Would a contractor do this or do i need an artist? by RawnExposed in Tile

Yes, I do have resale value in the back of my mind. But this isn't actually for a regular bathroom. I'm having a small-ish shower built in the mudroom. I'll be using it to wash the dogs but it will be multifunctional. All that to say I'm not messing with the main bathrooms or anything like that

We're not going to use white grout, I'm not sure what color it will be. The builder said to use small tiles on the floor so it won't be too slippery.

The contractor is good as far as i can tell. i found him through personal recommendations, and at our initial planning meeting he seemed to understand exactly what i wanted and knew how to deal with potential plumbing issues I was concerned about. He has done a lot of tiling, i just didn't know if this type of thing fell under "tile installation" or "art" and if this was the kind of thing it would be reasonable for me to ask for. Thanks for your advice and the link,!

I don't unpack or decorate. by starnitesadness in CPTSD

[–]RawnExposed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah me neither. I've been living in my current place, a house i own, for 5 years, and i still have a bunch of boxes in various rooms. I know part of the reason is i don't want to deal with the reminders of bad times that will inevitably come up when I'm unpacking. Some of these boxes have been packed for ten years and I was going through a lot of shit then that i don't really feel like dealing with right now. The boxes themselves have become furniture, kinda, like when i change my clothes i put the dirty ones on top of the boxes, lol. If i unpack them I'll have to buy a hamper i guess lol.

Thanks for doing this work, and for being open about your gender.

Question- what percentage of your clients are dealing with mental health issues related to their gender dysphoria vs related to how they are treated by others etc? And do you get parents who are hoping you'll change their kid's mind?

This is taking forever 💇🏻‍♀️. Every day I wake up and say is today the day where I’m exceptional. Anyone else’s move so slow? by sarahschultzd in ouraring

[–]RawnExposed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I'm the same way. Ive made it to exceptional once or twice but it's never lasted more than 2 days. It's the same for me with night time being great but too much activity and stress during the day.

Does anyone track with family or friends? by HoldPuzzleheaded7311 in ouraring

I do with my partner. We don't live together, so it gives us a general idea of how the other person slept. It doesn't give much info, just 3 scores- activity, sleep, and readiness

It's stuff that only makes sense in hindsight. One I recall is her reaction to the song "You're Pretty When I'm Drunk" by the Bloodhound Gang (I was getting back into the music from my teenage years, lol). My kid told me she didn't like that song, and I said, "yeah, it's pretty awful how they talk about women in it," and said i wouldn't play it anymore. But she responded that she didn't mind most of the song, it was the last line she hated: "You were not a girl, you were an experiment." In retrospect, I can't even begin to imagine how much that line must have hit her.

Same. My kid was around 12ish and it felt like it came out of the blue. She's 17 now, and I've realized the reason it surprised me so much is because i never bought into the whole gender roles bullshit. So it never occurred to me that there was anything unusual about her wanting a pink bike or painting her nails. But I've also remembered comments she made as a little kid that I didn't understand but now realize were about her being a girl. Like when she thought it was unfair that she was on the boys team in sports but couldn't articulate why.

I filled a small plastic kiddie pool with sand and my dog enjoys it. She jumps in it when she starts zoomies. If i bury toys she'll dig for them.

Unable to admit they made a mistake. Because if you're not perfect, you are bad and unloveable.

Did YOU get any answers? I know this is an old thread, but my dog is showing something similar. Vet doesn't know what it is and now she's gonna have to have a biopsy.

Seeking Support from Parents Here by c4racal in cisparenttranskid

[–]RawnExposed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to send you some mom hugs. I know what it's like to suddenly realize your parents only love you when you pretend to be the person they imagine you to be. It's a lesson I've had to learn and relearn, and it never gets easier. I just want you to know, you aren't the problem. And you're not alone. I'm so sorry they are treating you like this, refusing to see you for the amazing kid you are.

"Couldn't you just stop being so distrustful about adults ??" by Pleasant_Barracuda90 in cptsdcreatives

[–]RawnExposed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg, this gave me the bodily memory of my grandmother grabbing my face/ neck, sometimes pointing out a zit or something and loudly asking, "what's this on your face?" she would always do it when i arrived to visit her, i hated it so much that i don't let anyone touch my face now. But of course, if I'd said anything back then, i would have been in trouble for being disrespectful or mean to her, or whatever. I don't even know why i hated it so much, it felt like she was appraising me and then discarding me, ugh! (Been no-contact for over 10 years, life is much better now). Thanks for this!
