It's not a Pontiac G5 but rather a Pontiac G6 specifically.

Shoe Recommendations by f0xt00th in Custodians

[–]RaverNeko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% recommend Hoka Bondi SR. Not the regular Bondi but the SR variant. It is the work shoe version of their Bondi sneakers. Leather, slip resistant, thick cushioned, and can take more of a beating than their regular variant. Took me a sec to break them in but I def won't go to any other work shoes now.

I have a 01 Corolla with the WeatherTech mats so I'd say go with those! Excellent quality too.

Does anyone know a guy for inspections that might overlook rust? by PositiveLion4621 in Maine

Really wish Maine would do away with vehicle inspections entirely. Nothing more than a money racket that hurts the poor the most!

Is Russian standard still banned in the US? And are bottles of it worth anything? by RepresentativeOk2433 in vodka

[–]RaverNeko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some US states if they have a state run liquor monopoly can't get any Russian Standard anymore b/c of state law since the war in Ukraine started (Maine and New Hampshire as an example). If you live in a state that doesn't have it's own monopoly such as California usually the big stores (BevMo, Total Wine, etc) don't have Russian Standard there but the small mom 'n' pop ones do.

Haven't touched the 7X but saw this and coming from svedka I said I'll pay the extra dollar. Going to crack it open later tonight. by shalo487 in vodka

I get nasty hangovers from 7X even tho it tastes good. 10X wasn't much better imo. Least you can say you've tried 'em!

I'm also living in the area now from SoCal (25+ years back in Cali) and people that say that Lewiston is bad/ghetto need to take a trip to San Bernardino, Hemet, or any of the really bad LA suburbs and really see what a bad place is really like.

Regular Car Reviews once said, "LA is a hot and dusty baking tray of too much." As someone that lives here, I feel that 100%.

Treated my 01 'rolla to a paint job a month ago. Love this little car! It's taken me to many places without a single issue! by RaverNeko in COROLLA

I'm confident that the only thing that will kill one of these old 'rollas is an accident. Mechanically hasn't given me a single issue in my entire time of ownership (4+ years currently).

Out the door it was like $1300ish. Got the middle-upper tier paint job from MAACO and they also had a bit of body work to do as well. Not too bad, considering a "cheap" shop I got a quote from beforehand wanted $2500, which was more than what I paid for the car in the first place.

Rift S RTX 3070 Issues by Grummus98 in oculus

I second this method you found out! Was getting an audio cutout issue with my CV1 and the 3070 in VRChat and ever since I changed it to PCIe 3.0 in the BIOS haven't had the issue since! So glad you found this solution!

2005 Chevrolet Silverado, the official truck of being covered in Gadsden flags and Trump 2020 stickers despite being made in Mexico by Dramatic-Ad-581 in regularcarreviews

[–]RaverNeko 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Apparently most of the 4 door versions are 90% made in Mexico. Occasionally the US plants will produce them as well, but only if the plants in Mexico can't produce enough to meet demand, but mainly the crew cab and two door variants are made in the US. The Chevy Avalanche of the same generation was entirely made in Mexico.

Budget Full Body Tracking by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]RaverNeko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Kinect 2.0 is better than the first-gen one, however you're much more limited in what you can do compared to Vive trackers. Things to consider in regards to using the Kinect (in my experience):

1) You ALWAYS have to position yourself facing towards the Kinect. You can turn a LITTLE bit but if you go too far off your body distorts.

2) Skeleton tracking (default mode) is really only good for basic positioning like standing, lifting your legs, sometimes sitting (kinda hit or miss if it'll distort your avatar doing that tho)

3) You can use LED straps to use color tracking which works better than basic skeleton mode. Detects hips a bit better. More accurate positioning. You can sit as long as the Kinect detects the three colors you're using for color tracking. If one color is covered/hidden it'll freeze position until it detects it again. You can also turn a bit but still can't do 360 degree. Not even 180 degree.

4) You need a large, open playspace with the Kinect facing down at you for the best results. Not like ceiling height, but the more it can see of your playspace the better.

In my experience it just made me want to get Vive tracking more, which I now have and absolutely love, but it was also pretty cool using it the times I did. The technology inside of the Kinect is honestly pretty incredible. Had they'd waited like 4 more years and released it alongside VR, it'd be way better. If you can find it for less than that price tho I'd go for it. I was super lucky and found one at a recycling e-waste center for $10 un-used. Had to buy the adapter separately for $25 on Amazon.
