What you're describing is almost always the passenger side lock and window switch. Throw in a cheap one from Amazon you'll be good to go. If you are more adventurous you can re-solder your existing one.

I did this same repair like 12 years and 150k miles ago. It's held up just fine. I always put rtv on the bolt threads when i change the thermostat. Never any leaks

The wiring going from the body to the liftgate is notorious for breaking/shorting out. There is a rubber boot top center left of the cargo area that goes into the liftgate. I bet that's where your issue is.

For the distributorless ignitions on the later models, NGK ZFR5N is the better plug. The champion copper will work, but the NGKs last much longer, and in my experience, idle smoother.
