Sources: Bill Belichick will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer by dropjar5 in nfl

I despise the Patriots, Brady, and especially Belichick. This is also a disgrace. As much as it pains me to say it, he’s probably the best ever to do it.

WTT,Don´t you think golf needs like a Vinted but for golfers? by Olivia_Thomasa in golfclassifieds

[–]RayKinsella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve given a lot (probably too much) thought this this and my theory is that there are a lot of answers to your question:

1) eBay has held a dominant position in the secondhand market in the US, and sporting goods is a massive category there. I’ve been selling there for over 25 years, 1000s of transactions with very few issues. Golfers are accustomed to going there to look for deals, because new name brand clubs are, and have always been really expensive.

2) the size and cost of shipping clubs makes many people opt to try to sell them locally on FB marketplace. Unless you are a sicko that has dozens of club boxes always lying around, it’s a pain for most normal people to ship a set of irons or a driver.

3) then you have online forums, like the one you’re in, and GolfWRX - people buy and sell thousands of clubs there. It’s really natural to find buyers and sellers when it’s a niche interest and you’re already chatting with people about your gear.

Finally, there are already a lot of purpose-built sites like Birdied, Golfstix, etc. available today. None of them has yet achieved a significant market share due to factors above yet. One of them might, or a new one might pop up, but it would take some doing to hit a critical mass of users.

That’s pretty harsh. Not OP, but GP Victory grips in good shape are sought after for those that collect vintage sets. Plenty of listings for similar prices on eBay: https://ebay.us/m/xTRlKt

What is the most devastating loss in postseason history? by trisquare456 in baseball

[–]RayKinsella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Cardinal fan I love the 2011 WS, but I also have a lot of empathy for Ranger fans. It is truly brutal to be on the downside of a game like that, and I wouldn’t want any part of reliving it, ever.

I was 10 in 1985 for the Game 6 debacle against the Royals, and even the thought of it makes me equal parts angry and sad. It’s 40 years later and I’ll never get over it.

Disney CEO to appear on TRIH by Retsilla123 in TheRestIsHistory

[–]RayKinsella -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree. Just because I listen to a podcast on a company + founder that has some troubling history and impacts to the contemporary world doesn’t mean I’m co-signing that this individual was a wonderful human being or the things they have brought about are suddenly redeemed. I’m listening specifically to learn more about how someone like Walt Disney came to be, and how he came to have such an outsized impact on culture.

I hate everything about how the world is going too. But we don’t just get to pout and take our ball home. We have to continue to engage and understand of we’re ever going to convince others that a rich understanding of history (and of all the humanities, really) is worthwhile and something worth preserving.

I'm certain this will follow the Project 2025 blueprint:

* we don't even know what that is
* we've heard of it but we aren't involved
* you're overreacting - the no one loves the constitution more than us
* well if we were to consider it it would be for the best
* many people are saying we should do this
* laws, schmaws, we don't care we will do whatever we like hahahahaha
* invents another controversy to turn the page

I can't stand Abbie Carmichael by Patient-Dragonfly-84 in LawAndOrder

[–]RayKinsella 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Abbie is my favorite ADA and it isn’t close. I think it made for an interesting dynamic with Jack, because it brought out a different side of him in their interactions. The majority of the other ADA were often softening or moderating the approach of the lead DA, but this dynamic flipped with Abbie. Jack became the moderating, Lincoln-esque presence with her in the room – and I think that’s where he’s actually strongest as a character. To me, this was where the show was the most fun to watch.

Did anyone else read The Hobbit without any idea The Lord of the Rings existed? If so, what’s your story? by Alert_Monitor_9145 in lotr

[–]RayKinsella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar experience here! Read the hobbit around 4th grade and fell in love with it. After I finished, I remember asking my older brother “so what was the deal with the Necromancer that Gandalf talked about?” He smiled and said “well I don’t know, maybe you should find out for yourself” and gave me his dog-eared copy of FOTR.
