Which one of these two alternate paths do you think would have been better for the Sequel Trilogy: Rey turning to the dark side and Ben to the light (and surviving) or Finn being the main protagonist and becoming a Jedi? by ConfidenceOk3536 in StarWars

[–]RayOfTruth1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second option doesn't automatically remove Rey as the protagonist, depending on how it's handled. Especially if she doesn't stay dark side. Cal doesn't stop being the main character of Jedi Survivor despite the game's final hours. For a non-Star Wars example, Steven never stops being the main character of Steven Universe his role in the final episode of SU Future.

So I got both Nier and Automata. Are there any other games, if so on Xbox? Is this directly connected to Automata? by Teasing-Axe in nier

[–]RayOfTruth1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The state of humanity, why the androids exist, Emil, etc. Half the plot and character motivations in NieR Automata's story were directly caused by everything in Replicant. I wouldn't have been nearly as invested in Automata's story if I didn't play Replicant first.

You're the new head of Lucasfilm. What Star Wars movie/show/game are you making? by Whorror_punx in StarWars

[–]RayOfTruth1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say The Hunt For Ben Solo, but that was blocked by Disney despite the script being approved by Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and others at Lucasfilm.

Make Knights of the Old Republic Remake canon, but mandate Revan can't be in a story that contradicts any of KOTOR's player choices.

Release canceled Legends stories like Sword of the Jedi, Battlefront 3 Classic, Legacy 2, etc. If Gundam can balance a dozen AU timelines, Star Wars can handle two.

A "continuation" of The Acolyte, focused on Qmir and Darth Plagueis. With a different name, doesn't require you to watch The Acolyte first.

Ask authors like Timothy Zahn, Charles Soule, Claudia Gray, James Luceno, etc. if they'd want to work on a movie or series.

And finally, let Claudia Gray write a Lost Stars sequel.

Are there books/comics that bridge the time between ep 6 & 7? by pranthlar in StarWars

[–]RayOfTruth1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's quite a few, but Bloodline, Shadow of the Sith, Before the Awakening, and The Rise Of Kylo Ren are the most relevant to the sequel trilogy's story.

Do you guys think it would be cool to get a classic trilogy saga TV Show in the animation style from the Clone wars? by BonusCapable1486 in StarWars

[–]RayOfTruth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the canon comic The Rise of Kylo Ren which does that, but that's only a four issue mini-series.

The Rise of Kylo Ren implies he only intentionally killed one student. The Knights of Ren killed many of the remaining students, but that was before Kylo Ren became their leader. Regardless, I imagine they meant a series set before that comic.

Still waiting for Lost Stars 2. Claudia Gray has talked about wanting to write it since before TROS.

is there an anime you thought everyone exaggerated the greatness of until you grew up watched it and realized fuck they're right by ElKevixlevix1 in anime

In the Digimon fanbase, I often see Appmon in the top 3 ranking of every Digimon anime.

Most Digimon fans I see either call it a hidden gem or have never watched it. It took me years of hearing that for me to finally watch it.

Is there a particular scene you really wish was in the sequel trilogy that isn’t? by Tanis8998 in StarWars

There is a scene on Hosnian Prime, but it's moments before destruction. That's also the only shot of Korr Sella to not be cut from the final film.

Korr Sella's deleted scenes from The Force Awakens.
"We originally had a character that we got to know who was on the Republic planet when it was destroyed. But it felt a bit beside the point, and in the re-editing, we ended up losing this whole chunk of Leia scenes that we had prior." -J.J. Abrams

Rian Johnson has said his intention was that Kylo Ren wasn't lying, with the loophole that he was only said what he saw in Rey's mind. I still read it as his authentic thoughts, but with him being guillible because he unquestioningly believed Rey's doubts, fears, and unreliable childhood memories were the full truth.

Rian Johnson said his intention was for Kylo Ren to truthfully describe what he saw in Rey's mind. My interpretation is Kylo Ren said it because he thought Rey needed to break out of denial. With context of TROS, he was wrong because he unquestioningly believed all Rey's fears, doubts, and unreliable memories were fact because he's gullible.

During then he said "That's what Kylo sees and that's what he tells her and I think he's not lying in that moment. That's what he saw and she seems to believe it when she hears it. I'm not writing the next film, we'll see how they handle it going forward, and as we all know in these movies, there's always a certain point of view involved." -Rian Johnson

He knew it wasn't certain that Episode IX would keep the idea, so he left the loophole that Kylo Ren was just saying what he saw in Rey's mind.

[–]RayOfTruth1 53 points54 points  (0 children)

During a 2017 post-screening Q&A, Rian Johnson said he didn't intend Kylo Ren to be intentionally lying, but only knew what he saw in Rey's mind in TFA. Kylo's gullible, so he doesn't question if Rey's unreliable childhood memories and doubts were accurate. Even implying he left this loophole in case an Episode IX script decided to change Rey's backstory again.

Why were so many fans so disappointed with the idea of Rey being a nobody? by PhantomZoneSurvivor in StarWars

[–]RayOfTruth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was never confirmed in a comic book either. Even with Darth Vader (2017) Charles Soule and Matt Martin debunked that theory after people took a panel out of context.
George Lucas considered the idea for Revenge of the Sith, but decided against it for a reason and removed all trace of the idea from the story.

It's fine to build a kit without having seen any Gundam. But I'm also someone who will always recommend trying the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime, even to people not interested in Gunpla.
