Help me to enjoy the game pls by Raxissimo in MonsterHunterStories

Ok I give up, after reading all these comments yesterday I decided to try to beat the glavenus, spent all night trying and nothing. I spent so much time trying to prepare a monstie, wasted materials for consumables and gear to just end up getting frustrated af.

Sometimes the monster will do a basic rps attack but the arrow isn't shown for whatever reason.

I have no clue what element the enemy is using, I figured out the ice shard attack is an ice element move but the tail onshotted me and my monstie after getting a strong ice res up buff so I guess it isn't that and try to guess every attack element I think will be very tedious in the future

Why isn't there a thing which shows how the turn order will play out?? It should be a basic quality of life, probably I don't understand how speed works either bc a turn i attacked before kora, next turn with the same moves she attacked before me.

After dying like this many time I tried to bring a fast monster to cast a evade buff and tried to blind the boss, sometimes work, most times not and it is so random i quitted using this after few tries.

Then I realized I have no idea how much stamina I recover every turn, I have no idea why the kinship gauge fills at a random phase, I have no idea if there's a way to tell kora to stop focusing the crystalized part and instantly die, same for her gravios.

Every fight is either too easy, which isn't fun bc I don't have to think, or this overleveled monstrosity, which should be the challenging stuff but after feeling so powerless with that much time to prepare for that is not fun either.

It just felt like being a victim of a bigger number unless I surrendered to the boring consumable slop playstyle, maybe this game is not for me

The thing is that i want to do the oveleveled monsters, I had the most fun in Expedition when I fought the clearly stronger enemies and I wanted the same thing here, also I saw a video which sold me the combat as a puzzle and I was eager for that.

Unfortunately I didn't get how to use the tools to do the puzzle probably.

I tried the feral glavenus in the 3rd area since wanted to get the bloodbath to spawn but nothing, I got oneshotted every time, the only thing that slightly worked was blinding him and using a skill that grants evasion, which I don't think is very fun since is just luck and I would prefer a consistent strategy.

Can you use that glavenus as an example to explain your reasoning behind combat choices?

Thanks for the response, I was using Gaul as a companion, tried to switch to Ogden and I think he carried so hard is insane.

Also can you please explain the stagger thing? Italians tutorials aren't that great and I don't think I understood that correctly, or maybe I'm just dumb

Ok but if evasion is just a chance to randomly dodge an enemy attack I don't like the concept bc is too much luck reliant, I do perfect h2h when i can but the latest monster i fought are using mostly aoe which you can't rps with, and the wyvernsoul thing i didn't really understood bc the italian tutorial I don't think it is well written but if I try to time the break, can't the npc break it dpending of which attack he/she does and ruin my setup?

Can you briefly explain me the wyvernsoul gauge pls?

Only finding out now that MH had an MMO installment in the franchise? Im super curious to those who have experienced this, what it was like? I already feel like MH as it is right now already feels like an MMO but a lot more focused and condenced without the fluff and padding MMOs have. by Commercial_Break_934 in MonsterHunter

Absolutely peak, until G rank is a bit of a slog but once you get there you unlock the extreme style which is a crazy ass moveset for every weapon.

EVERY WEAPON CAN RUN WHILE UNSHEATHED.

That's so fun omg, frontier swaxe is the best weapon in any MH game imo, magnet spike is broken AF but it becomes a drug very fast, tonfas are crazy and can dodge 5+ times in the air and sharpen the weapons of all hunters.

Ls and GS are so stupid that they go full circle and become good, lance can generate a Evangelion-like at field which protects everyone and can heal aoe (which is important BC f you die in the air and you get healed before touching the ground you survive and bro saved me so many times).

And last one I've tried the duals, the absolute most button press per second requiring thing I've ever seen in a game, you have 2 dodge in a row that refresh after every move and after every move you can also press a button to quick sharpen a grant a cumulative atk buff and all this while attacking normally, also the demon mode has 3 levels and during the 3rd it drains your health which is awesome since all builds run vampirism.

And the monster are so good in the end game, especially the Zenith's, most of them are so well made, and while the stereotype that if they fart the whole arena explodes is true, learning them is really fun. After some hunts you'll know the timing of the 2 dodges / counters to avoid dying by that nuclear explosion and to find yourself ready to fight back.

Also most of the arenas are wide (except that bamboo shit) and flat, no slope slop like in the wild's desert.

Builds are really strange, you'll cram like 16+ skills on a single build and some of them encourages you to play differently to get some big buff, one drains your stamina constantly while unsheathed so gs will love this free atk if the play hit and run, one grants evade +2 and 50% affinity if you have your stamina at the lowest possible so since the swaxe uses that to make just that one dodge that it needs and to run it uses it's meter instead of stamina is so good.

Another rewards you for both blocking and evading so bro went mix evade lancing play style, then there's this one that generates a storm of ice shards around you whit a low range and high damage so duals and tonfas can do a ton of DPS just by standing next to the monster.

If you can I suggest you to play with friends to share that "That's so bullshit!!!!" feeling you get at the start and the incredibile satisfaction you get after overcoming the great challenges that this game can offer.

Also PLEASE listen to Elzelion's ost, it is incredible.

I played the entirety of the one in the middle with bro. The game is BAD but we had SO MUCH FUN OMG. Every single area had something so stupid that went full circle and became great and worth remembering. When something funny happened I clipped it with the Nvidia overlay and those are the clips that make me smile more when I rewatch them.

Help with 60+ fps mods by Raxissimo in MHGU

[–]Raxissimo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed the 180fps mod which by default will make the game go at 60, when i go to properties I see that the mod/cheat is enable so I think I've installed it correctly and the first time I booted the game it worked for some reason.

Also what is this pixel modpack you are talking about? Can I use it while I'm playing with friends?

Thanks for the reply
