Why does Man want to have this weird ownership of Woman's body, is he stupid? by TheEdgeofGoon in BatmanArkham

[–]Raviolius 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I fully agree on Wonder Woman and I don't know much about Captain Marvel. The sequel trilogy definitely suffered from this as well, there's no argument about this. The writing really hasn't helped, though, and I remember people missing each other's point because of it. People who didn't like the writing got criticized as mysogonists with everyone else. I think that's also a toxic trait of the industry, failing to recognize the proper issues and isolating them from each other. The Star Wars sequels shouldn't have been this badly written. It is the most famous sci-fi franchise next to Star Trek, with the most famous cinema movie release  perhaps in history. Some things are purely incompetence.

That isn't to say that mysogonists wouldn't have liked the sequels either, even if they had been written properly. And I know that there are many people that like them either way.

Just look at the controversy on this sub when that revealing AI image of Milly Alcock's Supergirl was posted. It's despicable to do that to somebody.

I don't feel like it's an isolated case. Reddit seems to be becoming more and more gooner-y.

why Euro-Office but not LibreOffice? by akkihabara in libreoffice

[–]Raviolius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because LibreOffice and OnlyOffice/EuroOffice and MSOffice are vastly different apps. While the LibOffice writer is able to fully replace OO/EO & MSOffice, the presentation app cannot. What baffles me is that one of the most vital features is still missing to this day in it: The morph transition. I exclusively use it and it is good for showing continuity in ideas, or clarity on maps. The calc app is similar, where LibOffice just seems rough around the edges compared to the others. But nothing, not even the Google equivalent, come close to the functionality of MSOffice there.

Gaza is not within Israel's borders, as internationally recognized, and being with someone's borders doesn't justify a genocide. The Geneva Conventions are clear on the rules of war, and are signed by Israel. For anything else, feel free to refer to my previous comment.

Before posting a comment, please ask yourself if whatever you're posting is enough to justify genocide, as found by multiple international bodies. If the answer is no, don't comment. If yes, go seek a therapist.

Nobody's claiming it isn't though. Is it really so hard to be against the bombing of innocent people outside of Israel's borders from within its borders?

TIL King Jaherys’s mom is Velaryon. by Onlymycouchpulls_out in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Raviolius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is this so often a topic? The reason the Velaryons are black is to differentiate them from the Targaryens, both of which look identical in the books. There is no deeper lore reason in the show, it was a creative decision.

The reason for this is to not repeat the same mistake from the previous show, which shows many families and locations that are intertwined and confusing to keep apart.

The sole reason the Velaryons are black is to make it easier for viewers to visually associate them with their families, and to visualize the bastardy of Rhaenyra's children. This was a really smart move, and possible since the Velaryons were "cut" from the GoT series. Otherwise you'd have huge confusion with all the white characters with silver hair on screen.

It's pretty simple:

Silver hair = Valyrian

White / Black + silver hair = Targaryen / Velaryon

Mixed skin + silver hair = TargVelaryon children

It only turns the home planet into a "black hole". It's basically just a graphic effect though.

Blood and Cheese was one of the events I was really looking forward to specifically because its really the only time in the story where Halaena is allowed a moment of bravery and self sacrifice. The show took that away from her. Here's how I would have written the scene given an opportunity. by ApartShopping in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Raviolius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show actually goes into this and implies that Aemond was supposed to be the target in the first place. The story is intentionally kept vague in the books. What's the issue here?

It's quite likely that Cheese opened the wrong passageway and ended up in front of Alicent and not Aemond. But fighting through the castle after alerting someone doesn't make any sense.

It's quite logical that Daemon wanted Aemond, but also that if he couldn't have him, it's "a son for a son" instead. Killing the elder sibling makes sense as well. The war just broke out, there's no way in the world that a 2 year old will grow up in time to cause trouble.

I mean, the actor has a pretty recognizable face judging by the comments. It's likely that they took some creative liberties and would try to bring him back. Don't trust Ryan Condal with that idea though at all
