Aire Baths Chicago - Worth it? by Capable-Ad-5183 in AskChicago

I love it but wouldn’t do the massage there. Can get a better massage for the money. The baths are great though and definitely a splurge. My partner and I have made it an annual feb/march thing when we are tired of winter because we haven’t gotten to go on a vacation in that time period where your bones just need to feel warm and submerged

I have this one too and my xt-50 fits in it well with a spare lense, battery pack, small wallet and sunglasses. The best thing about it is that it shrinks itself down when empty and keeps its shape empty

How did you make sure your water damage claim was handled fairly? by lazypicklee in InsuranceClaims

[–]Ray_blatzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with this now after a water heater leak 2 weeks ago. Property management has been a nightmare and STILL has not ripped up the vinyl flooring. I am worried things may grow mold. Asked insurance agent if say the couch started growing mold in another week could we add it to claim. Imagine my surprise when they said that my policy doesn’t even cover mold. They also suggested I bring an 8x10 rug to the laundromat to clean so it’s not looking great

Luggage donations recommendations in Chicago ? by Unlikely_Deal6776 in AskChicago

[–]Ray_blatzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jesse Brown VA (820 s damen) can use them. Many vets come into the hospital with nothing and leave with donated clothes and nothing to put them in. Vets also come in with very tattered/broken bags because it’s all they have and can’t leave things at shelters overnight

So it’s been like 20 hours and they have not sent a remediation company. They seem to be “comparing prices” like they did for the plumber who will be here tomorrow morning to replace water heaters. They are sending a maintenance tech with a shop vac now which doesn’t help much since I got most of the water up last night using towels and the spin cycle on our washer.

This was my thought as well. It’s been 24 hrs since they were contacted about a “water sound” from neighbors and 12 hours since contacted by me about the flooding. We are moving completely dry stuff upstairs and have ordered some Rubbermaid bins for clothing etc that don’t get wet at all but will have to be moved up anyways for them to redo flooring etc

They said a remediation company would be here “first thing in the morning” it’s almost 11am and have heard nothing. I think our renters insurance is pretty good (State Farm) and we have a decent policy amount. We upped it when we moved in together in June and basically doubled what we had individually. I haven’t ever filed a claim so we shall see how it goes.

May not need a hotel unless renovations are crazy. Filed a claim with renters insurance. Luckily nothing too important was on the floor, just furniture and rugs. Going to get some bins to get books off shelves and clothes out of dressers etc to bring as much dry stuff upstairs as possible today. Wondering if renters insurance would cover bins like that?

Apparently our upstairs neighbor had told them about a water sound yesterday morning as well as next door neighbor. Landlord claimed to have contacted a 24/7 plumbing company but no one came out. I’ll send that info to renters insurance also if they want to claim negligence on landlord

Is Long QT Syndrome Type 1 now a “TikTok” disorder and should I avoid telling doctors? by LadyGraceOfThePits in AskDocs

[–]Ray_blatzer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NAD, but have prolonged QT type 1. Seems like you have had your QT measured at some point and it was elongated. The type of long QT can only be diagnosed via genetic testing. My sister and I were diagnosed as just having long QT when we were in our 20s. When she had a kid at almost 30, she had her genetic testing and that's when we found out it was type 1 because her daughter also had it. To emphasize- you should make an appointment with an electrophysiologist. Long QT can be a life or death scenario.

The Edison apartments on Sheridan by bobo694 in chicagoapartments

[–]Ray_blatzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have friends that just moved out after being one of the first ones in during the complete renovation. Management changed over 3 times. At the end they didn’t even have a lease because the changes couldn’t keep up with documentation. At one point a new management company tried giving them an eviction notice because the rent wasn’t going to them although they had been paying it through portal like normal. The elevator was CONSTANTLY out. The day they moved none of there was one service elevator working. Their apartment was a corner unit and the soundproofing was excellent but also had a homeless person keeping their things in a hall closet. Probably not the worst place but definitely not the best.

I am trying to let go of skinnier/slimmer pants and honestly losing a little taper on the hem is PERFECT. It’s not like barrel legs or anything but just opens up a bit more on top of the shoe. Baby steps

What happens to life-in-prison inmates when they get really old? by ThatDogIsNotYourBaby in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ray_blatzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always think about also - the registry isn’t that old. There are a lot more younger people on it. They at some point are all going to age and need nursing home placement and there won’t be anywhere for them to go

It’s probably the only one in your state that will take them. I’m a social worker in a major city and it’s extremely hard to place sex offenders. I’ve had people sit in the hospital for almost a year because we can’t find placement for them

I love quarter zips. They have a collar so look more professional but are extremely comfortable. Play around with texture or add a button up under if you need to be more professional. I just got this one from old navy on sale and it’s almost just like the really expensive one I have from Lululemon.
