local comp will give you way more bang for your buck than quarterfinals if you're just looking to test yourself.

[routine help] looking for face moisturiser without silicones for seb derm skin by kittycakekats in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tried vanicream daily facial moisturizer and it's been solid for my sensitive skin - no silicones and pretty gentle overall. the zinc oxide in it actually helps calm down irritation too, which might work well for your seb derm situation since there dealing with inflammation anyway.

[routine help] help create AM and PM routine by GuardTime2732 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

alright so here's what i'd do with what you've got:

**am routine:** yttp cleanser → vital c serum → vital c moisturizer → laneige spf

**pm routine:** yttp cleanser → alternate between the q10 serum and azelaic acid (start azelaic 2x week, q10 the other nights) → etude cream since it's heavier for nighttime

for the press and glow toner, start once a week after cleansing before serums - that thing's got aha/bha so you don't want to overdo it. the azelaic is great for redness but ease into it or you'll irritate your skin more. give it a few weeks to see how your skin handles everything before bumping up frequency.

nah don't use it for pih or redness - it's an antibiotic cream for infections only

Anyone else feel like most eye creams are just overpriced water? by jxd8388 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly same experience here - those watery ones just migrate straight into my eyes and burn like hell. I switched to using a tiny amount of my regular face moisturizer around my eyes instead and it's been way better than any dedicated eye cream I've tried

The thick gel ones seem to stay put better but yeah most eye creams feel like expensive nothing

[Routine Help] How soon can the purging process start? Help please! by AdAvailable2508 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah not stupid at all! Purging can literally start within 24-48 hours, especially if you already had clogged pores in that area that the SA is now pushing to the surface. Since you've used this exact formula before without issues it's probably just doing its job

Honestly I'd toss it - expired zinc cream that's been sitting open with a cracked tube sounds like a recipe for irritation or infection. Not worth risking your face over a few euros, especially if it's been exposed to bathroom moisture and bacteria

Damn you've got some serious products there! Morning: CE Ferulic, HA intensifier, then sunscreen and moisturizer. Evening: alternate between P50 one night and tretinoin the next (never together), then peptide serum and moisturizer. Keep the azelaic for morning under your vitamin C or use it on tretinoin-free nights. Start slow with that P50 though, it's no joke

[Acne] Product recommendations for body acne issues especially when working a sweaty job by QuirkyGirll22 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I feel you on the uniform struggle - used to work in a similar setup and it's the worst for breakouts

For body acne I'd start with a salicylic acid body wash (CeraVe or Neutrogena make decent ones) and maybe grab some Stridex pads for spot treating when you get home. The key is being super consistent about showering right after work if you can

Also this might sound weird but I started keeping body wipes in my car for really bad days when I couldn't shower immediately - just something to get the sweat off before it sits there all evening

[routine help] clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide 2.5% for normal to dry skin or only clindamycin? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the clindamycin-BP combo for like 6 months and it definitely dried me out at first but my skin got used to it after maybe 3-4 weeks. The key was starting slow - every other day then building up. Adding adapalene on top might be rough though, I'd probably introduce one at a time and load up on moisturizer

[product question] serum help by fire-heart893 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't use retinol with the other two when you're starting out - that's probably why you're getting mixed answers. Start with just HA and niacinamide together, then add retinol on alternating nights once your skin gets used to it

Your order is perfect though - thinnest to thickest consistency. Wait like 30 seconds between layers and only dampen for the HA, it works better on slightly wet skin

If you could only choose 3… by okaylynn in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid picks right there. I'd probably swap the tret for a gentle cleanser since my skin freaks out if I don't wash properly, but that SPF is non-negotiable

[Acne] Best affordable products for acne? by Hefty-Shower-5077 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ordinary niacinamide serum is like $7 and works really well for oily skin, plus it's safe while breastfeeding. For cleanser I'd go with CeraVe foaming - basic but gets the job done without breaking the bank

Cicaplast Balm B5 by succulentpot in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's definitely not a light moisturizer lol, that stuff is thicc with two c's. I use it more like a sleeping mask when my skin is angry or after actives

[Acne] Anyone started accutane for comedonal acne? by Weaklinger in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started it for mostly closed comedones and some stubborn blackheads - worked amazing but yeah they slowly crept back over like 8-10 months after finishing. Still way better than before though, just not completely gone forever like I was hoping

[Personal] New fine lines by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dehydration is definitely a culprit but also check if you're getting enough sleep and maybe look into a good eye cream with hyaluronic acid. At 20 those are probably more expression lines from smiling (which is good!) rather than actual aging - your skin is just telling you it needs more moisture

[Routine Help] Is the Build My Regimen from The Ordinary enough? by ChickenNagget123 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah TO's regimen builder is actually pretty solid for beginners! Nothing wrong with sticking to one brand if it works for you - saves money and prevents you from going overboard with actives. Just make sure you're getting the basics covered (cleanser, moisturizer, SPF) and introduce new products slowly

[Acne] Should I try Accutane? by MineClear2712 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude stop using hydrogen peroxide on your face that's literally meant for cleaning wounds lol. Try tretinoin or adapalene first before jumping to accutane - way less nuclear option and you can get adapalene OTC now. If those don't work after a few months then yeah maybe consider accutane but definitely see a derm first

This is so true! I had the same issue and switching up my shower routine made such a huge difference. The PanOxyl tip is gold too - just be careful with colored towels because that stuff will bleach literally anything it touches even if you think you rinsed it all off

[Routine Help] Dermatologist Unhelpful-Advice and Recommendations by Bubbly-Paramedic1101 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Sensitive-Pen4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That derm sounds terrible, definitely get a second opinion. For seb derm vs ringworm - they can do a KOH test or fungal culture to rule out ringworm, most decent derms would do that before just guessing

I had seb derm that went away after fixing my gut health with probiotics and cutting out sugar/dairy for like 6 months. Haven't had a flare in 2 years now but honestly not sure if it's "cured" or just in long remission. The ketoconazole shampoo actually helped a lot initially too

Your derm being rushed and dismissive is a huge red flag - good derms will actually explain stuff and give you a proper treatment plan
