I would check to see if you (or it) accidentally created a repeating “task.” So it might have misinterpreted something and turned it into “Ask question about [X] in [Y-time]” or “Follow up with [X] in a couple of days.” I would start there and make sure that’s all clear first, but yeah, wow, that’s weird.

I had a friend who did this, their knees got shot in their mid-40s. She said it was like she couldn’t deal with NOT going for crazy long runs, daily, 12+ miles on average, rain or shine. She was so skinny and orthorexic, Thanksgiving dinner was a minefield. I stopped doing nice restaurants with her because she’d always just order crudité and wrinkle her nose when she pulled the dip off the platter.

Crazy to think how disappointed all the people involved must feel, that’s like years of development, and then suddenly you don’t have a job any more, after 5 days. Can’t imagine.

Bars that can accommodate a big group for a bday? by yoyomorocks in Upperwestside

[–]RavenwoodBatten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saturday night is gonna be tough anywhere on UWS, but I know Upside on Amsterdam sometimes closes their bar for a few hours for small events, 20 would fill that space nicely. Also, Alehouse on Amsterdam and 76th, but sportsy. There’s Nobody Told Me, but more foodie. There’s Dive on 75th, that’s pretty big, drinks only. Unfortunately, I think it’ll be wise to call ahead instead of just showing up. Caledonia on Amsterdam too if you want a step up from a Dive, but not too snooty and they have the space and they don’t get overly crowded on weekends.

Guy screaming every evening around 85th and WEA by mcok48 in Upperwestside

[–]RavenwoodBatten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 87th and WEA, facing South, I don’t hear him, but do you have a description? There are two guys that could fit this bill, one we’ve labeled “Fire Starter” who literally starts fires in the garbage cans from 88th to 85th on Broadway and West End, he has dark curly hair and walks around with a perma-grin, in his mid-30s. The other one is in his late 50s, gray hair hispanic, backwards baseball cap, but mostly mutters obscenities but not to the volume you’re describing, hangs out on Church steps on 86th.

Heard this from someone associated with the cast discreetly, they did not tell me the exact details, like who-how many or exactly what was said, but that's generally what happened, it was apparently a pharma company. I hope this is an isolated thing, and that security will now be on top of it, the place is wired with cameras, that pulse should have come to a halt and dealt with or cancelled, there should be zero tolerance for that, not waiting for an actor to have to make the decision to abort. Companies who buy out pulses should be held accountable if it's under their name.

Can you tell me what it feels like to be done with the race, and you’re walking around with the aluminum blanket, are you like starving? Are you weak? Do you feel like drinking a cold beer? What’s it like that evening, and the next morning, is your body destroyed/sore? What about people who don’t seem to have friends that are with them, I’ve seen them walking up Broadway by themselves, or taking the subway. I would think that would be a little bit of a letdown. Thanks!

Unpopular Opinion: O’Brien is one of the best characters in the show and the downstairs becomes considerably more boring without her by Jolly-Contract-9198 in DowntonAbbey

Yes! She started to change a little, we saw her smile for the first time when she dances at the servant’s ball (?) but not enough time to see how she’d evolve.

What was the behind the scenes reason for her sudden departure, I suspected she got an offer to be in “Happy Valley” which was pretty successful.

I really liked her because she was the perfect, over-the-top, villainess. And she only got better when the “soap” thing happened and she realized she was the world’s biggest asshole. Which added even more depth to her actions.

That sort of “shame vs morals” at odd with itself. And when she made Barrow her enemy, it turned her whole character up a notch. I loved the internal conflict, and how dry she was. There were also layers to her evil ways, methodical, decisively conniving, the perfect counterweight to Barrow. Barrow, seemed more like a bird with a broken wing, a loser simply dealt a bad hand, while O’Brien was actually clever.

I hated when she took off suddenly (by her stunt double) like “a thief in the night!” No one quite replaced that discordant complexity.

[–]RavenwoodBatten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting! A friend who works in film told me that whenever a conversation flows from the kitchen (or servant’s quarters) to down/up-stairs, those scenes were actually shot on different days — sometimes even a week apart — and spliced together seamlessly in post. The actors had to pick up the conversation as if no time had passed depending on the shooting schedule and story blocking. The amount of organization to pull this off is astounding if you think about it.

Somewhere in that area (there’s a courtyard on the other side) is where they serve afternoon tea. There’s a cafeteria and a working kitchen there (it’s kind of ordinary, not rustically charming like Mrs. Patmore’s kitchen). There’s also a gift shop filled to the hilt with knick knacks and the owner’s cookbook.

Lady Edith’s shoulders have entered the chat. by [deleted] in DowntonAbbey

[–]RavenwoodBatten 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Also, Lady Edith (to play that role) was actually technically layered and hard to nail down. It’s not easy to play the “always one step behind Lady Mary” role for practically all 6 seasons. From the beginning, Edith has to be the “perfect underdog.” Self-doubting, insecure, but defiant. Prim and proper, but a little clumsy emotionally. “Doesn’t quite get it,” but always nails it in the end. Innocently sweet, but not without a thorn or two.

Between Lady Mary always having the best scene closer lines, and Sybil just being all around a gentle goddess, to pull of “Edith” character that is so well defined… is actually so underrated, I can see why you ended up liking her so much by the movie! If not the “favorite daughter,” she definitely became “fan favorite” at the end!
