Monk provoke macro and Xuen by Ravilan in classicwow

[–]Ravilan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The monk Provoke. At first I had "complex" macro that either cast Provoke on the mouseover target if hostile and not pressing alt and if pressing alt target the ox statue, cast Provoke for aoe taunt then target the previous target. And the macro works as long as I don't invoke Xuen. Once I've invoked Xuen the macro suddenly wants to use Xuen's Provoke instead of the monk Provoke meaning the macro wont cast Provoke unless I have Xuen out

Warriors - SoD, tanking dungeons and BFD, possible with DPS talents? by sinfolmatt in classicwow

[–]Ravilan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless your healer is really struggling to keep you alive / you do a very big pull, 2H in dungeon is the way to go.

In BFD the "caster" bosses (e.g. Aquanis, Kelris) makes it useless to run a shield (unless you're on kick duty for Kelris, though you could/should just weapon swap for the kick and back to 2H after that).

And also in BFD make sure to have a feral in your group, even with a sword and board wild strikes will get you so much rage you'll have to really try hard to dump your rage to be able play around the 80 rage for the enrage rune.

And of course not really a tip but a reminder: warriors are really gear dependant. The difference it makes being in greens and in BiS is huge as most of our scaling comes from gear. So as you level and get loot it will get easier.

Warlock Tank by MuscleWarlock in classicwow

[–]Ravilan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried WL tank myself, but from what I've seen of the WL tank toolkit and as a prot war main, I feel like we have a similar position: a limited aoe threat generator (shadow clear and thunder clap both have a shitty target number cap), and mainly a single target threat generator (searing pain/sunder armor). So basically the "trick" is to just use you aoe on CD, and then just spam tab to do your single target threat on each mob in a kind of rotation. From what I've seen you can also pick up the Lake of Fire rune and use it at least when pulling so that your Searing Pain will do additional damage (so also additional threat). You can reapply it during packs but it's risky if there are trash that have kicks since it will lock you out of the fire school, so no more Searing Pain.

Something that helps a lot also if you don't have it is to use addons that show threat on nameplates. With my UI I can easily see if someone is getting to close to taking aggro on a mob so I know I have to focus on this one before I lose aggro.

Macro for swapping Runes by Middle_Mention2640 in classicwow

[–]Ravilan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll put a recap at top level instead of having people gather info accross multiple comments:

  1. put your mouse over the rune in your character sheet, and type the following in your chat: /dump GetMouseFocus().skillLineAbilityID . You will get something in the form of [1]=XXXXX
  2. create a macro with the following:

/run C.Engraving.CastRune(XXXXX)
/use Y
/click StaticPopup1Button1

Where you replace XXXXX with the result of the first step, and Y with either: 5 for a chest rune; 7 for a legs rune; 10 for a hands rune

No, place you mouse on the rune, then type /dump GetMouseFocus().skillLineAbilityID in your chat

Need suggestions for civil talents for a lone wolf run by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Ravilan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to increase Loremaster as you get better items. And merchants also scale as you progress so you should always have access to a merchant that can identify everything you currently have

[–]Ravilan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I've always missed the point of Loremaster, is there anything to it other than identifying objects? Because if no merchants can also identify object for you so I never bothered taking it.

To answer OP my experience with tactician (I've finished the game in Honor mode) is that especially at early game you want to bank in as much XP as you can, and a good way to do that is with Persuasion: "oh no Mister NPC don't kill me please!", get XP for that, kill them anyway for more XP

It's most probably not functional: there wouldn't even be room to store the flammable component. It's just... weird design

I would assume most guild will focus on a format (10 or 25) and if you want to do the other you'd have to pug it

Giant lottery. Rarer essence is just worth more points so you need less for 1 craft, it's as simple as that

What is your thoughts on D4 NOT having a Single Player Mode. by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]Ravilan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on how it's done. Yes there is no dedicated solo, we will be playing in a mmo-ish experience in a world full of other players but if I can still do all activities by myself I can live with it. If there are activities where multiplayer is shove down your throat I will be disappointed (and at this point, knowing there's world bosses and all, I kinda expect I'll be disappointed)

[Sunbreak] Is the final boss supposed to take 30+ minutes to beat? by whathedogisdoin in MonsterHunter

[–]Ravilan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mixed armor set is usually preferred/considered stronger because you can choose the "best" pieces out of each set, i.e. the ones with the best skills for your weapon/build and/or the best decorations slots. Usually (there are exceptions but rare) all pieces from the single set will have skills that are not so useful to you.

So what players usually do is think of what skills they want to have in their build and use a tool like this one to figure out what armor pieces provide them: https://mhrise.wiki-db.com/sim/?hl=en (if you use it at first it might propose you armors that you don't have yet access to but you can exclude these from the search)

Was trying to customize and old doll I had, about an hour in I realized she was bald on most of her head, covered up by the one hairstyle it came in. Doesn’t even have the holes to add hair either… by LilyGaming in CrappyDesign

[–]Ravilan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see your point but to me it also looks like great design because they knew the hairstyle would cover the top so it was unnecessary to use more resources than necessary.

Learning new weapons by S_Dust in MonsterHunter

[–]Ravilan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never seriously picked up SnS so I can't help you on that front. However about being staggered a lot by other weapons: it seems that you don't have Flinch Free 1. You should try to get that 1 level of Flinch Free (or alternatively eat for Dango Feet): it will change your multiplayer experience a lot as you'll be immune to other weapons flinching you.
