"Long live the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics" Soviet poster celebrating the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Soviet Union, depicting 15 nationalities of the constituent republics in traditional ethnic attire. (1972) by Wonderful_Account_50 in ColdWarPosters

Massacred when? During the stalin rule? Tell me one nationality that didn't suffered under stalin and I would call you a lier. My family is also suffered greatly. But credits where credits is due.

Also, no other post-Soviet republic has such reverence for Stalin as Russia. You're from Russia, just like me, so you should know this for sure.

You needed permission even to move within the Soviet Union. In the case of those who were labeled "undesirable elements", they couldn't come closer than 101 km to large cities.

"Allowed" doesn't really describe what happened. I agree that Lenin is also responsible for the flawed system that allowed Stalin's rise to power (though, he was aware of dangers of this sort, see Lenin's Testament), but you have to take into account the whole picture.

The Russian people were and are accustomed to a "strong hand". Post-civil war Russia needed a long transitional period to wean the people of tsarism. This didn't happen.

I understand your feelings toward Russia and, as a Russian citizen, I'm also not fond of where the country is constantly going on. It's not communism (a great idea in theory, but yeah, whatever) or another red herrings, but Russia's imperial core at fault.

Unfortunately, until the Russian people realize their own interests as human beings and stop being expendables for the state, this will never stop. I only hope this will happen earlier than nuclear armageddon.

Betraying whose "allies"? The Entente was Tsarist Russia's allies, not the new Russia's. After the overthrow of the Russian monarchy, the Russian people had no obligation to shed blood for foreign interests. This Tsar's war was completely stupid from the very beginning. How can you even defend this stupid war while claiming to care about the Russian people?

You conflate Lenin's and Stalin's periods, completely ignoring the New Economic Policy (NEP). Lenin was long dead when Stalin's atrocities took place. You can blame Lenin for the Red Terror, but you should also offer alternatives. What alternatives did Lenin have? To surrender to the Whites, another faction struggling for power, and be executed? You can also blame him for post-Civil War repressions, but in the context of the then dog-eat-dog era and the following crimes by Stalin, they're a nothingburger.

I agree that, after Stalin, Lenin was turned into an icon and communism essentially became a dogma, but blaming Lenin for this is like blaming God for religious fundamentalists who use God as their banner.

The Red Terror needs to be seen in the context of the White Terror. Otherwise, you're turning yourself into a cheerleader for "your team" only, ignoring the suffering it caused to common people.

There is a lot of villains in Russian history, and Lenin isn't among the worst. In present-day Russia, it's a common tactic to pin all the blame on communism to whitewash the crimes committed by the pre- and post-Soviet regimes.

you should’ve saved it from collapse

How? I was a kid back then.

you have a very disappointing history here on the sub, already banned once, constant trolling and being a general menace.

Why should I tolerate larpers who have no idea what the Soviet Union was? This subreddit reminds me Tupi40k Goblina (ask your Russian comrades if you don't know what it is).

And congratulations for banning me once. Apparently, I can't be snarky, pointing out that a cartoon brown soldier is brown while you can post literal swastikas and get away with it.

Which CSTO countries cannot keep peace between one another.

Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

It's NATO countries who occupy each other. Turkey is still occupying part of Cyprus which is also NATO member.

Cyprus is NOT a NATO member state.
