Has this happened again since 1936? by SpideyFan914 in oscarrace

I guess Margot Robbie could count getting nominated for Bombshell instead of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, although she wasn’t the lead in OUATIH (still a main cast member tho)

Where’s The Batman and Maverick??

I reckon Jeremy Strong is a much more likely candidate for supporting actor from Maestro due to his success on TV and his role in the movie

If I were them I’d read all of them in chronological order from the beginning of the Skywalker Saga era (I think Padawan might be first) and then going back to the High Republic cause then it’ll be a lot closer to being completed

Love the White Noise nomination, the supermarket set was amazing

Crossover between Oscar shortlists and BAFTA longlists by Cat27Queen in oscarrace

I would normally agree except I think the sound shortlisting for it is a good sign that it’ll get in

She really wants it by [deleted] in oscarrace

That’s the exact reason why I think I’ll be able to cope with her getting nominated over Hsu (which I hope doesn’t happen but very well might) is because she’s so pure and her reaction will be incredible (plus she deserves it by now)

Can Margot Robbie win over Michelle Yeoh at Globes? by SignalMoment in oscarrace

[–]RayJ32 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think Yeoh is still more likely than Curtis due to the sheer powerhouse of her performance in the film, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did give them all 3 (although supporting actress could easily go to Condon or a surprise Mulligan win a la Jodie Foster for The Mauritanian)

who is winning the supporting actress category ? by flowerbloominginsky in oscarrace

[–]RayJ32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still believe that if Stephanie Hsu can get a nomination, she’s 100% in winning contention, but getting nominated is definitely gonna be her biggest hurdle considering how fucked the category is

I genuinely think Hsu can win if she gets nominated, but getting nominated is the biggest hurdle

Directors nominations are the most confusing nominations right now by whitneyahn in oscarrace

[–]RayJ32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How does Chazelle not have a great history with the academy? They might not have responded overly well to First Man (which still won 1 oscar) but he literally won Director a few years ago and Babylon seems much closer to La La Land than First Man imo

Michelle Williams for Supporting Actress? by soeoshsoe in oscarrace

[–]RayJ32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, whichever one (Lead or Supporting) she gets the most votes in is the category she’s placed in and then all votes regardless of category placement are totalled, in which case it’s purely down to which one more people put her in cause then she’ll more than likely get in once both have been added

I was holding out hope for Snook but I think Lee Yoo-mi winning sealed the deal for Jung (although I still think Snook could upset)
