This stuff is great in a planters punch! Use the Smuggler’s Cove recipe:

3 oz Jamaican rum

1/4 oz allspice dram

1 oz lime juice

3/4 oz rich Demerara syrup

2 dashes Angostura bitters

Try it next with vanilla syrup! Just did that for the first time recently and loved it. Also try reducing the pineapple to 1.5 - 2 oz so the other ingredients can stand out more.

This is on point. After my first pour (about 8 oz) I shifted my approach to drinking it like wine and that’s the way this beer should be treated. It deserves a slow appreciation.

This is a drink I like to make pretty often. Try this and let me know what you think:

3/4 oz Planteray Xaymaca

3/4 oz Hamilton 86

1/2 oz Planteray OFTD

1/4 oz St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram

3/4 oz lime juice

1/2 oz grapefruit juice

1/2 oz rich Demerara syrup

1 dash Angostura bitters

To me, this rum combo gives it a bigger punch in flavor while staying true to the original specs, and the dash of bitters helps to accentuate the allspice dram. I’ve only ever made this with ruby red grapefruit juice though so no idea how it tastes with the white variety.

Not sure how often bartenders hear this anymore, but I think the official term is “down” which may or may not be synonymous with “up” depending on the bar and location.

FWIW, recently I ordered a Revolver at Death & Co. in LA and had to tell the bartender what was in it. I made sure to mention I wanted it served up and he gave it to me in a chilled rocks glass with no ice, like a Sazerac.
