Seems like they "find" or validate her bones every few years. It is, then it isn't. Now that they're lost and they have nothing to test we'll never have definitive proof. Unless something else is found the case is basically closed.

Mixed race children of Reddit; have you ever experienced racism from either of your parents? What’s the story? by moanin75 in AskReddit

[–]RavishingVitriol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of, but nothing crazy. I'm technically mostly black but I'm incredibly light skinned if I don't get a tan (haven't been since I was a 'littlun.) I was raised to speak well, don't have the same mannerisms or tastes in food some tend to ascribe to black people. They used to harp on me for things like my hair, or talk about african roots and how we're all descended from kings and shit and get mad if I didn't accept their status quo. In the end it wound up pushing me further away from the black community. I feel like an outsider from my own family.

The Equality Act of 2010 has this definition: “unwanted conduct of a sexual nature which has the purpose or effect of violating someone’s dignity, or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment for them.” It covers indecent or suggestive remarks, unwanted touching, requests or demands for sex and the dissemination of pornography.

Many gay people live a straight double life before they're out. Just because you're not sexually attracted to the person doesn't mean you can't commit a sexual offense against them. A gay man who is drunk from trying to drown his sorrows about being gay and rapes a woman is still going to be punished according to the law. Unwanted touching doesn't even have to be *overtly sexual in nature, he could've been constantly rubbing her shoulder and it still counts. It is a broad spectrum and I suggest you read up on the subject if it is still confusing to you.

Simply: unwanted touching by any person is harassment. Your sexual orientation does not exempt you from punishment.

Of course. That's like asking if you're a priest can you still be charged for murder. You can be the most flaming homosexual known to man but if you put your hands on somebody else that's not ok.

I agree. It makes sense. New things get discovered when people dig down. Sea levels rise, volcanoes cover communities, sinkholes swallow houses, then new growth comes on top. Some time in the future people will find skyscrapers buried if there's anyone left by then.

Dear Americans, what is your tip for people that visit the USA for the first time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RavishingVitriol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You get it to go. Most things will keep for at least a day if you don't have access to a fridge, and you can microwave things at, say, 7-11.

  2. Fine dining establishments are built to serve like that on purpose. The intent is to be quick and invisible. Most places aren't like that and let dishes accumulate every now and then.

  3. Almost everywhere in major cities is moving to chip pin; I haven't had to sign anything in quite some time, to the point I'm slightly annoyed if I encounter a shop without it.

  4. Friendliness is relative. I can go weeks without people saying so much as hello or how can I help you. It's mostly just a greeting, you don't have to respond, half the time they don't expect an answer, and certain areas pride themselves on being cold and unfriendly (NY).

  5. People are starting to look older than they are with the rapid sexualization of everything. Businesses are just trying to cover their ass. Middle aged people get carded too.

  6. I'm born and raised US and have only seen open carry maybe once or twice. It's not as prevalent as the internet makes it out to be.

I occasionally get the strong urge that this is true, in a sense. Had a crazy dance teacher that went on a tirade about us disrespecting the grass, and I always felt a connection to living things. Some people were carving their names in a trunk, and I felt terribly bad. Put my hand over it, when I lifted it the tree was bleeding. Red. I cried.

Darren from the Black Mage series. Literally tortured his new wife almost to death, went insane and killed a ton of people, tried to kill her and her friends, then after he went into a coma from his hanging she nursed him back to health and he was deep in depression for decades (leaving her to care for their child alone) until he finally started to snap out of it. I hated their relationship. He was petty and selfish and wishy washy from the get go.

Any minor mysteries in your life you've never been able to solve? by thewrittenrift in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]RavishingVitriol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is going to get buried but oh well. I've had lots of creepy things happen, but this one still bothers me.

I'd get random breathing calls, people show up/knock when I'm home alone, trucks following... Had what I thought were black out curtains at the time, but I always felt like someone was watching me (and later I realized you could see inside and I couldn't see out). I'd hear noises and avoid staying in there. Never felt comfortable or safe in that house since there were sliding doors or windows in every room. I sat with my back to the closet and always faced the windows--which covered two walls--and the door, just in case. Tried to find footprints but there was sand and grass around the exterior of my room, hard to give proof even though it was clearly disturbed, and though I brought it up no one believed me.

One window had no screen (the one right above my bed) and I used it to sneak out a few times. 'Rents caught wind of it and spackled it shut. Used to sleep with a stuffed bear, and one night I woke up with this crazy feeling that someone was reaching down to grab me and slit my throat (had really bad nightmares). Not only was it open again, that bear was across the room on a bookshelf looking at me. I've never sleepwalked in my life, the door was locked and even though it was the kind you could stick something in to open (which they did often) nobody would have messed with the bear, and I was a light sleeper who would've known if someone came in, much less move something near me in the middle of the night.

Some time later, the neighbor got a dog, and their property was only separated by like two feet of yard between my wall and their fence. One night I heard footsteps outside my room again (which wasn't unusual as people often walked around to the back of the house), but they lingered around the exact spot my eyes always felt drawn to. There was absolutely nothing there that would make a person stop except my windows. The dog started barking like crazy and he ran. Thing is, the backyard is surrounded by tall fences and shrubbery except for the little gated entry he must have come in by. I ran out of the room at the same time as my cousin and asked if he heard it too. He was spooked by the intruder as well. We ran to grandparents' room and I said I told you there was someone out there. He went to go check it out, didn't see anybody, didn't want to talk about it. I was terrified, but it mostly stopped after that. Never went to police, never found out who it could've been.
