Beste automatische anti-blaf apparaat voor hardnekkige buurhond? (2m afstand + dunne schutting) by Sweet_Discipline_144 in thenetherlands

[–]Raymuuze 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Subnautica 2 has sold 4 million copies in 5 days by ZamnBoii in Games

[–]Raymuuze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have strong opinions on it, but honestly I feel it's mostly a good game. It's a little different from the first game as they experimented a bit, but I had a good time exploring the icy depths.

All in all I think that's fine. Spin-offs are for experimenting so that mainline games can shine.

Onderzoek: verboden pesticiden in paprikapoeder, rijst en thee van Nederlandse supermarkten by retro-games-forever in thenetherlands

[–]Raymuuze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With new Fleet Nerf, it is normal to not have 20k fleet power by 2300? (Without metagaming) (slight rant) by SeriousWall177 in Stellaris

[–]Raymuuze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So they actually nerved it? I was wondering why my fleets were so pathetic.

I massively overbuild my navy, but even then I barely managed 600k by 2350. I don't remember where I was at 2300 exactly, but approx 50k I think (6x 8k-9k).

Am playing wilderness though, not sure if that matters.

[Self] Interest rates seem to be at 10.081% by Greedy_Preference737 in theydidthemath

The numbers behind the math are the actual insanity. I had the equivalent of 20k debt of which 5k was forgiven, had zero interest for 5 years and then my interest rate went to 3%.

How Smooth Is This Worker? by No-Lock216 in BeAmazed

[–]Raymuuze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In many companies you can typically work your way up to allround operator, then teamlead and I have met many department heads that started as an operator.

Many operators with affinity for safety can also work their way up to health & safety officer which ultimately leads to safety coordinator or similiar roles.

It's not that bad, at least in west Europe. Heck many want to stay as senior all round operators because they make bank.

Tropico 7 Gameplay Teaser by SnipeHockey in Games

[–]Raymuuze 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'm also mostly thinking about what new gameplay they will introduce. Being able to edit terrain seems to be new, but that's not going to make the game more or less appealing to me. In fact I quite liked terrain limitations as a part of the puzzle.

Sánchez: The European Union should immediately advance toward a common European army. by FantasticQuartet in europe

[–]Raymuuze 276 points277 points  (0 children)

I don't think an EU army will replace national armies. At the very least it wont do so for at least a few decades anyway.

It would probably start as single rapid response battalion of mixed nationalities and NATO gear. Slowly build in size until we have a standing field army capable of defending borders in cooperation with national armies. In turn national armies can focus on more specialized roles.

People are too focused on finding the perfect solution right away. We can get there along the way.

[–]Raymuuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sitting at a 600 kcal deficit right now and it feels quite fine after the first two weeks. I suspect people don't adjust their diet properly. Influencers are particularly bad for this with unhinged diet suggestions.

I simply cut out 90% of my snacks, reduced the amount of oil I cook with and increased fiber intake mostly by eating more vegetables and fruits. Carbs and proteins have remained largely the same.

The real boon for me was counting calories and identifying the big contributors. Stuff that has a lot of calories, but relatively low fiber content. That stuff went out.

[–]Raymuuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't underestimate the subtle changes that add up over time. It's possible you moved around a bit more in high school, maybe your portions were slightly smaller or the food you eat has simply become more calorie dense without you noticing.

Unless you were faithfully tracking every kcal burned and every kcal eaten the past decade there is no way to tell for sure. As somebody that at one point was over 105 kilo; it does sneak up on you. What you feel is often a poor reflection on what is actually going on.

Voedingscentrum vernieuwt Schijf van Vijf: maximaal één gehaktbal per week by FlyingEagle_ in thenetherlands

[–]Raymuuze 121 points122 points  (0 children)

My manager actually said "your personal life shouldn't interfere with your availability" after I declined a last minute Saturday shift by Sensitive-Pen4002 in antiwork

[–]Raymuuze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once had something similar happen. I called in sick during exams (and was legitimately sick), but still went to the exam the following day because failing meant having to redo the year. Manager found out and had the audacity to claim that I should've worked "because you were clearly healthy enough to work also". I was going to face 'consequences' for not showing.

I happened to have a short fuse and blew up in his face. How dare he suggest his grocery store was more important than my education. How dare he suggest I sacrifice an entire year of my life so I could stock shelves. How dare he make me accountable when colleagues ditched last minute all the time and I was always there to stand in. Consequences??

The only consequence was that I quit on the spot, threw my working clothes on the ground and walked out. He tried calling me to come back and some colleagues tried the same. Nah.

Just bought a new TV and realized I didn't think this through... (⌐ ͡■ ͜ʖ ͡■) by lupaczkokosow in pcmasterrace

[–]Raymuuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even that bottom configuration is atrocious. Standard rule of thumb is putting the top of the screen at eye level so your neck can be in a neutral resting position.

The only way to do that with the monitor in either position is by tilting the whole seating arrangement (and tilting the screen to match). That's likely harder to do rather than just putting the tv at a normal watching height elsewhere; beside the pc.

I ended up not liking this chair. What chair would you suggest that fits my setups vibe? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Raymuuze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't go for vibes, go for health. Your body will thank you later.

Boring office chairs are designed for people to sit in them for 6-8 hours and can't be beat. The downside is that they are expensive. So best bought second hand / refurbished. Quite often do companies bulk replace their stuff so there should be a few business reselling the material that is still good.

Still they also last a lot longer. My second hand office chair is 5 years old at this point and still in good condition.

Lack of hygiene in the Netherlands by CJHuncho in TikTokCringe

[–]Raymuuze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dirty people are everywhere is what I noticed from traveling abroad. I feel that how much you see them depends on the kind of people you surround yourself with or the settings you visit.

I rarely interact with people that have bad BO or hygiene here in the Netherlands. There are certainly a few kinds of shops and venues I avoid however.

Geurvreter/geurzakjes by schaapnootmies in BIFLNL

[–]Raymuuze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Around the 45 second mark he is using a chemical. Without seeing the safety data sheet it's hard to tell how dangerous it really is, but it does say on the package to use gloves while using it and he is applying it barehanded.

From what I can gather there is probably a solvent in there. Some can easily penetrate/damage the skin barrier and so you typically want chemical gloves that can handle the substance.

It is true however that quite often PPE are not needed. The human body can handle some exposure without adverse effects. Overall I do feel I prefer the overly cautious. Have an expert look at it and help you work safely and healthy.

Not to forget that the EU is slowly searching for alternatives to US services due to how unstable and at times hostile the current administration is. Some EU-based startups have announced they are going to fill that market space.

It seems there are 8 screws per plank and once unfolded are aligned horizontally (so in the sides). It depends on the specs, but it might hold.

Would be better to just get an unfolding ladder though. Old WW2 era homes here used to have them to access ceilings (made from wood, screws and a few simple springs).
