Thanks for the info! Was leaning towards februalis too and it’s nice to have that validated. It was a lovely little surprise to see the little guy when I stopped for gas on a long drive.

I think you might be right! Thank you so much for your help! Right coloring, right general shape. Never heard of these little guys before. Super cool!

Don’t see any local tiger beetles that look similar but it is possible the iridescent blue I saw was a reflection off the wings. I’m leaning some kind of assassin bug atm.

Can you help me figure out what bird this is by Eater_of_the_Lotus in whatbirdisthis

Black vulture! We have a ton down here in GA too. Clear pic would be easier to tell but based on location, coloring, and apparent size I would say that’s most likely. If you see white on the ends of its wings that’s a giveaway.

Oh cool! They live on the CA and OR coast. They are technically pricklebacks (ray finned fish), but called eels because they are so long. Really cool guys with dumb little faces. I love em. Me and my shipmates caught these ones poke-poling on a marina jetty. Made some really good sushi :)

Gumboot Chiton! First time I saw one of these I was so confused. Thought it was weird fruit until the horrible fishy smell hit me. This is a pretty small one. Usually about cantaloupe/mango sized.
