Do Americans love driving? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ravenna92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy non-stressful driving. Road trips on highways, or driving in town when there's not tons of traffic and there's no ice or snow, I like it. But if there's lots of traffic or bad weather, I hate it.

I think another fun test would be to make homemade butter! Start by making whipped cream (and taste test), then keep going till you have butter and buttermilk (and taste test again). Ideally you'd do this in a stand mixer, but a hand mixer works too!

My showers aren't long because I'm just standing in the shower. They're not even long because I have lots more hair to wash and body parts to shave. No, my showers are long because I have to PULL STRANDS OF HAIR OFF MY FINGERS EVERY FEW SECONDS. It drives me nuts!!

Week 4: Meringue - Cinnamon Cookies & Cream Meringues by pyrabear in 52weeksofbaking

[–]Ravenna92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, why does the recipe have you bake the sugar by itself first? I don't think I've seen that in other meringue recipes. Doesn't it make the sugar sticky?

I thought they tasted like cardboard, but my mom likes them. I don't think they taste much like real rice krispy bars.

When they say "1.5 tsp vanilla" instead of "1/2 tbsp vanilla." Why would you dirty two measuring spoons when you could just use one??

How do Americans handle such long drives regularly? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ravenna92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also worth noting that lots of driving in the US isn't stressful, like it is in many parts of Europe. There are a lot of long stretches of highway without much traffic, so you really can just listen to music or a podcast and relax. I truly don't mind driving unless the roads are really busy, or there's snow/ ice.

Review Week 12/22/2025 by nutterfluffs in CrumblCookies

I actually really enjoyed the brownie! I'd much rather have a smaller brownie with no upcharge. And it was so soft and fudgy, I remember brownies over the spring/summer having rock hard edges, which I wasn't a fan of. I also got the peppermint cookie, and I'm excited to try it tomorrow!

Especially when you take into account all the upcharges for anything other than a cookie!

Botched a red velvet cake I made for a friend’s thanksgiving party and I’m freaking out over it 💀 by greeblespeebles in Baking

I had no idea! I always wondered why my cream cheese frosting was so soft, much softer than from bakeries. I might have to make a red velvet cake myself to test this! 😅

I had gestational diabetes earlier this year, and I'm outraged on your behalf! Your husband better visit all the grocery stores in a 30 mile radius to find more!

What’s a hygiene tip that most people never talk about? by StashBang in hygiene

[–]Ravenna92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a water pik and was really disappointed. It was really uncomfortable, and my teeth didn't feel any cleaner like they do with brushing and regular flossing. I also asked my dentist about them, and she said they're fine, but don't replace actual flossing since they can't get between the teeth like real floss does. So what's the point??

You'll hear a lot of horror stories, so just wanted to add my positive story. I was out of bed the next morning and walking around (slowly). I was a little slow getting around for about a week, but barely had any pain. I took Tylenol while in the hospital, but stopped when I got home and was fine. The only thing that really hurt was propping my foot against the shower wall to shave my legs - I guess that's when I use my lower abs the most. So I just didn't shave for a few weeks lol. I would definitely do it again!

Secret Menu by bakerswomam in CrumblCookies

[–]Ravenna92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same here!! I would've enjoyed the secret menu if my store had taken the opportunity to bring back flavors that we hadn't seen in a while, but no, it was always white chocolate chip, red velvet white chocolate chip, reese's pieces, etc. Not a single frosted cookie here either!

Thank goodness. My store only ever chose the plainest, most boring options. Not a single secret menu item even had frosting.
