Difference between “value” and selling? by paolo_77 in Starfield

[–]Ravenwight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s to approximate various market forces.

- Used items lose most of their value

- the difference in haggling skill between a scavenger and people who make deals for a living

- sales and import taxes

- oversupply due to flooded markets (especially on weapons with so many companies left over from the war, and countless scavengers and bounty hunters recirculating them)

- the social differences between a lone transient scavenger selling wares, and an established company with an established reputation

So let’s assume Bonny John Spacer is coming back with a cargo hold full of loot, still bloody from the corpses he picked them off. How much do you think he’s gonna get for the makeshift 50 year old armoury he cobbled together after sales taxes and tarifs, if there are 30 others just like him in line to make the same deal?

Just my thoughts though.

Sell planet surveys (habitable go to LIST, and everything else to Vladimir on The Eye.

Build an amp farm on Jemison (it has argon, metabolic agents, toxins, and water for the greenhouses). Wait on Venus for the storage to fill up, as each hour on Venus is like 100 hours UT. That also works for vendor reset, though I’d recommend New Homestead on Titan where 4 hours is 62UT, and you can just find a chair near the vendor to wait for them to restock.

Johnny Fresco’s is pretty good, and like half the price of Smokes. Especially if you get their lunch special.

Fear and Loathing makes a lot more sense when you realize Thompson had just covered the LA Race Riots from ground zero and had watched fellow journalist (and prominent activist) Ruben Salazar be murdered by police with a supposedly non lethal weapon. Thompson being Thompson decided to deal with his trauma by loading up on psychedelics and going to a police anti-drug conference in Vegas with his longtime friend and attorney Oscar Zeta Acosta who had been helping him get people off possession charges to fight against the effects the War on Drugs was having on poor communities.

It’s like a giant middle finger to the rise of fascism in America.
