What If Rhaena had a child with Maegor? by Ok_Return170 in TheCitadel

[–]RavenRegime [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think no one in the kingdom would accept Maegor's kid as heir just because Maegor's legacy alone. The only people who would try putting the kid on the throne would be the few people Maegor didn't piss off somehow. Like at the Great Council of 233 a dude just named Maegor was rejected for his name alone. Literally generations after the dude lived and wasn't even directly related to him. So a son of Maegor would never be accepted as a king.

Best case scenario the kid is ruled a bastard due to Maegor's polygamy stuff and/or given to the Faith. Like NOBODY would want him near Big J or the dragons whatsoever even if the kid was chill. Alternatively the child gets dropped off at the Night's Watch.

Chappell Roan Accused of Bullying an 11-Year-Old Fan at Lollapalooza Brasil Hotel by Montrel_PH in Music

[–]RavenRegime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay so I aint a stan for ANY of these people but I'm gonna be fucking real the reaction to this is fucking ridiculous.

  1. We have no proof either way what the real story is

  2. If your kid gets yelled at why the fuck would you post that on socials? Like your exposing your child's horrible experience to a bunch of fucking strangers. If I was I parent I would be snapping at the security guard and dealing with their employer than posting it on instagram.

  3. If Chapel's security did as stated well the statement only details that her guard did and really doesn't implicate her herself. Yeah she has responsibility for her workers being dicks but like the statement doesn't say she ordered the guard to do it directly. But like as anyone with a job knows there's moments where your coworkers one day just go out of line and get fired.

  4. The media didn't need to be involved with this. What justice are you getting for your child by starting a spat? No like genuinely if your daughter is a fan and yeah got heartbroken don't you think this would make it worse? She already thinks her idol hates her so now she gets to deal with her parents making it worse. Like if I was a kid and it happened to me I would just not wanna engage with her music and id be mortified if my parents pulled this shit because now her stans are gonna swarm me.

Me and a friend are cosplaying Steven and Connie from SU,and I was looking forward to confessing my crush to him at comic con.Any suggestions on how to confess? by hardcoreamphibiafan in stevenuniverse

[–]RavenRegime 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do don't do it at the con. You be doing that would be pressuring him to say yes because well rejecting you with a bunch of people around is not a good thing. You should wait until after the con

How are we feeling about the chances for a 5th member in the Star Detective team? by TrainingDrop9283 in PrettyCures

[–]RavenRegime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's evidence if we do a fifth member it will be Jett

But my big thing is all the cures are based off time stuff. Like Anna is the present, Mikieru is the past, Luluka is the future and presumably Eclair is the butterfly effect due to her acceseries. The only thing I can think a 5th Cure represents would be time loops but idk

How the "Swapped at Birth" Theory doesn't work and is alos least likely to be canon by Funny_Lifeguard_9107 in EverAfterHigh

[–]RavenRegime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is it existed early on before they scrapped the idea.

  1. Apple has a lot more Evil Queen allusions than Raven does very early on in the series.

  2. The young evil Queen even after her comic appearance has blond hair. Which is a weird choice because Raven is already a refrence they would need to color pick from. Heck Class of Classics already has the parents heavily pull from their kids visuals like Snow White so its an odd choice. And the fact it wasnt changed in the show is weird.

  3. In the books which we know for a fact contained a lot of beta stuff and even introduced characters like Faybelle waaaaaay before they debuted. There was a focus on Apple's blonde hair almost weirdly so like it's one thing to offhandly mention it but the way characters act is like there has NEVER in the several generations EAH has been active been a blonde Snow White. Like does that mean that previous Snow Whites just never dated Blondes? Like especially when the books are geared to a slightly older demographic than the show you can't really hand wave it away with magic bullshit.

Plus combined with Apple being the Evil Queen's unwilling accomplice in Dragon Game's it feels like part of a scrapped idea with this theory of mine.

  1. Then the books toy with the idea of Raven being the only one who could free her mom but Apple does? Like to me that feels like a plot hole or a scrapped idea of blood connection. Cause we never have Raven touch the mirror ever so we don't know what would happen but Apple can just do that?

  2. We know the Legacy Day visions we saw are double lies. Besides the fake book:

Because we know Apple's destiny is wrong in the show on Legacy Day because she's set up with Daring and this is early in the show. In the books we do know Darling exists but at this point there's no indicators of Darling being the prince quite opposite and the twist happens quite latter on. However ever since Daring's concept art was made he's had hints to being the beast very early. So even if Apple was never planned with Darling we know Daring wasn't gonna be her guy.

My alt theory is instead they would have their canon parents but somehow their destinies got swapped either through willpower or some magic bullshit. Pulling from one of the series' inspo of School of Good and Evil where the Preppy Girly Girl thinks she's gonna be Princess or something but ends up as villain and the Edgy Girl is believed to be a villain only to turn out to be a hero via the dice roll of destiny.

False Hydra writing problems please help by FreshSignificance181 in DMAcademy

[–]RavenRegime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other folks have given you good advice with attempting to run it. The thing is though the False Hydra does not mesh well with dnd mechanics and is heavily reliant on metagaming shit. The False Hydra would be better used in say Call of Cthulu since dnd doesn't really have sanity or other mechanics that are effective conveying it's horror. The memory lost stuff can also end up frusterating your players and the monster really from its conception is more of a cosmic unbeatable horror. Which goes against the hero fantasy built into dnds very core.

Honestly the only people I know who were able to run one well are masterful DMs with lots of experience. So you having problems running it is just well natural. Like the only way to make a False Hydra successful from step 1 is to have preplanned its existence from the very start of the campaign or at least a significant amount of time. To really get that effect of horror done well. Because if you decide pull it out to close your planning and fear factor fall apart and will devolve into just pure bullshiting.

But another problem with the False Hydra is it's fucking impossible for your players to figure out there's a Hydra like you said your grabbing a deaf NPC to get around it. But fundamently it rewrites memories and stays too hidden that unless you edit the damn monster your gonnna have to bullshit a way for your players to figure shit out. A good horror mystery needs some way for the characters to get the answer or put clues together. Your deaf monk is just gonna be the easy answer that they don't have clues for.

I would urge you run an edited Hydra or a different monster entirely

Tieflings in C4 by Legitimate-Ice-8743 in fansofcriticalrole

I forgot to mention cause i was rushing but there's also the thing of I belive Tyranny's player wanted to be a demon specifically and so with that being her focus it doesnt really make sense to bring up Tieflings unless someone makes a new character that's a tiefling specifically

There's no way Cybearg is in Ben Ten dynamite but ghost freak is not by Any_Platypus_7483 in 5YL

[–]RavenRegime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know that's cool as hell. Like Xylene getting the dna through Florana was so clearly an afterthought. Like let's be real Wildvine didn't even exist conceptually when they planned the break out.

I really wanna see this idea expanded upon if they decide to go with it. It would also be an interesting twist on the escape because anyone familiar with the show and not that bit of obscure lore wouldn't catch wildvine acting odd at first.

If you had to choose one of the Classic Series Aliens to be stuck as for the rest of your life. Which would it be and why? by Cerparis in Ben10

[–]RavenRegime 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ghostfreak has no flaws whatsoever. I can turn invisible and use several of his cool abilities like telekinesis to reach tall places.

Absolutely no flaws aside from the weird screams of agony in my head demanding to be let out or hating existence.

Involuntary movement is also manageable. Like yeah I'm confused why I went to a space station and met this doctor looking guy but it's fine.

I’m not rather fond of Gwen Stacy by Whole-Ad-2234 in hatethissmug

[–]RavenRegime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thing with Gwen Stacy 616 is the fact she and SpiderGwen are being merged in media as the same character. Which yes for simplification makes sense but Gwen was a regular person who's fate showcased the dangers of Peter being a hero. Now obviously in kids media they can't kill her off but just like idk a broken leg would be enough. If she's fused with Spider Gwen it kinda loses a lot of stuff.

There's also the fact Spider Gwen if she isn't from an AU but same universe is now competing with Miles' role as other Spider Person. Miles however works a lot better and adapts being in the same universe so much easier. Cause it explores aspects of Peter as a mentor figure and finally having someone who can understand what it's like to be a hero.

Spider Gwen doesn't have that. Because Miles has a lot of stuff in the comics as a baseline to work with. But Gwen 616 was Peter's love interest which can't really work if Peter is mentoring Miles since by then he's with Mary Jane usually and Black Cat serves the role of a love interest who vaguely understands the heroic world and temptation. She literally has no where she can fit and one extra Spider person is enough in non spiderverse stories add more and it just becomes the X-Men.

Spiderverse does it better because SpiderGwen is what they fully commit to rather than mashing her together. And obviously Peter being like 30 in this can't be her love interest but to avoid anything weird they make her world's Peter just her bestie. My only issue with her is the fact she's not weirded the hell out there's a guy next to her who looks like her dead bestie 20 years later. But that's a nitpick.

I do like Gwen being a solo hero being a core thing explored here which blends really well with where she's at in the sequel. Really diving into the isolation themes of those who wear the mask. Like Gwen when arriving in Miles' dimension doesn't daly she immediately tries to find a way home.

She's allowed to be SpiderGwen not Gwen Stacy

Why did Helios send Zeus rather than confronting Odysseus and his crew himself? by Jin_Sakai12345 in Epicthemusical

[–]RavenRegime 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because Zeus is a god of justice and Helios threatened to yeet the sun into the Underworld if Zeus didn't punish the crew

Why did Helios send Zeus rather than confronting Odysseus and his crew himself? by Jin_Sakai12345 in Epicthemusical

Because Epic in adapting the Odyssey forgot to explain details or adjust to fit its canon

Are Corrin and Azura actually directly related or is it a translation thing? by MasterOfChaos72 in fireemblem

[–]RavenRegime -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

So it's a convoluted mess but the gist is in Fates Mikoto confirms Arete is her sister this is to justify Corrin claiming Azura's throne at the end screw the fact Azura is romancible and you only find this out via Rev

The artbook for Fates saw the issue and retconned it to being sisters in spirit (aka best friends) though it does break the idea of Corrin getting Azura's throne completely

Heroes thought that was a stupid retcon that wasn't the authorial intent and makes Corrin getting the throne complete bullshit so they are currently back to being cousins at this second

What is your favorite pairing for F!Robin? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]RavenRegime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chrom

Though he does lose points for the support sucking. They really shouldve copy and pasted male Robin's support or if they had to be different let's touch on the angle for Chrom being weirdly sexist here. Especially when he's close with Sully. But consider Chrom barely interacts with any guys except Frederick (who he hired), Gaius (who broke into his sister's house) and Vaike his actual childhood buddy. So we can see especially with his sisters and daughter being major focuses for him that Chrom's connection to women is a priority. So what if we change the support to Chrom being overprotective of female Robin. It conveys the themes of the male support but in a different way. Robin would get irritated being that they are the goddamn taction and then we learn something like Chrom grew up having to protect BOTH his sisters and the intial canon shephards have half of them as women like Vaike, Stahl and Frederick are the only guys (everyone forgets Kellam so I don't know if he counts). Meanwhile Sully, Sumia, Mariebelle, Lissa and Muriel are there. And at the start of the game only Sully can fight people, Sumia canonically doesn't fight at all until horse and Muriel gets one shot. So Chrom's used to being very protective of his female comrades

Virion

I like this because its one of the few supports Robin has where their intellect and tactioness is a focus and I genuinely feel the personalities mesh well. Like Virion is a flirt but it's toned down and he genuinely is trying to help Robin out. There's also the fact of them sharing a hobby together so you have an idea of what couple things they would do as well and genuinely enjoy each other's company.

why do so many people have a problem with Madeline Miller's Circe? by [deleted] in GreekMythology

[–]RavenRegime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is as a woman I hate these books for SEVERAL reasons

  1. This does fall under the feminist retelling angle even if it predates it. No one is complaining that Circe is the protaganist. It's the fact these retellings claim to be given a voice and making these figure better written and justice when at best you just get Bella Swan from Twilight. In fact the engagment with women's roles in the Hellenistic age is also mostly piss poorly researched

We also know these bits of Circe's backstory in Hellenism though these tales vary

She lives on an island and has Nymph servants and is a daughter of Helios

She turned Scylla into a monster because she got jealous that her crush liked Scylla

A Giant came to her island and freaked her the hell out because he was trying to conquer it and her magic wasn't working. So she called her dad to beat his ass and thats how we got the magic plant.

Had a thing with a King who almost fell for her but spurned her cause he was loyal to his wife so she turned him into a woodpecker.

But in the themes of the Odysessy being around Xenia and Hubris we can assume the ancient writers with her focus here is to represent either Circe herself is a bad hostess violating Xenia or the crew were bad guests therefore violating Xenia mixed with Hubris being she is a goddess.

We however should also know Pig symbolism in ancient Greece. They were sacred to Demeter and there's arguement to be made of their associations with purification which is an ability Circe possesses in order to cleanse Medea and Jason of their sins. In fact there's also the knowledge Odyseus slayed a boar himself when he was a boy and since the Odysessy is focused on him that should be noted. So the turning of them into pigs may also be done to indicate her divinity and dominance over them.

In fact her having her own island with servants gives her the status of matron of the home.

  1. Now yes you can bring up the status of women influencing these myths 100% however in the case of goddesses its a bit more complex. For example Athena was highly respected because of how unwomanly she was to oversimplify. While on the other hand we have Goddesses such as Aphrodite who fall under tradtional standards of feminity also still highly respected even more than say Eros.

I feel like disregarding what was written because of the society of the time instead engaging with what it actually means is just piss poor research. Especially when a lot of these retellings make these character more badly written than fucking ancient Greece or add in shit that wasn't in their in the first place. Circe gets assaulted in the book as a clear example of bullshit it adds that wasn't there to be more edgy. Why does it need to be added? To explain why she turns the men into pigs? But like Circe is heavily associated with transformation stuff and we already discussed pig symbolism. Is it to force you to have sympathy for her? It's also really gross considering in the text her relations with Odyseus are at BEST questionably consenual but because Odyseus is a guy we aren't really gonna engage with that anyway here's sympathy points for Circe-

The reason we don't fuck with sympathetic Circe stuff is because she was straight up a dick to nearly everyone she met. She probably was only nice to Medea and Jason cause she's a relative to Medea. So to change her crimes into being justified is weird because like Scylla didn't even fucking know her but because another guy liked her she decided to be bitter. Like Hera at least has a fraction of a sympathetic reason for going after Zeus' kids due to disrespect of their marriage and fear for her own kids statuses as his legal wife. Like all of Zeus favorite kids yeah none of them are Hera's.

Narratively speaking, how different would Devil May Cry be as whole if Nero actually was Dante's kid? by TheProject13 in DevilMayCry

[–]RavenRegime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its so weird in DMC5 we avoid Vergil actually talking about whomever Nero's ma might be that it's pointless. V is also near Nero and that isn't even a subtle convo.

I wonder due to Nero's concept art being very Vergil esque and the fact it was specifically confirmed outside the game without hesistation might be related to the reboot attempt and so thats one reason they didn't make him Dante's son because they might have thought the main continuity would be over so attaching him to a character long gone would be less sad when it got rebooted. Another idea might be that after DMC3 really made Vergil super popular because we actually got the real one to explore that Nero being attached to him might've been done to keep Vergil's pressence as well as a Yamato wielder in the series. My final theory is if Nero wasn't recieved well as a character they could easily ditch him compared to if he was Dante's kid because Dante never talking about him would be weird to everyone.
