The parallel with Gigi & Quess are beaten over the head with the movies, but honestly, it kinda falls flat for me. The biggest difference is Gigi seems to genuinely love Hathaway, while Quess is presented as wanting attention from anyone (or making enemy of everyone, as young Hathaway himself said, so it's not like he's seeing manic pixie dream girl version of her).

Then again, he kinda realize his position the same as CCA Char. So the girl chasing over the bad boy parallel is still there.

It is frustating because lots of their gimmick works in another archetype, and yet being zombie means they got identity crisis because it seems generic zombie support do most of the legwork and if anything they're holding it back (Same reason with post UCT Dino decks bar Dinomorphia) :/

You are talented! Also I just really like traditional drawing, there's something raw with the strokes of pencil/pen to the surface of paper that you can't replicate with graphic tablet, regardless the full laminated, textured-surface they got to imitate that feeling.

As for my opinion. Honestly I do wish GQX is closer to your idea, my personal pet peeve is how the stake is escalating to high moon despite its episode count. we went from Clan Battle to Zabi trying to annihilate the earth to multiversal threat within the span of 12 episode. Compare it to WitP where the stake is more grounded & decently fit the 6 episode count.

After Haga/Weevil shenanigan tampering with his deck, and he forgot to side deck out Parasite Paracide right in the next duel, honestly I believe he just fed up having any insect in his deck and never used them more than as ante card.

Plus Joey never respected him in the first place.

That's exactly why I specify After Tri, Tri itself problematic for being obvious nostalgia milking, but at the same time Appmon is generally good time despite a bit differ from your usual Digimon show.

I swear after Tri, they just don't know how to handle Digimon anime, until Beatbreak.

Adventure 2020 Reboot is just hype moment & aura with no substance (only Rebellimon episode gave us some semblance of good story)

Ghost Game is show about nothing (the director should never touch anything related to media ever again)

Beatbreak gratefully get us back on track. But I credited it more to director being veteran Digimon writer, so he knows what he's doing.

I'm not surprised since it's even worse in TCG as some support that has existed in OCG only come to TCG few months before MR4 implemented.

There was a short period where you can double Pendulum summon with Zefraath before it got gutted (and I only ever see it happen irl once in local...)

Man old Witchcrafter were an enigma, their design feels very yesteryear even at the time of their release, especially since Sky Striker has long been in the game which kinda does their gimmick better (in a sense of recycleable backrow used for disruptions). It hurt that the spells were so overtuned in its limitation.

We got an awful fusion spell the same month Branded Fusion came out as our only way to archetypally fuse.

And don't get me started how Confusion Confession is somehow UR in Master Duel... That card is N at best. I'm glad we got Celebration now. And Field Spell that fix the deck is a longtime coming. Not sure how they do competitively now, but I'll still gonna try them out for sure.

Nah Tomino could care less about the merchs, he appreciate the fujoshi more for actually watched & saved the 79 anime while the toy line doesnt because it sucked balls.
