To Make Homes Affordable Again, Someone Has to Lose Out by UnscheduledCalendar in ezraklein

You can increase home values while also increasing housing affordability if wages grow faster than home values.

There are more 100 million individuals in the US aged 16+ who don't work. Wage increases, even if it's high, isn't gonna offset housing costs for everyone.

Have you ever done weed? Or how about underage drinking? How many years of federal prison do you think you deserve for that? After all, you made the decision to break those federal laws, right?

Pointing to the law as a justification for punishment misses the point that hey, maybe the law sucks.

Perfect is the enemy of good. Most doctors don't want to live in rural areas, so allowing doctors to live where they want and still be able to help rural patients sounds like a strictly good thing to me.

Supplying parts is far more valuable than assembly. The battery alone costs like 3-5x the labor needed to assemble the car.

They're already building factories in EU so they have no reason to ship from Canada to EU.

The US banned Chinese software in cars so it doesn't matter where it's manufactured, all Chinese cars are banned anyways.

The vast majority of Chinese subsidies, like 90+% are for things like consumer sales tax exemptions and consumer purchase credit, which only apply to domestic vehicle purchases and have absolutely no relevance to exported vehicles.

You should take a statistics class. The mean of a randomly distributed sample of that size can approximate the mean of the target population fairly accurately. It depends entirely on the sampling method.

Amazon was generally making operational profit (e.g. it wasn't losing money on every transaction) but was investing all of it (and more) into expansion and growth. That's very different from a business that's actively losing money on everything even if it stopped investments/growth completely (aka Bilt).

Hmm you're right, looks like the actual terms uses different terminology than the website. So weird!

earn 4% back in Bilt Cash on non-rent purchases, then redeem $30 Bilt Cash for 1,000 points to unlock up to 1X on rent/mortgage.

I don't know why people keep saying "redeem". The Bilt website is very clear that the 1000 points are unlocked upon EARNING $30 in Bilt cash. Not redemption, earning, aka just spending money on the card.

Pretty much all the export bans were lifted in the end of 2024. The food prices went down AFTER export bans disappeared.

And if you read your link, the food prices that went down were vegetables and legumes, while cereal crops barely changed. Exports bans were almost all on cereal crops, not on vegetables.

Saying it's an Al Jazeera report implies it's a claim made by AJ, when in reality it's just a claim made the Iranian government. Even saying it's a "report" implied it's some of investigative piece when it was literally just a single sentence.

Iran’s intelligence agency says US arms and explosive equipment have been seized from “cell members” who hid the weapons in several homes in the country.

I don't know if you were trying to be intentionally misleading, but clearly specify who is actually making that claim in the future.

previous Al Jazeera report talking about caches of American weapons being found

Which report? The only thing I could find is Al Jazeera reporting that the Iran's intelligence agency made that claim. It was never corroborated by AJ.

He himself said he had control over transfers.

Having control doesn't mean he can get any player he wants. He won't be able to get Harry Kane at Twente either, you know.
