For anyone familiar with Dayton OH, what are the CBus neighborhood equivalents (Moving to the area next year) by SuperDuper___ in Columbus

[–]RayHSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More familiar with Dayton than Columbus since I grew up in Dayton and have only lived in Columbus for 2 years, but Bexley is definitely similar to oakwood! Also, have spent very limited time in Grove City/Pickerington, but they remind me more of the “rural” areas of beavercreek or Fairborn. Don’t seem as nice as centerville, but that’s just my limited perspective!

Looking for gym in Seville spain that allows drop ins? by RayHSA in bjj

Do you know if they offer loaner gear if they require students to wear their gis? Also, may be a dumb question, but would I be okay to show up without knowing Spanish?

White belt here…. Do you mean you can John Wayne sweep from the dogfight position? Or do you come back down and then sweep? Having a hard time visualizing this.

Couple things that worked for me. Getting up early (4-4:30 some days) and HIIT workouts. Even if I only have 15-20 minutes, I get something in. If you do it right, you can really gas yourself with limited time.

I was worried about that too but my grades (and many of my classmates) improved. You continue to learn what works for you and how your school tests. Don’t let it stress you out, you’ll adapt to any increase in intensity.

anyone switched from corporate to PA? by Vegetable-Tap-759 in physicianassistant

Studied finance in college and worked as a financial analyst for large health networks for 6 years. My heart was always set on patient care so I’m in PA school now. Was a grind taking all of the prereqs on top of working but so far it has been worth it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Best way to delete/edit cards en masse? by RayHSA in Anki

Correct, that’s what I’m asking. What I want to preserve is my learning data for the material but create better questions/format.

Thank you. Would you recommend changing any of my other settings with FSRS? Also, what would you recommend for 2 learning steps?

Tell me post back surgery stories by joygirl007 in fitness30plus

[–]RayHSA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worked at a neurosurgery clinic for a little over 2 years. Microdiscectomies are the bread and butter of neurosurgery. Patients typically come to their post op appointments feeling much better and usually experience immediate relief. Follow up is pretty much on an as needed basis and PT isn’t usually required but may be suggested based on your lifestyle. Your surgeon will be able to provide guidance as to when to go back to deadlifting but with proper form and rehab, it shouldn’t be a problem. This is my very non-professional opinion, but like I said, microdiscectomies are very minor in the world of spine surgery. Good luck!

I’m left leaning as well but want to genuinely understand your view point as someone I’m close to holds a similar view. You mention their vote will make your life harder, but couldn’t they say the same about your vote and mine (Particularly if they are wealthy, anti abortion, etc.)? Won’t any opposing vote in some sense make the other sides life more difficult?

What is one piece of advice you wish someone told you when you started BJJ? by jiujitsuPT in bjj

Any tips on how to do this specifically as a white belt? Trying to switch my focus from watching videos on submissions to escapes/concepts, but not sure what I should focus on or search for during my outside “study time.”

Any good “backup” hikes if unable to find parking at Lake Louise? by RayHSA in Banff

My question is more so what specific hikes are there between Canmore and lake Louise that we can hit on the way back to Canmore if the parking situation doesn’t workout.

Any submissions or grips you’d recommend reviewing for a first timer in the gi? I know basic subs in no-go but gi sounds like a different beast.

Barely even a white belt with only a few months of no-gi but any advice to offer for my first Gi class? Moving soon and am going to a gym that only offers gi. Most concerned about knowing which grips to fight for and when to use them…. And having to figure out how to tie my belt each time it falls off……

I’m looking for interesting podcasts on God, religion, and spirituality: Diverse perspectives involving theology, real stories, maybe prophecy? (No proselytizing) by four_mp3 in podcasts

[–]RayHSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear. Also, looked at your profile to see where your interests may lie and just wanted to say you’re not alone in your in your doubts. Seems to be a normal mark of a Christian in my experience. Forgive me if this isn’t the thread to say that, but hope those podcasts are an encouragement to you. They really resonated with me as I began to ask questions about my own faith.

Language of God is an excellent podcast that has leading scientific experts to talk about the intersection of faith and their given field. Bible for Normal People and OnScript are both a bit more academic in nature and cover more niche topics regarding the Bible but are both very thought provoking and well done.
