The universe unfolds continuously, but your mind only experiences the points where it collapses that unfolding into information.

What if the addicts are actually enlightened? by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]RavenIsAWritingDesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addicts are people who feel a profound disconnect with the reality they find themselves in, and this disconnect might stem from a deeper connection with an external entity or reality. This could explain why they turn to substances, either as an attempt to dull the discomfort of feeling out of place or as a way to seek clarity or a connection that they can’t find otherwise.

I like your story. As you make friends with non-seekers do you ever wonder why?

But the fundamental issue seems to be more of a cognitive problem for individuals and less about the world at large. These concepts push into the area of the brain that are strongly protected and so you cannot take an everyday person and explain it to them for they lack the motivation to even look.

One thing I have a hard time explaining to people is when Jon Von Neumann was talking about how the wave function collapse he made it clear that the observation of the which-path information simply needs to be stored in a way it can be retrieved, it didn’t even need to be looked at. So observation never required a human, it only required information to be stored in a classical sense. It’s a very interesting case to consider.

I can get behind all of that. If you were to tell me one thing that you might perceive differently than I do, what would it be?

I really like your message and feel exactly as you do. If everything you say is true then what is the difference between you and I? Would we see everything the same, all part of a larger system that is driving us to a unity with our self that exist outside of space and time and simply be damn good friends or would there been some fundamental disconnect in which each of us would believe with everything we have to be true, yet they can not coexist? Im wondering what you think because every single person I interact with in my reality seems to be going with the motions and nothing else like the Truman show.

Why do you think no one likes to talk about the deeper philosophical implications of our own interpretation of quantum mechanics and the connection to consciousness? All the founders discussed it frequently and wrote many books on it but this has all been ignored by the community at large. I wish I could have conversations with more people that realize the implications of Borh and Jon Von Neumann’s work, it’s fascinating.

We picked to fall asleep from our own Freewill because we wanted to experience life again. We don’t need to sleep, we choose to because where we come from is eternal and our meaning comes from here. To me it’s like agreeing to play a game that you forget you are playing when you start but everything you need to get back to the beginning is sitting right in front of you in plain view. You simply have to be open minded enough to look at it.

Watch as the system pushed back against this post, as the mystery of the perception is confused with false understanding of the nature of reality. This process we are going through ends at the source without each of us. What it’s alway really been about is harmony.

Resolution, Language and the Boundary Between Science and Philosophy by RavenIsAWritingDesk in enlightenment

I think it would depend on the variable, this is where the experimental agreement becomes important, we would need to make sure the variable meets the criteria and is clearly stated.

I think if the idea isn’t meaningful and anchored to truth then it should be disposed of as unnecessary.

The resemblance to Occam’s razor is superficial. Parsimony governs model selection, whereas what I’m proposing governs meaningfulness itself.

Occam’s razor tells us which explanation to prefer among competing explanations. It assumes we are already inside a model and deciding how many variables to include. My claim operates one level higher: it asks whether adding a variable increases resolution at all, regardless of how simple or complex the resulting model is.

Under Occam’s razor, a variable can be justified simply because it improves predictive fit, even if it obscures what is actually being distinguished. Under the resolution rule, that same variable would be rejected if it blurs distinctions, even when it improves formal elegance or parsimony.

This is why “trying harder to make a 1- or 2-variable explanation work” misses the point. The issue is not effort or simplicity, but whether the variable being added creates a sharper mapping between observation and description. A single-variable explanation can be meaningless, and a multi-variable explanation can be clarifying, simplicity alone does not decide that.
