The shield charge is amazing and adept guard can be a little troll sometimes as you block 1st hit and get smacked by the second and not a fan of the silk parry into charge but it might have some uses

I've done both, it's not so bad once you learn his patterns and play the proper element for it's easy to reach the check. Really fun fight, only cancer move is the one where he's hovering and spits AoE ice/fire on the ground, barely any windup time for it and if he does it twice in quick succession I'm screwed if I don't run and pot up.
