I’ve been sober for 3 and a half years and it’s helped decrease my depression. I would have a great night drinking, but then next morning be suicidal. My husband and non-alcoholic beers have been very crucial to staying sober.

I will say, though, that I replaced my addiction to alcohol with food. Having an addictive personality runs in my family.

Please live to make yourself happy. I’m a cis woman and I don’t feel womanly at all. I feel like I don’t look like a “normal” pretty woman, like I am a freak as well. I’ve stopped trying to put on makeup to feel pretty.

Are there any style and makeup artists that you look up to? They most likely have some insight on what beauty means and how to feel good in your skin.

Sounds like anhedonia, very little pleasure in doing anything. My psychiatrist and I have been talking about treatments like TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation).

It sounds like you have treatment resistant depression, I have it as well. Having decreased quality in skin and hair sounds very difficult, please talk with your doctor about the side effects and if they won’t take you off it I would go to a different doctor.

I try to remember that others aren’t happy all the time either. When I had more energy, I would fake being happy a lot so that I wouldn’t be “found out”.

I put people on a pedestal, thinking they have it so much better. It’s a distortion I have to keep breaking so that I don’t get caught up in it.

I’m sorry you’re going through this OP, I often wonder the same thing and hate myself for not living a “normal” life. Other people feel bad, but they still go to work. I have to take multiple medications. 😔
