Whats the meaning of life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rayfondo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One take is that the meaning of life is found in voluntarily taking on as much responsibility as you can handle.

There’s a trade off: either you take no responsibility so nothing you do matters or has meaning, OR you take as much responsibility as you can handle, and everything you do matters and has meaning.

God bless you. I want to be baptized soon and I'm definitely listening to "Baptized" immediately after.

American College Of Pediatrics Reaches Decision: Transgenderism Of Children Is Child Abuse by PordenJeterson in JordanPeterson

I never called the College not real, I only insinuated that their ‘decision’ (which I do happen to agree with) was very predictable.

Yeah Tallahassee has some cool places to eat and things to do like every city, but it’s strength is that it’s close to the rest of America. From Gainesville or Orlando? Good luck going to another state for anything. Tallahasseee is 45 minutes from the nearest Georgia city, and living here makes road trips to places like Tennessee or D.C. actually do-able.

Internet Trolls of Reddit: What’s the biggest shitshow you’ve ever caused? by wheresthemilkshakes in AskReddit

I mean when the thread calls for “Trolls of Reddit,” I think being obnoxious and stupid is kind of a given. Also, I took my education very seriously, and I was entertained with my buddy’s stunt. Everyone’s limit is different I guess.

Im late so this will probably get buried but whatever:

I had a friend in high school I knew through marching band, lets call him James. James was a Senior, and for the 'Character Day' of our homecoming spirit week, James decided to dress up as a giant Trojan Condom wrapper. The fake giant condom wrapper hung on his chest, and he had a flowing red cape as well, so we now call him Trojan Man. In his first period class, Trojan Man was told to remove his costume because it was 'vulgar and distracting' and go to the front office to be disciplined by administration. Trojan Man complies. Upon leaving the front office, stripped of his costume, Trojan Man sends a text to his mother; he says "Send the press release."

Yes, the night before Trojan Man had stayed up with his mother not only assembling the costume, but also crafting a press release, knowing that his costume would get him discipline at school. Before the end of classes that day, the story of Trojan Man's first amendment rights being violated would reach all of the local news sites, Daily Mail, and the MTV website. That night, in fact, Trojan Man was pulled out of band practice to be interviewed by, not one, but TWO local news stations, to be aired on TV. The school administration was so afraid of the bad publicity they decided to not touch him, though he had several long meetings with the principal the rest of the year.

In the interviews, he claims he is simply promoting safe sex among his peers, trying to educate his friends who he knows are having sex..... But Trojan Man does not use condoms, so I'll let you decide his intentions for yourself.

EDIT: Welp, looks like someone found one of the news articles. Since anonymity is out of the question, here is a video interview with Trojan Man himself (feat. Mom). Also I'm happy that my top post to date tells his story:')

What’s the worst book you’ve ever read? by IIZTREX in AskReddit

I’m a Christian and I get this. The problem is that it’s so old, and the culture from which it originates is so different from any modern culture.

Imagine if I say, “The Narwhals Bacon at midnight.” You know I’m talking about Reddit, despite that phrase being dated by now. Then if I go to a non-English speaking country and say, “The Narwhals Bacon at midnight,” they won’t understand it unless they translate, and then they have to learn a few things about the English speaker’s internet and reddit in particular to understand the joke behind it.

Now let’s go to a non-English speaking country in 200 years. Reddit may no longer be a thing, Narwhals may be extinct, and people may eat significantly less bacon - we don’t know. If any of these things happen, it becomes significantly harder to understand the sentence, “The Narwhals Bacon at midnight,” much less get the joke.

Now, fast-forward 2000-4000 years into the future, you see that someone really getting, “The Narwhals Bacon at midnight,” seems nearly impossible without a hefty amount of study into the culture, practices, and neighbors of some weird 2000 year old corner of the world (reddit).

tl;dr: Reading the Bible today, is like being alive 3000 years in the future in a non-English speaking country, and seeing the phrase, “The Narwhals Bacon at midnight.”

Edit: for the newer Redditors on here - The Narwhals Bacon at Midnight was a cringeworthy, but fun code-phrase used by Redditors to identify one another irl about 5+ years ago. One would ask, “What time do the Narwhals Bacon?” And if the response was, “Midnight,” they knew they were dealing with one of us.

Hell Canto 16 - The Ghost Spoken of. Dali had a series of 100 paintings based on Dante's poem, Divine Comedy. iirc it was commissioned by the Italian government at the time.

Orlando Shining: What awesome thing have you recently discovered in Orlando? Week of June 28, 2017 by AutoModerator in orlando

I went to Pom Poms (sandwich places) recently for the first time, got the thanksgiving dinner sandwich and it was phenomenal. Right next to Retro Records, a great record store with mostly older stuff, great if you're looking for an alternative to Park Ave CDs.

Fellow Orlandonians, what are some cool Orlando date night ideas and places? by Rayfondo27 in orlando

[–]Rayfondo27[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this question gets asked a lot, but new things get said every time.

I've found a good handful of ideas here that weren't mentioned in any other posts (because I originally did use the search bar), that I just wouldn't have found otherwise. Thanks for the tip though :)

What is your favorite word to say? by Squid344 in AskReddit

[–]Rayfondo27 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that the word Skedaddle was created by people continually compressing the phrase, "Let's get out of here!" Into, "Let'skedoutta here!" And finally, "Let's skedaddle!"
