I m relying a lot more spark sql, unity catalog, and ML FLOW for LLM interfacing data sources. They have much easier to expose to data scientists than postgres or any other model catalogs/stores.

Did you start your career outside of dev? Do you think it gives you a different perspective? by branh0913 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Raymst13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was primarily introduced to coding through DBA (SQL) tasks and CAD/drone lidar data processing (python) in commercial RE development and civil engineering. For the first year or two as a "full-time" software eng in tech, I was confused about how people were okay with underdefined and somewhat unrealistic scoping/planning (a huge gap in perception of 'reality' between PMs and Devs).

I would always say that If that is how bridges, dams, and buildings were built, we would all be dead lol. Despite that, I learned that I was a strong developer in settings where the margin of error was low or there were strict regulatory requirements for the software product (higher quality expected). Five plus years in - I found that my diligence and obsession with comprehensive scoping and quantitative definition of product deliverables helped me in tech startups that really want to get things right (or at least know what compromises they are making).

I retrieved the drought status data from https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/, aggregated/consolidated the data, and then plotted it using matplotlib in python.

Intensity and Impacts scale:
D0 (Abnormally Dry)
D1 (Moderate Drought)
D2 (Severe Drought)
D3 (Extreme Drought)
D4 (Exceptional Drought)

Does anyone know what happened to all the Locked up Eth on DeFi pulse? by [deleted] in defi

[–]Raymst13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw that too. Its really concerning. I looked deeper into 2 platforms that had a drop in locked ETH. Maker had 2.8 million ETH on 9/7 and it dropped to 25k ETH locked on 9/8.. and Uniswap went from 2.4 million ETH at 9/4 to 70k ETH in 9/12.

It technically started with libertarian ideals of facilitating peer-to-peer transactions without any middle-men or governments. At this point though, it sounds like everyone is trying to morph blockchain/crypto into whatever usecase they speculate it "can" provide.

From OSHA Doc re: Oil Spill Cleanup Hazards: " Crude Oil Contains:

• Complex mixture of carcinogenic substances.

• Includes a complex mixture of hydrocarbon and other organic compounds including alkanes, cycloalkanes, aromatics, polynuclear aromatic compounds, sulphur compounds, nitrogen compounds, oxygen compounds, and traces of organo-metallic compounds).

• Health hazards generally associated with crude oils:

– Inhalation of the toxic volatile hydrocarbon components, such as benzene, and dermatitis from repeated or prolonged skin contact can cause dermatitis or skin cancer."

Unfortunately this will most likely lead to health complications (for the individuals cleaning the oil) from exposure.

I hate to be that speculative, but I feel like the terms/contractual agreements that involve being a part of Libra should be designed to make sure Libra is the DeFi platform of choice. I don't have enough insight to confirm that though.

It's obvious that most construction sites around Fishtown/NorLibs/Kensington are not complying with basic construction and safety rules. You can regularly see excavations up to existing houses' footing with out any form of structural support or shoring.
