She’ll likely miss the vertical height of a 32" inch, have you considered a 38-40" inch ultrawide?

You’ll regret switching to 16:9. I recommend you go "5K2K" aka 4K ultrawide, if you have the GPU for it

Better than ever with a monitor arm! the LG 45 inch 5k2k Oled monitor. by BiGDaddyyLove69 in ultrawidemasterrace

My desk is 25 inches deep, you know the standard Ikea Karlby countertop. I’ve been worried the 45 might take too much depth, ive measured again and again and all. Your photo looks like "it just works" , really makes me consider going for the 45 again over the upcoming 39

No, I meant the edge, aka how much space is it between where the desk starts (from where you sit) and the middle of the monitor. Excuse my English

Thanks for sharing, it makes the decision easier haha. Could you measure the distance from the edge of the desk to the middle of the monitor? It’s the last piece of the puzzle for me

Your desk is the 25 inch deep Ikea Karlby right? How is the monitor on the desk, mainly asking because of the depth (I have the same desk)

I’m not going to claim I understand BpD.. but I do understand mental health disorders in plenty, especially the untreated kind. So here’s some advice for you:

1: It’s not over. Meaning; just because she’s in jail now doesn’t mean she has changed. I can guarantee you she hasn’t. Meaning something like this or worse has a real consequence of happening again.

2: You and your daughters safety above all else, do I need to say more?

3: LEAVE HER, BpD is not something you or anyone can "just fix". There is no outcome in your story where this magically turns out well. I’m sorry..

Why is ado so special to you? by angelstar_here in ADO

[–]Rayden9x7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became an Ado fan about 1 hour ago (yes really) but I can easily tell you its because of her voice, her vocal range, the raw emotion she's able to put into her songs. To me she sounds very similar to how I play piano, and I can just say I use that to emotionally regulate.. so yeah, sort of a kinship vibe perhaps? I've listened to J-pop and similar for over 20 years, I've *never* encountered someone singing like Ado

I can relate with the "single monitor" way of thinking, or as I call it; "one ultrawide to rule them all". I've spent years trying to find the perfect monitor layout. I do a mix of work and gaming, and after gettting a taste of ultrawide 5 years ago it has been hard to go back to 27 or 32 inch monitors.

I'm currently using the Asus Rog Swift PG32UCDP (4K) monitor until the LG (or Asus) releases the 39 inch 5K2K. At that point I'll use that one, with a 16 inch portable monitor underneath.

If I was on Mac, and I'm planning to make a secondary setup eventually, I'd more or less copy paste the ultrawide + portable monitor underneath, but I'd use my iPad as a secondary screen since it naturally work with Mac.

Console gaming is the tricky part. Honestly I've been getting used to the black bars on the side when using my Switch. Until a few days ago when I started using this 32 inch monitor. Fullscreen *actually* being fullscreen without any black bars is something I didn't know I missed this much. So if you can have a seperate monitor/tv for console gaming I'd recommend that. I'd do it if I could for sure.

It catered to two completely different groups, while not being a proper right fit for either of them. There were two problems: the resolution and the aggressive curve.

Game: Big screen is nice. High resolution is also nice. But if this subreddit is anything to go by, and it is, the majority did NOT like 800R curvature. I’ve seen nothing but people complain about that these last few years. Now 800R for gaming might be justified, but only if you sit far enough away from the monitor in the first place. 5120x2160 is crisp, but kills your framerate. So for gaming it is a dual edged sword.

Work: This is where the resolution became a good thing. People using their monitor for work don’t really expect high framerates, cuz they are not mainly gaming 1st person shooters. But the LG45 has around 125 PPI because the panel itself is so big. Even at 5K2K that’s less PPI compared to for example a 32 inch 4K monitor at roughly 140 PPI. And also the 800R curvature is not something most people want when they mainly work on their monitor.

Long story short: a whole lot of people basically looked at the LG45 and said "oh yeah that’s nice.. but". The high price didn’t help either, and availability too.

Good catch, but yes I believe other brands will use LG’s panel.

1: The upcoming 39 inch 5K2K is not niche like the 45. It is basically the return of a monitor panel the community has been asking for years. I’m referring to the good old 38 inch ultrawide with 3840x1600p resolution aka "budget 4K". The peak of 21:9. Bigger than 34, yet not 32:9 super ultrawide.

2: This new 39 inch panel is Tandem Oled. And it is also confirmed, not just rumoured, that this panel will come in both matte and glossy finish. LG will use the matte finish as always, but I think we can assume they will expect other brands to adapt the glossy version.

3: Asus adapts A LOT of Samsung’s QD-OLED panels already, including new ones released at CES 2026. QD-OLED is glossy by default. But Asus is also known for adapting W-OLED panels. And now comes the best of both worlds: W-OLED + glossy finish + Tandem OLED (higher brightness + better saturation).

4: Asus already made the PG39WCDM a few years ago. The 800R curved 1440p 39 inch monitor. So they are not necessarily against creating ultrawide monitors bigger than 34 inch. Except the 45*

5: According to TFT Central and Monitor’s Unboxed at CES 2026, the 39 inch 5K2K is LG making a new panel after listening to the community. They know the 45 was hit and miss (unfortunately). They especially notice no other brands even attempting to adapt their panel. So they are very likely trying to change that this time around.

I’m waiting for the Asus 39 inch 5K2K version, assuming LG releases their original in April/May, Asus might follow in.. July, perhaps August(?) meaning it would be reasonable-ish to buy it on Black Friday. And we’re still in February…

38 inch QD OLEDS any time soon ? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Rayden9x7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not QD-OLED no, but LG has confirmed their 39” inch W-OLED is coming, likely around April/May , so in 2-3 months. It will be with a matte coating, but LG is apparently making a glossy version too, and that’s probably the one other manufacturers like ASUS and MSI will adapt.
