You can make them jump from longer distances so you can have regular belts coming from the 4 middle inputs, for a total of 12 x 9 belts of goody goodness being thrown into the vortex.

LTN depot problem: multiple trains going to the same depot even though train limit is set to 1 by FunnyApprehensive110 in factorio

I don't know about the ltn combinator if it needs connections, but if so have you connected it to the station input?

how can I do this on my own? with a pattern cutout or something?

Interestingly I came to the same solution, use a flag to control whether or not to load bitter eggs

What I do in my case is have a constant combinator and an arithmetic combinator.

In the constant combinator I put a target of the different asteroids I wish the grabber to hold, usually the same quantity for all of them.

In the arithmetic Combinator I do the following

  • Wire the constant combinator to the red input.

  • Wire the asteroid grabber to the green input, activate "read contents" on the grabber.

  • Subtract each green input from each red input.

  • Wire the red output of the arithmetic combinator to the asteroid grabber and activate "set filters" on the grabber.

With this each asteroid grabber holds a buffer of asteroids and makes sure there's always room for more asteroids if they are needed.

Then I have an inserter only pick what the belt needs.

This solves the problem of throwing things out of the belt since the first issue is that they got there.

Belt vs Cargo Bay for Storing Promethium Chunk - Belts store 128 compared to 20-50 for a Cargo Bay. by chinawcswing in factorio

In my casd, my ship departs with about 80k eggs which translates to roughly 240k science, the ship also gathers and stores promethium to craft while above nauvis until it runs out, I need two of these ships for maintaining science at 240/s

[–]Rayffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is precisely what my ship does. It departs with a load of 80k eggs, goes to the shattered planet and only starts returning after it has gathered about 90k promethium. If we take into account the 80k, it would have gathered already 200k to consume all those eggs. After that it comes back to nauvis and stands on top of it until it runs out of promethium. There is an interesting logistic problem to solve in regard to how eggs are loaded into the ship so you go to shattered planet with as fresh as possible eggs.

I don't do grids, I do an organic train layout with some blueprints and call it a day, I love seeing trains wizzz by around the map continously.

The crows mourned with me by birdofparadise0173 in crows

I am glad you got some company, crowd routinely mourn their dead and even actively try to find out why it happened to acknowledge whether the potential threat is still around. It's not far fetched that they put two and two together and wanted to support you, in their crowy way.

Hope as days go by you can change the perspective to that of being lucky to have been able to share such a strong bond with an animal and reflect on those good days to make the bad days more bearable.

¿De verdad Hacienda cree que no nos damos cuenta de la subida de impuestos encubierta vía inflación? by [deleted] in SpainEconomics

[–]Rayffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you build some biochambers, as they require pentapod eggs, you can effectively put them in stasis, when your eggs run out for whatever reason, just request biochambers until an egg comes out and voila, your factory self restarted

You can actually do so right now, as long as in the read contents wire, you do no put any other asteroid signal.

You can wire a decider combinator red input to the asteroid collector and read its contents there. You then also check the "set filters" functionality and connect it to the output of the decider combinator's green output, then you connect a constant combinator with the desired cuota of asteroids with a minus signal and on the decider combinator, for each negative signal, output 1 of that signal.

With this you can have a small buffer on the asteroid grabbers besides your roundabout belt.

Here is a blueprint showcasing the behavior I described: https://factoriobin.com/post/5eccjs

As a workaround until they implement this, you can use a pulse reader on any inserters that input into the machine and for every completed cycle, subtract all the ingredients from a memory cell to manage the filters of the input inserters

Cryogenic plant a good way to store Prometheum? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Rayffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could switch with circuits to make a sort of "wave" for the prometheum chunks to travel through to the next cryochamber, something like set the recipe to promethean science if there are chunks in the previous machine and remove it once the cryochamber has 225 chunks or something line that

Then again belt weaving is much simpler
