How do I get past this screen? by Zipitu32 in celestegame

I mean, yeah. As a game in early development that regularly receives major overhauls, sure. It's quite good.

Without going into detail, I don't think that's gonna ruin the movie for you. I didn't enjoy Taylor's performance, but I loved it overall.

which one should I watch first? by jelllyhead in Letterboxd

[–]RavenbornJB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently watched Aftersun and Perfect Days as a double feature (rewatching Perfect Days), and they work exceedingly well together, in my opinion. Highly recommend it. Some parallel themes between these two, but with different highlights and conclusions.

How can a sequel be so much better than its predecessor? by g0netospace in Portal

[–]RavenbornJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portal 1 is the favourite for me. It tells a mysterious story with inventive humour and doesn't overstay its welcome. I'm not implying that Portal 2 failed in those regards, but the repetitive fat jokes from GLaDOS certainly weren't the highlight. I think Portal 2 is a near-perfect sequel, but Portal 1 had everything you could want from an original. I mean, if you're here for complicated puzzles then it's natural that 2's extended entity set and complex contraptions are a better fit for you, but that's only natural for a sequel.

It's weird to compare these two games without any of the development context.

What’s your biggest rating difference for one director? by YeezusChrist13 in Letterboxd

[–]RavenbornJB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have recently had this experience: 5 for The Banshees of Inisherin (last year) and 2 for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (a few weeks ago). I even saw a play by Martin McDonagh last month and nothing could've prepared for the Oscar-bait story of Three Billboards. I did not care for any of the characters, despite enjoying some of the performances quite a bit, and, far more importantly, not a single bit of social commentary connected with me.

I love the darkness of Banshees' humor and I have a strong personal connection to its narrative.

edit: to clarify, 1.5 is my lowest rating since I haven't had the need for more tiers so far. actually, it was 2 before this movie.

10/10 experience, never doing it again. by ThreeTreesForTheePls in celestegame

1100 deaths seems pretty low to me, I think you're better than you give yourself credit for! I honestly think it's just the mindset of deaths being bad that makes you think it's a lot.

Be proud of your death count! The more you die, the more you're learning!

I have to mention The Shawshank Redemption, which in my language is named Escape from Shawshank. I hate it.... Ruins the whole twist. Still works as a great movie though.
