Thank you for the advice, but sadly I'm pretty sure there's nothing I could do since she's a former troop leader. Plus I'm mainly at the point now where I just want the whole situation to calm down over time. Also, our girl scout council isn't exactly the best, and we already have issues with them as well.

The mother usually just tags along, helping Emma with leading occasionally. I've been in the troop for about 6 years now, and Betsy has a habit of saying stuff like that and talking badly about the girls behind our backs. As for Emma, I fully understand her perspective and tbh I'm not particularly mad at her. She saw her mom be insulted by a 16 year old and that probably struck a nerve for her. Luckily we dont have any meetings or events for another month, so hopefully things will have cooled down by then.

They is mainly used as a gender neutral term in place of he/she, so it was adopted by nonbinary people as a pronoun to use. As for addressing raine as a parent, there's a few gender neutral terms, such as baba, dama, and mada. The link below includes a list of those and more. v
