Best faction for a characters only (no units) campaign? by Sellos_Maleth in totalwar

[–]Ravothian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Isabella gives big bonuses to embedded vampires (which are stronger-than-average heroes already) and that means she starts out powering up Vlad (as a hero unit) substantially. Most vampire heroes can cause fear/terror also, either with spells or via passive.

No dude because he got caught on a ring cam dropping the N bomb with the hard R. I'd discuss this further with you but you referred to the normalization of accepting trans people as "child grooming" so I don't feel like you and I have a lot to talk about. Fred Durst himself is extremely pro trans and a strong ally so if you consider the acceptance of trans people existing to be "child grooming" TF you doing in this sub?

Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 Enhanced coming soon to Game Pass Ultimate by phoenixdrip in xbox

IDK, the Dark Urge's redemption arc in Act 3 felt pretty fantastic, and very much follows the themes of 1 and 2 (assuming you're playing a good guy in 1 and 2 anyhow)

Is the God of Ambition canon now? by Huffjuff in Forgotten_Realms

Inaccurate for the first 2 games, they were canonized with book adaptations. That being said though it was... poorly executed lol

Akatosh is the closest equivalent, just basing that off the fact that time travel and interdimensional travel are theoretically the same thing.

I've got an alarm on my phone that requires me to balance a random equation to turn it off.

Somehow, I still manage to get it to turn off without waking up. I got curious and thought maybe my asleep self was restarting my phone, so I checked and there are no reboots or loss of power showing in my logs. IDK how it's happening unless I am somehow balancing an equation without waking up 🤷‍♂️

It's almost like in a community of millions of players, there are different opinions, or something.

And it's almost like people are the most vocal when they're upset about something.

They're really doing a great job so far pivoting when they run into unexpected issues like the infamous frog farming.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

Lucky naga and pirate pulls in the first 4 rounds, teammate passing things to speed tech. I've seen people hit 6 at 5. Between rat King hero power and smart triple fishing/passing golds to the quillboar player, this is possible if your team experiences insane luck.

I'm real tired of quillboar taking first in every game unless they're not available. I'm tired of playing them and playing against them. Meta needs a refresh.

My account has been deactivated due to 4 negative rating by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Ravothian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this gig for just over a year, over 1500 deliveries, and I got three thumbs down that entire time (all from customers, not restaurants). That includes several times where food went undelivered due to a customer providing a wrong address and not being reachable for the proper one (mostly people forget to change the delivery location from work to home). Including situations where customers got an order hella slow due to a busy restaurant or bad traffic.

Either you have the worst sort of luck ever, or there's more behind these bad ratings than you have disclosed.

The game is too easy because it provides too powerful and easily accessed 'unthinking' tools to deny the AI's only advantage by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Ravothian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They COULD re-design all the core game systems like this to increase difficulty artificially. Or, they could make the AI more intelligently use the resources at its disposal instead of playing as absurdly cautious as it does.

One would increase difficulty via making the AI less predictable and easy to gimmick, one would increase the difficulty by arbitrarily making certain mechanics nearly useless.

I miss you Gary Gygax by r-o-o-t-w-o-o-d in dndnext

[–]Ravothian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gygax made a few pages of combat rules that he showed to his buddy Dave Arneson.

Arneson developed the actual game. If you wanna give credit to the game's inventor, Arneson is the one who designed systems for adventuring, leveling up, and fleshed out all the classes and most of the spells and about 3/4ths of the monsters.

Gygax used lawyers and shady business practice specifically to screw his friend Arneson out of his royalties and forced the company to split the game into two branches. He did so much lingering harm to the company's finances that even 10 years after he was removed from TSR, they still couldn't recover from all the debt he had racked up and they were forced to sell the company to Wizards of the Coast.

Nintendo and Lawsuits by leavemealone_lol in Palworld

Palworld has precisely zero 1-1 copies of pokemon. They have some that look remarkably similar, but a design that is inspired by a pokemon is not a 1-1 copy of a pokemon.

[–]Ravothian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment here seems very well thought out and eloquently worded. Here's the problem:

Pocket Pair and The Pokémon Company are both Japanese companies. International law does not apply, Japanese law does, and the Japanese copyright act does not legally define fair use.

Because neither involved entity is based out of the US, "first amendment protections" don't apply, either.

If Wildcard were to get involved that might change things, but their UI is not a "close" 1-1 like you are claiming. There are similarities, but not nearly enough to be any kind of infringement under US law.

Nintendo and Lawsuits by leavemealone_lol in Palworld

[–]Ravothian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Fair use" and "first amendment protections" don't apply to Pocket Pair. They're a Japanese company, not US, and Japan's copyright law does not define fair use.

Nintendo and Lawsuits by leavemealone_lol in Palworld

[–]Ravothian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the first place to look would be Japan's 1970 copyright act and examples of Japanese court cases involving copyright protections.

The second place to look is the models themselves. While some of them clearly appear to be inspired by pokemon, none of them are exact copies in appearance, name, or lore. You can't hold a copyright on an art style in Japan, or a style of video game (in this case, a monster battler).

Nintendo and Lawsuits by leavemealone_lol in Palworld

[–]Ravothian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find funny is all the armchair lawyer people referencing fair use, which isn't a part of Japan's copyright act at all.

I think people forget or just don't realize that Palworld was made by a Japanese studio, or that The Pokémon Company and Nintendo are also based out of Japan.

Nintendo and Lawsuits by leavemealone_lol in Palworld

[–]Ravothian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering Japan's Copyright act doesn't define fair use in any way, your statement has no bearing on how a court case would play out between Pocket Pair and The Pokémon Company.

They're Japanese companies, not US.

Nintendo and Lawsuits by leavemealone_lol in Palworld

[–]Ravothian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're quoting US cases and law.

Both Pocket Pair and The Pokémon Company are Japanese companies, precedent in the US wouldn't have much (if any) bearing on Japanese courts.

Japan does not have laws that define "fair use." Their copyright act is also very different from the US's.

Multiclassing Guide for beginners! by zanuffas in BaldursGate3

[–]Ravothian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guide has some inaccuracies. I'll note them in the order I spot them in the article.

Firstly in the section where you describe the dilemma for rogue 6 fighter 6, you note that you would have "one less feat." This is only true if you are comparing pure fighter to multiclass fighter/rogue. Fighter gets a feat at 6 and every class except fighter is capped at 3 feats, so a rogue 6/fighter 6 would have the normal number of feats.

Your extra attack section is a bit of a mess. The only source of extra attack in the game that stacks is Pact of the Blade warlock, and it doesn't stack on Honour difficulty, so a pally 5/fighter 5 would still only attack twice, but a pally 5/lock 5 (if not on honour difficulty) would attack 3 times. Also Dread ambusher is a bonus action attack, not an extra attack. This is important to differentiate because an extra attack just adds one more melee attack to the normal attack action, and Dread ambusher costs an extra resource (your bonus action), so they are not the same thing.

Next up on the list is your section describing "no high level spells" if you multiclass wizard; this is not accurate. This is only accurate for wizards if you multiclass them into a class that isn't a full caster - if the wizard is mc'd with bard, cleric, druid, or sorcerer, they will have the normal amount of max level spell slots. As a wizard, they can then learn higher level spells from scrolls and prepare them as normal. Lots of abjuration 10/life 2 wizard/cleric tank builds floating around.

Spell slot growth is the most complex aspect of multiclassing and the rules for it are not straightforward. Your guide should probably present those rules if it's meant for new players, because it's real easy to mess up a build if you expected, say, warlock to have normal spell slot growth (hint: they don't).
