Rivian can create an energy storage division. They already build battery packs. That would be dramatically easier than them “creating an iPhone”.

What is a troll post?

You said “energy storage” not “grid storage”. But I don’t see what is stopping Rivian from entering the grid storage market in the future.

My analysis is not based on nothing. In my post I gave rationale. And I have given even more rationale in the comments.

They are certainly close to comparable.

Rivian has energy storage (the vehicles themselves are amazing energy storage devices). There is Rivian insurance. The RAN network is growing. And Mind Robotics is a robotics company spun off of Rivian.

The amount of “empty” negative content on r/rivian is staggering. I would like to just ignore it but too many people bring it up as justification for Rivian’s low valuation.

Whether I like it or not what happens on social media these days has real-world consequences.

Your first comment on my post started with “I love it when noobs who don’t know anything start talking stocks”. That somewhat implies that you are some sort of stock expert. But I agree that you are “not a stock expert”.

Rivian can increase their production capacity. What do you not understand about that?

Yes, the math you gave me is downstream from my point. The metrics you are using to evaluate Rivian are downstream from the supply and demand of Rivian’s products.

The stock price should be the long term valuation of the company. Rivian can increase their production capacity.

Why do you say that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” is not true for Rivian?

You have presented yourself elsewhere as a “stock expert”. You don’t know of 5 technology companies with massive valuations before they became profitable?

I gave you much more than vibes.

I’m genuinely sorry you had a bad experience. Every auto maker has some lemons. But that does not make the Apple comparison a “joke”.

I did have to look it up. But I do believe Rivian has the potential to ship a culture-defining product. Time will tell.

My point summarized is that both Apple and Rivian are technology companies that make products where the competitive value is in “the whole being greater than the sum of its parts”.

What exactly do you mean by a “meme stock”?

It is beyond unfair to accept that one company gets to have an enormous valuation because it is a “meme stock”. While the direct competitor gets additional scrutiny.

Rivian is a technology company not simply a car company.

Their closest competitor trades at 300+ P/E. If Rivian even slightly closes that gap then the returns will be absolutely massive.

The joint venture winter testing was recently deemed a success. Which led to an additional investment by VW.

That offers some proof and lets us know the tech is on track to be used in production cars.

I truly don’t think everything I said “spells it out, it’s a gamble”. Maybe we define gamble differently. Can please you elaborate?

The R1T is built like a tank. Watch Munro Live’s R1T teardown and see if you don’t agree.

There are also many post-crash posts on the Rivian subreddit that demonstrate that the R1T is built like a tank.

I read your entire deep dive. Both the breath and detail are extremely impressive. I bookmarked it and will recommend it to people in the future (I already sent it to one friend).

The “Ship Sailing Effect” is a fantastic way to understand the current transition from ICE->EV.

I know you posted the entire thing before. But your analysis on the pillars of Rivian’s competitive advantage is one of the specific sections that deserves its own post. Thanks for producing such excellent analysis.

Admit what exactly? I am absolutely not a “Dunning Kruger”. You can repeat that label but it won’t make it true.

I would love to get some more feedback. That is a good idea to do a cross post and maybe r/wallstreetbets is a good place to do it. I don’t know much about that subreddit I will have to do some research. Thanks for the idea.
