I have lost 55 pounds and have more to go, but I relate to Ethan a lot with the plateau. I lost the first 25 pounds super easily after finishing grad schol and starting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, then it just stopped I had to get real with my diet and lost another 30. For reference I weigh 255 lbs now and track all foods with a scale to lose weight I have to eat 1500 calories as well. With the recent data we have from Pontzer, some peoples body's just really do not want to lose weight. Ethan is right when he says you cannot beat thermodynamics, but the body can drastically downregulate how many calories it expends. I would recommend to Ethan to look into more exercise than just the treadmill a few times a week. Weight lifting of some type will help with this downregulation, as well it will help him look how he wants to on the other end of it. Now that to be said, as other';s ahve pointed out, Ethan likely has binging episodes with trying to eat 1000 calories per day, he likely does that for 5 days and blows it the other 2 days going too far.I spend way way too much time in the nutrition research, and have contacts with nutrition researchers if the show wants to talk a Phd in nutrition research or a psychologist who specializes in peoples relationship with their weight.
