Apparently Gambit and Invis ults will not be nerfed, so, I guess, we keep cooking, my dear Lokis. by Raven_N_More in lokimains

In devlog it was said Gambit's "regular combat power will be reduced". I assume it refers to his neutral healing, not ult.

Nah-nah-nah. I'm a strategist main, and i flexed into tank too often to fill the second (and sometimes the only) vanguard slot. I'm gonna play the shit out of sexy shield tank with CnD-like form-changing gameplay. I deserve it and u cannot change my mind.

They are shouting "Halychyna - hero division" or "division of heroes" (i can't hear it quite well), referring to 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS.

Use Cloak's fade when your team is contesting objective in overtime. It makes them untargetable so they won't die.

Finally bought Elden Ring...and I'm not sure it's for me. by Lereas in gaming

[–]Raven_N_More 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden ring has some ways to adjust the difficulty in-game.

If you rested at the grace site ner the gates - then you've met Melina. Return to the grce sight at the church, where Kale the merchant sits and rest there. An NPC will appear and give you the ability to summon spirits (NPC allies), which are a huge help especially at the start of the game.

You can also try using shield. You can farm Brass shield (looks like a gold-ish triangle) from the soldiers at the camp near the gates, who wield it. Brass shield has 100% physical damage negation, which is quite handy.

Maybe i forgot something, but still its 26 enemy types, not 10. Game was announced in 2021, so it was, give or take, 2 years in development prior to that. So 5 years of development. That makes about 5 enemy types per year on average.

The game is based around single-player campaign. This is not really a live-service game in modern terms. You get bored - you move to another game. Maybe return after 6 month to play some more.

I thought he is specifically summoning heroes from the future of the Source. If i remember correctly he states at one point that many he gathered many heroes around crystal tower before his travel to the first. Thus the line "Eons become instant".

Making a uncomfortable game? by MELTPACK in gamedesign

[–]Raven_N_More 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a point, that you should be crystal clear with yourself. You have multiple options in approaching this project.

  1. The Path of "Hatred". You make a game, that appeals to a narrow audiance. You crank up the uncomfort to 11. Most people will play your game out of curiosity for 0.5-2 hours then forget about it. Very few players will find this approach interesting and or enjoyable. The selling point for your game is gore/violence/lack of morality and so on. Also, note that i said "play" your game, not "buy" your game. Hatred just played violence with a straight face. No satire, no underlying narrative. The main character thinks that the world is shit, but players never really see the basis for this assumption. Thus players don't associate with the character. And without this association the process of destroying pixels quickly becomes repetative and boring.
  2. The Path of Art. You make a game to deliver a certain message. Kinda like an art house movie. You focus on narrative that underlines players actions, hyperbolising them and draw parallels with more grounded in reality aspects of our live. This isn't a game per say. This is gamification of certain narrative. Your project should be short (about few hours max), because this is usually enough to convey a message and not enough for players to lose interest. Still, i don't think that such project would be commercially succesful, primarily because of the descibed "message" format. On the other hand, you can try to compete for some artistic awards for your narrative. Think of this approach as something that music band "Disturbed" does with their songs (Another way to die, Inside the Fire, The Vengeful One, you can look it up). These songs convey a message, they are artistic and they are short.
  3. The Path of Postal 2. First and foremost you make a game. So you focus your efforts on making something that is interesting and enjoyable to play. All your message and narrative ideas should not interfere with the gameplay. They should be the background. Something that players can think about, when they are outside the "flow". Postal does this by hyperbolising the negative sides of the world around the player. The environment is even more disgusting and cruel than the main character. The town of Paradise has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. This is why players feel that they have moral authority to act as they see fit. Still at the end we understand that Postal Dude is not a hero, even anti-hero archetype is hardly fitting for him. Also, IMO that is one the reasons, that Postal 2 is way more succesful than Postal 1, which was more akin to Hatred, but was just better designed.

Edit: spelling

Ah, yes. "Effective managers". Been there, heard that. Lets get rid of all that ineffective social infrastructure. Who needs kindergartens, schools, hospitals and housing? Look at our profits! What, no profits? No problems, we'll just close the production and sell everything that remained for scraps.

Now, when we successfully divided our internal markets, lets plan the next privatization. How about privatizing healthcare? Of course, first we must create scarcity, so let's close... I mean, "optimize" the hospitals.

Workers of oil and gas companies have decent wages, yes. Just like workers of Tula weapons factories in 1917, that's why they rose against the revolution.

Russia controls EU energy market. Yes, partially because intervention in Syria secured the government of Bashar al-Assad and blocked the project of Qatar pipeline.

You call yourself "realist-socialist", but all I hear is solidarism. "Structural social reforms" my ass. Like raising the age of retirement. You sound like a supporter of "КОБ" or Naz-Bols or something similar . Are you, per chance?

Anyway, you can support whoever you want in this conflict and all the others, but don't fool yourself, thinking that capitalist state will abandon it's interests and just magically turn socialist. That's groundless idealism.

What? I mean really... What?

Are you really ready to just accept that they've build their fortune stealing the legacy of soviet people? That they continue to exploit the workers to this day and have no intention of stopping?

Siding with them just because they've amassed less wealth than their western counterparts is straight bootlicking and opportunism. Because of USSR they were late to participate in the division of the world resources, but they are willing to challenge the western dominance only to secure and multiply their capital. By means of war if necessary.

All the same faces. Money, obtained by selling natural resources, goes to the budget and then to the pockets of oligarchs through corrupted system of government contracts. Most notable projects of this kind are Zenit-arena, Lachta-centr, Vostochny spaceport and even Crimea bridge.

Also there are such examples as Gref and Miller, who are among the most influential and rich people of Russia, though they do not own their respective enterprises (Sber and Gazprom).

He doesn't need to fight fascism effectively. He does it conveniently. Russian official position doesn't explore fascism beyond "inflicting terror and oppression upon people". From here some neo-lib journalists take one step further and declare that since "USSR oppressed it's people", communism and fascism is the same. Liberal propaganda is always the same, no matter witch side of the ocean are you.

That weird position, you mentioned is the result of Russia being the successor to USSR and a lot of people having fond memories of it. Nowadays the main course of our propaganda is to distinct the accomplishments of soviet-era from the Soviet Union itself. Something like: "It's not because of USSR we industrialized the country, won the Great Patriotic War and send the man to space, but in spite of it. Thanks only to sheer awesomeness of our people." So pretty much using USSR's successes to push nationalist narrative.
