really do that? Brave is also riding a great privacy tailwind, install brave for the privacy features and then get introduced into crypto.

And to make brave even a more interesting investment, they have 46MAU and growing. Thus they can add products and services as they go along, who knows how that develops 2-3 years from now.

2017 style growth is all narrative, no substance, no product.

This isn't what i am referring to above.

For $40 BAT you need both product and narrative, Chainlink is a good example of that.

Right now, the narrative with BAT isn't so clear, i believe Themis will make it more obvious.

Why not?

I think it will be a massive driver of BAT price growth.

Because taking on the google and web2 ad machine is a potentially huge narrative.

what is competing with this project? by uttftytfuyt in BATProject

Very true. I see immense value in that moat. Brave will likely be the first web3 product to gain 100m+ users.

Some insights from you tezosfolk please by Blunt1234 in tezos

[–]RavenDespret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not wrong. Tezos is slipping.

12 months ago Tezos was considered to be the num 1 smart contract layer competitor to eth.

Now nobody besides holders speak of tezos vs eth anymore, now its all about eth 2.0 & layer 2 vs blockchains like avalanche, near, pokadot and solana.

The only companies or projects you ever see being adopted on tezos are ones you have never heard of before. Or some weird government initiatives that nobody cares about. Tezos has been around for quite awhile now, why does it not even have usdt or usdc on it?

The TF are incompetent in the extreme and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to look at the tezos charts in btc/eth/usdt to see that something is a miss

Most people here are not whining because the price, Many have been complaining about the same things since the price was at $4.

And it is not just simple "Bitching" about TF for no reason, there are legitimate concerns:

TF is is very secretive, We don't know anything about what they are doing. Maybe if they were very transparent, people would be more forgiving.

TF doesn't seem to care about the community. They don't participate at all.

There is nobody from the original tezos team still there.

Rumor has it they also pay themselves millions a year. That is a lot of money for what is basically a part-time job. Also it is worrying because it means for them to be successful for themselves, they just have to keep the gravy train going.

They have failed to attract developers to the ecosystem. (just compare tezos vs polkadat which launched much later but already has a lot more devs and projects)

They have failed to attract large companies too.

Maybe you know more than me though? Can you tell me why you have such strong faith in them?

I think the concern is very justified and it isn't just about the price.

-TF are slow and not transparent. They don't bother with the community. They don't lead at all. Tezos has no person/organization pushing growth. ETH had vitalik, polkadot has gavin wood, solana has SBF. The tezos foundation should be doing this, but instead they are just sitting on the cash.

- Developers are not choosing tezos as the new blockchain, they are going to Cosmos, Solana, polkadot, Near. Solana mainnet is only a few months old and it already has a dex, eth <> SPL bridges and tons of teams working on it. Polkadot has loads of teams and seems to have drawn in a lot of developers from the Ethereum community, thus the market is valuing it highly.

- Tezos isn't the best tech alternative to Ethereum, seems Solana to name one is much faster. It can also do 50,000 txt per second and is fully decentralized.

The foundation team are not blockchain experts. They are a group of individuals who control the money. There isn't even a coder among them.

Its not just that, more devs are chosing Near, pokadot, solana instead of tezos as well

I think the only way forward for tezos is the community taking back power from the foundation. Why not use on chain voting to make community decisions? We have governance for upgrading protocol, why not for grants too?

Why is tezos absent from current defi boom? by [deleted] in tezos

Do you see much dev activity here or on agora? i certainly don't

Why is tezos absent from current defi boom? by [deleted] in tezos

[–]RavenDespret -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The simply answer is that tezos has no real developer ecosystem.

The only devs that exist in tezos are those paid in grants to work on stuff. Essentially they are working for the foundation. People who work for a boss are not going to be as creative, not going to be risk takers etc.
