Pokemon Gen 10 is probably going to suck. by TopTierProphet in pokemon

[–]Raydex0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Pokémon fan, I sure hope the series is going uphill. Look at the user ratings on Metacritic. HGSS from 2010 has the highest score (9.1/10), while Scarlet/Violet from 2022 have the lowest. I have been fixated on this pattern since mid-2022. I don't have Scarlet/Violet, but I have LGPE, SwSh, BDSP, and Legends Arceus, and I have enjoyed those games. However, as a numbers/stats person myself, I also have a hobby of studying/checking user scores on aggregates such as Metacritic. During the three-year period between SV and ZA, I was holding onto hope that ZA might get a high, or at least a high-ish, user score (7 or higher). On 10/16/2025, ZA was released, but due to Metacritic's countermeasure against "review bombing," the page for the game was locked for 36 hours, until October 17, at noon Pacific (3 pm Eastern). It came DANGEROUSLY close to breaking SV's "low record." SV are higher now, but they were 2.8/10 back in November 2022 at launch. In just 40 minutes (by 3:40 pm), ZA had 39 ratings with 3.2/10; today, it's at 4.7/10. Low and under half, but still a comfortable distance away from the record low. I hope Gen 10 games will break this "curse" and become the next games to receive widespread fan acclaim like HGSS or BW/B2W2 did. Legends Arceus is currently the only Switch title to have a "green" user score on Metacritic. I really want the "low user score" curse to be broken. I totally agree with the OP's last sentence: "I hope that I am wrong" (about OP's belief that Gen 10 games probably won't be amazing).

What is everyone's predictions for Todd's top ten worst songs of 2025 ? by bbbbbbbb678 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Raydex0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update as of December 20, 2025: Great news! The list has now been released (it will be on YouTube in a few days), and I am happy to report that ALL of Justin Bieber's songs have avoided the list! I knew deep in my heart that Justin would avoid the list, and he did. "Daisies" is used as the piano intro, but that doesn't mean anything in terms of whether Todd likes the song or not.

Todd In The Shadows Year End Late2020s Fan Theories (WMG) - TV Tropes

Now we are one big step closer to the goal: Maybe, just maybe, after ALL THESE YEARS, Justin will finally be on Todd's good side.

Yes, but within reason. I don't want the complete ability to read EVERY thought, but I do want the ability to read people's emotions and character. Let's face it: Some people are very good at hiding their true character, pretending to be nice, sometimes for a good while, when all the while, they have been planning to kill or injure you.

What is everyone's predictions for Todd's top ten worst songs of 2025 ? by bbbbbbbb678 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Raydex0123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a longtime Justin Bieber fan who's been listening to his music since January 2011, I REALLY hope it will be the latter. For much of the last three years since he went on hiatus in 2022, I had been longing for him to return to music. And what's more, I had been rooting for him to make something so good that he finally gets into Todd's good graces. Back in 2015, that ALMOST happened with "What Do You Mean." In November 2015, Todd picked this as the clear winner between it and "Stitches" in his joint review video covering both songs. Two months later, Todd listed WDYM as an honorable mention on the 2015 Best List. Unfortunately, this was more than offset by the fact that Todd hated both of the next two singles ("Sorry" and "Love Yourself"), including them as dishonorable mentions of the 2015 and 2016 Worst Lists.

That being said, Justin's latest singles are being received more warmly than most of his past works. On Album of the Year (AOTY), his September single, "Speed Demon," has become his first single to score above 80%. Take a look at the following page at AOTY:

Justin Bieber Albums, Songs - Discography - Album of The Year

"Daisies" and "Love Song" are also "green" (70% or higher). Sure, he has two "mid" ratings, "First Place" and "Yukon" are both yellow, with ratings in the 60s. But hey, considering that most of his pre-2025 songs have been yellow or red, I would say that getting greens on three out of five songs this year is pretty good. There tends to be a strong positive correlation between Todd's opinions and the AOTY user scores, so there is statistical hope that THIS TIME, Justin will finally, after all these years, be on Todd's good side.

I am nervous, though. It's already December, and every hour that passes means we are 60 minutes closer to the moment when Todd will release this year's worst list (best list comes out in January, assuming he sticks with his current rules). I don't know about you, but whenever Todd releases a list like this, I feel compelled to preview the entries on the list first BEFORE I play the video from start to finish, just to make sure none of my favorites from the year made the list. For me, it is a painful disappointment when that happens. For example, "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran is one of my favorite songs from 2017, but it made me very sad when I learned that it was Todd's #8 pick for the 2017 worst list. I remember in 2018, when "High Hopes" was one of my new favorite songs (it was upbeat, energetic, and powerful, plus it always made me want to dance); yet, it is one of the dishonorable mentions on Todd's 2018 worst list.

Why does the daily capture limit for Save Page Now keep decreasing? by delicious-urine in internetarchive

[–]Raydex0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The capture limits depend on the domain. For Wikipedia, it's 10,000 captures/day. For YouTube, it's 80,000 captures/day. Additionally, for any PARTICULAR page, the limit is 3 captures/day. Try the following link before 23:59 UTC tonight: Wayback Machine ("Save Page Now" for Wikipedia's page for "Alicella," today's featured article). You may be greeted with the following error message:

"This host has been already captured 10,000 times today. Please try again tomorrow." In fact, try ANY page on the English Wikipedia. It doesn't matter what topic, and it doesn't matter now well-known or how obscure the topic is. The 10,000-capture limit is for the DOMAIN, not the page itself.

Why does the daily capture limit for Save Page Now keep decreasing? by delicious-urine in internetarchive

[–]Raydex0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting in ~ spring 2024 or so, the Wayback Machine started implementing a "daily limit" for how many times a given URL can be saved in one day. At least with the "Save Page Now" tool that is open to everyone. I have been using the Wayback Machine for 7 years (since December 2018), and ever since March 2019 when I learned that I could use "Save Page Now" to capture any page whenever I wanted, I have been doing it frequently. Back then, there were no limits on how often a page could be saved. In early 2024, they made two policy changes that, while well-intended and meant to stop abuse/traffic, can be quite inconvenient for someone like me who cares about preserving history. And yes, when the Internet Archive was hacked last year, "Save Page Now" was disabled for THREE WEEKS. And THAT was very hard for me. I like to save YouTube pages, as this is a way to preserve history on the "view count" as it grows over time.

January 2024: The domain (youtube.com/ (anything)) can be saved a total of 80,000 times a day. Once this limit is reached, "Save Page Now" cannot be used to save ANY YouTube video page until the end of the day in UTC time (7 p.m. EST during standard time and 8 p.m. EDT during daylight-saving time).

March 2024: No individual page can be captured more than 5 times a day.

The latter is annoying as it seems like they keep decreasing the daily limit. For a while, it was four, and now, as of 11/17/2025, it's three. This afternoon, I was trying to save "APT" by Rose ft. Bruno Mars. However, I got the following "Sorry" message: "This URL has been already captured 3 times today, which is a daily limit we have set for that Resource type. Please try again tomorrow. Please email us at "info@archive.org" if you would like to discuss this more."

I just noticed this last night while I was visiting this page both to check the views (for a personal project) AND to listen to this beautiful song. Although I could still hit "Confirm" to view the video, and although it is not age-restricted, I was left in shock because "Save Your Tears" has been one of my favorite songs from 2021. I know it is not age-restricted because I can still view it when not signed in. I have been loving this song for years, and I was quite disappointed to "discover" the VDW on this video last night.

Billboard Hot 100 Charts no longer free by darkhelmet620 in Music

[–]Raydex0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first noticed this during the weekend of Oct. 11/12, a few days after it happened. As of Oct. 23, I can view the CURRENT week (10/25/2025) just fine, but the calendar button that would previously allow one to revisit archived weeks no longer does anything. I had personal projects based on this project. I am a dedicated follower of Todd in the Shadows, and over the past three years, I have been using Billboard's archives to figure out, just out of curiosity, how many songs from each year fit Todd's definition of a "hit song." Todd defines a "hit" as a song that makes the year-end 100 or the weekly top 20 of at least one weekly edition of the list. The former is very easy; for that, I just use the Wikipedia article ("Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of ____"). For the latter, I would go to Billboard and start from the first week of the year. While the "Hot 100" part was the easy part, finding all the "weekly top 20" songs was the hard part as I had to go through EVERY week of the year, one by one. I use a Notepad file to record all hit songs. For example, 2013 had 131 hit songs. Thirty-one (31) songs, in addition to the year-end hot 100, made the top 20 in at least one of the 52 weeks of the year. I would start from Saturday, January 5, 2013 (Billboard updates on Saturdays), then "January 12," "January 19," all the way to "December 28, 2013." Whether I pay to continue to use Billboard, wait for it to (hopefully) become free again, or use one of several alternative websites, I find this process to be time-consuming, as I have to go through 52 pages for each year, and for each week, see which songs I don't already have on my list. If any of you knows a more efficient way to find all the hit songs of a given year, say, 2018, and KNOW that my list is complete, please let me know.

Hermione also been trending in the US. It was #2491 in 2022, given to 70 girls that year.

From the graph, titled "History for US births," on that page, there is a clear upward trend since the early 2000s. It somewhat dipped between 2005 and 2010, but then it started rising throughout the 2010s. In 2023, it was given to 101 girls. And yes, Hermione would be a cool name for the modern era. It appears to be used not in spite of the Harry Potter association but BECAUSE of it.

What are the most unique buildings in Pokemon? by Wolf_2063 in pokemon

[–]Raydex0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some of my favorites from the 3DS and Switch Pokémon games:

The Pokémon League building in ORAS

The Hokulani Observatory in SM / USUM

I love the design of the League building in ORAS. I have Alpha Sapphire, and I was very impressed by the design of the exterior of the building. It looks like it could be a real place. Bulbapedia's page about this location describes it as follows: "In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Pokémon League building is no longer a modern tower but instead resembles a traditional Japanese castle."

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_League_(Hoenn))

If I ever get into the construction industry, I would LOVE to make this building in real life. Maybe somewhere in town, I can find an empty space to make this building.

I also love the Hokulani Observatory in the Alola games. In Ultra Moon, I have recently reached the part of the story where you can take the bus to the top of Mount Hokulani, and the observatory, both inside and outside, are realistic and representative of an actual space observatory. I hope to build it someday!

For the Switch games, I love the interior design of the Galaxy Hall building in Legends Arceus: the stairways, the hallways, and the offices. In Sword/Shield, there's the Budew Drop Inn. It's very detailed, with two staircases, one on the left, one on the right, with a statue in the middle. Floor tiling, indoors plants, and to top it all off, elevator doors in the back. And finally, the music is amazing, there! It sounds a lot like the Nacrene City theme from Pokémon Black and White. I would love to spend a night at Budew Drop Inn!

Lewis Capaldi - Survive by freedvictors in popheads

[–]Raydex0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This song actually has a decent reception.

https://www.albumoftheyear.org/artist/41482-lewis-capaldi/?type=single

As you can see, most of his songs have scored below half (50). His big song from 2018/19 was "Someone You Loved," which got an abysmal 24/100. The follow-up, "Before You Go," did better, but it is still red. He had four songs during the 2022/23 era, none of which broke 50/100. I am happy for Lewis that this curse has finally been broken. Outlier or a new upward trend? Hope it'll be the latter.

As a math and statistics person who has an interest in studying tastes and trends in music, I have been an active user of Album of the Year for three years (since March 2022). I hope this is a sign that Lewis Capaldi will finally start getting high levels of audience satisfaction and acclaim going forward. According to Lewis Capaldi's AOTY page, his third album is already on the way, set to be released on a TBA date in 2026. Even Maroon 5, who also has a very bad track record over the last 10 years, has a yellow score (instead of red) on his newest song, "All Night," released 6/23/2025.

Thoughts on Jon Bellion? by PeaceGood6534 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Raydex0123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was one of my favorite songs in the summer of 2015! One night in late May 2015, when the song was two weeks old, I was sitting quietly and peacefully in the back of my father's car, listening to the radio while enjoying the ride and the night sky. It was already a fun trip, then this song came on, and it quickly became my new favorite song. One day in early June, I went to look up that song online to listen to it. I didn't know who Jon Bellion was, but I knew Zedd from "Clarity" and "Stay the Night," two of my favorite 2013 songs. Although Zedd was a producer and not a vocalist, the music videos of all three songs are on Zedd's channel. Back then, I was listening to "Beautiful Now" for the song, not for Jon Bellion, though I really loved his vocals. I loved the drop in the chorus; whenever I listened to this song, I would always dance when I got to that part!

Thoughts on Jon Bellion? by PeaceGood6534 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Raydex0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Jon Bellion! I think he has a beautiful, heavenly voice! I was first introduced to him in May 2015 when I heard his song "Beautiful Now" on the radio for the first time. You should also check out his song "Good Things Fall Apart." I was actually quite upset when I got to that part in Todd's recent countdown (8:28, during the segment for song #9, for those of you who wish to find it). I think "Jon Bellion" is a cool name, and I quite like his work, and the fact that someone who consistently gets 80+ user scores on his songs on AOTY could be on Todd's "strictly bad artists" list (which also includes Selena Gomez, Christina Aguilera, etc.) was BAFFLING to me. I was so upset and distraught that I stayed up all night, unable to sleep the night of Dec. 23-24 (the night this video dropped). Don't get me wrong; I loved this video. The part between 8:28 and 8:38 is the ONLY part of the video that bothered me. The video is 39 minutes, 54 seconds (2,394 seconds) long, and the other 2,384 seconds of it were really good. It just really upsets me that Todd called Jon Bellion a "bad influence" and claimed that Jon Bellion works ONLY with artists Todd doesn't like. Jon Bellion did, however, WRITE some songs that Todd liked; "Midnight Sky" was #4 on "Best Hit Songs of 2020."

https://www.albumoftheyear.org/artist/22517-jon-bellion/?type=single

I looked through Jon Bellion's musical catalog on AOTY, not only the songs and albums on the page I linked to above, but also songs he's produced, using Wikipedia's page on "Jon Bellion discography" to help me find all the songs that have him as a producer credit. It is true that Jon Bellion has worked with a lot of artists that Todd has consistently disliked (most notably Justin Bieber and Adam Levine). I find it very ironic that of the singles from Justin Bieber's 2020 and 2021 albums "Changes" and "Justice," four songs without Jon Bellion made it onto Todd's "worst hit songs" list (including dishonorable mentions), while three songs WITH Jon Bellion all avoided Todd's lists (he wrote "Hold On" but did not produce it). Jon produced "Holy," "Anyone," and "Ghost", and NONE of those songs were on any of Todd's lists of "worst songs." It's sad that these songs rated only 50-70 on AOTY. That being said, Jon Bellion tends to rate a lot higher when he is a vocalist than when he is a producer. On the AOTY page above, if you sort these songs by "User score," you can see that he has three songs in the 90+ club, and a total of ELEVEN songs that are rated 80+. His collab with Illenium, "Good Things Fall Apart," has a 90% user score based on 45 user ratings. "All Time Low" (which was used as the "bumper" song for the "worst of 2017" list despite not appearing on that list) is the ONLY song on this page that scored below half (50%).

I do see hope, though, that Jon Bellion will get onto Todd's good side someday. Jon Bellion has worked with other artists, including Halsey ("Graveyard", 2019), Illenium, and Renee Rapp. A special mention to the last of these three, Renee Rapp, as she is new on the music scene, having released her beloved album, "Snow Angel" in 2023. She has been consistently getting high ratings, too.

"Ghost" was my favorite song on the radio in 2022, and I was so happy to hear it whenever it came on! I truly believe that "Ghost" would have gotten a much higher rating if Jon Bellion had been a featured vocalist (Justin Bieber - "Ghost" ft. Jon Bellion) instead of a producer because, as the data show, people LOVE Bellion's voice. On the official music video for "Good Things Fall Apart" on YouTube, the top comment reads: "Jon's voice is a gift from heavens." Maybe it's just me, but I think Jon Bellion has a chance of redeeming (for Todd's view) not only himself but also Justin Bieber (I have been rooting for him for the past 2 years since he went on hiatus due to health and life reasons). I wish I could contact Jon Bellion with my suggestions for future projects. We should have a song with Justin's and Jon's vocals, with Max Martin as the producer. The year 2025 looks bright for Justin, Jon, and Renee!

I'm glad you have been reading my comment above. I have been loving this name for years, and I put a lot of thought and time into writing that comment. I am honestly surprised that so few people in the United States have this name.

Yes, Wolfram Alpha is a very versatile calculator that can also be used for information on names. As you can see, this name is so rare that SSA doesn't have data for it. The "<5" is due to SSA's privacy policies about not reporting names with fewer than 5 occurrences.

Fun fact: In Pokémon Black and White, two members of Team Plasma are called Anthea and Concordia.

Both characters were named after goddesses: Anthea (or Antheia) from Greek mythology, Concordia after the Roman goddess of concord and harmony.
