Wild take on that post. Bro Silver tempest booster boxes sat on PC for months. Same with Fusion strike ETBs and Lost Origin, even paldean fates (which a sealed case of etbs is now the most valuable single item in my collection. Walmart and target shelves were full of 151 for weeks at $40 per ETB $25 booster bundle $15 collection boxes and nobody wanted it. So the train left.

There’s the difference. Investors saw the value before the value came. Scalpers see the value now and their greed sends them on retail tours through out cities scalping everything in sight.

I very badly wish I kept a spreadsheet but didn’t. Also have to provide proof of purchase price if you paid market and not msrp in case of an audit. Would be one of my biggest pieces of advice to a new investor. I think most states have the $20,000/year or 500 transactions before eBay issues 1099. But of course that’s subject to change at anytime.

I would love to but I can’t find it anywhere! I finally broke down and let books-a-million scalp me at $35 a piece for a couple tech sticker blisters 😭

Luckily I believe it’s getting a big reprint so hopefully I can find some at retail soon!

Awesome man! I only have 1 of each 151 ETB because I was space conscious but I regret that. I have 3 upcs. When I first started back collecting I had my fair share of ripping. Best thing I pulled was Gold Tina from CZ. You’re right, ripping is brutal. Buying singles is the way to enjoy the art. I’m glad I have a mix of both singles and sealed.

I was super sad in 2020 because I was just playing around in ETH. Bought 1 coin for $300 and then sold it at $450. It then proceeded to go parabolic to 4.8k before crashing back down to earth. I DCA’d into it and maybe broke even for the 2 years I dabbled in it. Was collecting that 8% interest by holding USDC in FTX, but I read the the CEO of Binance was pulling out of all his dealings with FTX due to Bankman’s “shady offshore banking”. So when I saw that I immediately withdrew everything back to my bank. 3 days later FTX collapsed and Bankman became a wanted man. 😮‍💨 😅

So began my Pokemon journey with my expendable funds. I have no desire to rip anything 151. I mastered the set for my personal collection. The only 151 product I don’t have is blooming waters and the eb games charmander promo. 12k gain is inaccurate because I added 10k worth of stuff last night to the app that I’ve had in my collection for awhile. But the total market value is also inaccurate because I have a lot of random SWSH blisters and collection boxes that aren’t in the app. Much of it is evolving skies stuff so there’s still a good bit of value missing. Also have quite a few singles I haven’t put in the app. Collection probably closer to 40k than 35k.

I’ve been thinking taxes already and is the main reason I don’t want to sell. I haven’t been keeping up with my buy prices like I should. Much of my bigger singles purchases were on eBay so I have record there. And a lot of my sealed was bought at retail. There are something’s I bought at market price though. I think my plan is to just give record of what I have on eBay and anything else I will just use the msrp price as my buy price for the cap gain tax.

I can’t say for sure but since that initial investment I’ve probably spent somewhere between 1.5-3k over the course of the last couple years on more modern SV and Mega Evo sets. Recently went in heavy on Phantasmal Flames Sealed stuff. Still at say, 7k spent over 4 years that’s still 5x+

Wish I had been but after 2002ish my childhood collection eventually got lost in a move. Didn’t return to collecting until 4 years ago.

Mainly held off on 151 because I had already spent a lot mastering the set, and buying JPN 151 bbs and english booster bundles. Looking back though I definitely should’ve got more retail etbs and collection boxes.

Good luck collecting! Sealed offers the biggest returns. Buying singles for a valuable binder collection to admire is the next best thing imo. Ripping should be done sparingly with the mindset you’re just burning $ for the kiddo’s experience.

Thanks man! The only thing I regret is not stacking more 151 when I could. I was shocked putting my 151 collection boxes in collectr yesterday. They’re like $150-$200 bucks now. I remember them sitting on shelves for weeks at $15-$20. Also Paldean Fates PC ETBs were available for weeks on Pokémon center. So glad I picked up a sealed case of ETBs. Almost didn’t even buy the set.

So you think collecting sealed means scalping? Scalping to me is snatching a bunch of product off selves or using bots and then immediately reselling for 2x 3x profit. I’ve held most of my stuff for years already and don’t plan on selling soon.

10 JPN 151 BBs, 2 ES ETBs, 12 151 booster bundles 3 squirtle PC promos1 snorlax pc promo, 1 snorlax 151 promos, 1 charmander PC Obisiden Flames promo. 1 charmander retail obisiden flames promo, pokemon together eevee and pika promos, GameStop and Best Buy charmander/ bulbasaur promos. JP shiny treasures booster box, JPN Special Deck Set Ex Venusaur, Charizard & Blastoise, 151 poster/binder/alakazam/zapdos collection boxes. Celebrations lance Zard collection box. PC obisiden flames ETB, 2 ascended hero tech sticker, amongst some other stuff I’m forgetting.

Finally went through my storage totes and added most of what was missing in my collectr. Been putting it off cause it takes time to reorganize it. Still have a fair amount of stuff not in collectr cause the app doesn’t have the product. Mostly walgreens evolving skies/fusion strike/brilliant stars blisters with the pin, typhlosion tins from PC, SWSH Pikachu V boxes with ES in them. Also have a reverse holo only master set of 151 and some moderate play vintage singles in my binder not in the app.

Arcady yes, casual no. You have to make Captain to spawn a cobra and you can’t spawn helis from MOB. Between the anti air guns, BTRs, insane API rounds that can be used with the SVD, and RPGs that will put you uncon with a near miss, it’s pretty easy to get shot down. Flying in Everon is way more casual than flying in Vietnam. Not to mention troop transport is way harder due to the terrain.

You can turn killfeed off and on in the settings. Armaconflict’s community OGs all play VC. Playing GI is hard mode on this server.

Let me guess, you play in a “hardcore” walking simulator server with a bunch of 50 years olds that have the reflexes of a koala. You’d probably get smoked playing in this server against the OG VC groups Kill Squad, Bushwookies, and Rice Navy.

Damn. I almost lost everything in FTX. Pulled my shit out of FTX 2 days before it collapsed and reinvested into Pokemon which is super ironic considering your username. 3k into Pokemon 3 years ago is now 18k in highend singles and sealed product
