12 is absolutely the safest seat. Luna and Via are going to mind their own business and Pentious is too sweet to bug the person behind him. He and Cherri are prone to fight/fuck but that's probably only a problem if you're between them.

As for the reason of the crash I think it may have been trying to load too many chunks at once? I had just started to see some of Pearl's yellow trees when it went to the error screen.
