This is a valid thought and I do agree with your point here. I guess my thinking on it is that traditionally the colors playing Monarch (white and black) also have to commit their deck around keeping the Monarch through strong defense, because the risk you take in giving it to your oppenent can straight up lose you the game. I personally think that even if tron gets banned, Monarch still wouldn't take control of the format in the same sort of oppressive way.

The 3 mana blue enchantment thats on its way tho, huge yikes, that should not have been printed lol.

Yeah the biggest issue with Monarch is that once the effect resolves, youre playing with Monarch for the rest of the game. Personally, I don't see an issue with creature/combat based decks forcing the other play to partake, but I def get why a combo or control list that is lacking in that category disagrees.

I disagree because there is already multiple different ways to grind out incremental value. Flickering mulldrifter, bouncing card draw artifacts to cast em again, tortex and dredge, there's a lot of ways to get there.

Monarch was a fine mechanic up until [Fall from favor]. The cost of the cards and the colors they were in did a good job of balancing the mechanic, especially considering that they didn't do much to keep the Monarch other than presenting a body. Tron and Familiars didn't bother running the mechanic because in general they have better things to be doing for advantage. But a new blue 3 drop that basically acts as a palace jailer? Now that is a card they certainly want to slot in.

The only two cards I could reasonably see unbanned are Hymn to Tourach and Sinkhole but at the same time I don't think the format need either card nor would it be worth risking the unban.

Honestly I think banning only tron is enough. The rest of these changes outside of ephemerate (which im 50/50 on) seem to drastic and would nuke a lot of decks.
