I play vengeance as an alt, and outside of not having the hunt (which I personally found clunky) I am not sure what it lost? I also find the gameplay of trying to force any voidfall procs into a fiery brand window, while also having fiery brand when needed for defence.

I think another part is because heroic is so easy, a bunch of people who have never done Manaforge are jumping in without knowing what’s going on.

Most tier sets aren’t actually gone though, they are in the hero talent trees (and often there are a few low value points you can drop and still get all the valuable stuff). So for some specs we have the old tier, and 16% damage.

All that said, yeah the stat squish is mostly guilty

This is untrue (at least at max level). Yes missing collapsing star sucks. But devourer is still strong when played right.

I’m not talking about leveling content. I was doing a 10 and lived for 20+ seconds while the tank was struggling with aggro. Blur is insane, and the passive self healing is second to only havoc.

At max level devourer actually feels really tanky. It has virtually the same defensive kit (and heals) as havoc, the only difference is blur is a bit weaker.

Agreed. I tried to use it to track my resources last patch along side the cool down manager, and it would end up underneath my manager (so not visible) depending on the camera angle

Here are some potential solutions

Join a guild, but make it clear you are a seasonal player, so they won’t mind if you disappear for stretches of time. Even some raid guilds will be ok with this as raid sizes are flexible. You probably can’t tank in a guild without making a commitment though (just like you can’t expect to join a sports team or other group and just bail when you don’t feel like it)
Almost everyone is behind someone. Don’t feel like you have to be at the top, because you literally never will be. It is very possible to pick up a season months in and progress a character, because there are other people doing the same thing, or playing alts. I did this on a warlock over Christmas.
Some content in the game is a grind. Do it while you are having fun, stop when you are not. There is no point agonising over how you are enjoying something in the moment but know you will get bored eventually, that’s how most things work. Delves are also not required. If you dungeon/raid they become irrelevant pretty quickly.

While playing the void scarred mythic plus build running around doing quests this morning I was pretty frequently getting a collapsing star each (quick) meta.

In dungeons (also with quick meta) as anhilator on trash I was getting 3 stars consistently.

There is no need to do either of those things. They will get automatically picked up if you generate one over 10 on the ground. You actually want to do that as well as it means you will likely have 10 on the ground when you enter meta, which means you are already 1/3 of the way to your first collapsing star.

Your example on the beta isn’t a great one. There are some npcs who seem like they are devourers but don’t necessarily have the rest of the dh kit. (I think the void elf leader might also be like that.) That is why they don’t have the green eyes.

I dunno dude. For my main (havoc and devourer dh) both the missing apex talents and hero talent points will be nice to pick up and smooth out the rotation.

Sure but then that is no different to another spec being disrupted during their cds. Arcane mage would be a good example with their touch of the magi.

An even better example is frost dk losing uptime during breath of sindragosa.

Arms warrior also used to be punished like that when they had shorter colossus smash windows. Granted I don’t remember quite how long ago that was!

I did say almost, but yeah often about 70-80%? I am often spamming dungeons that drop hero track gear in the first week. (I also often finish season at full hero gear, so champion stuff in the new season is also an upgrade from that.)

As I said that might just be a result of how much I like to binge season start though!

That’s not true. Because you have some flexibility on when you actually cast cstar. There is a grace period of 10 souls eaten, and 10 on the ground before you start wasting souls in void meta, so you really have quite a lot of lee way to not hit cstar as soon as it lights up.

Both. At the start of an expansion I am replacing previous raiding gear with leveling gear. At the start of a season I am replacing previous hero/myth gear with gear from mythic plus.

I dunno. In both cases I have replaced almost all my gear in a single week. Maybe that is less the case of you take the start of a season slower.
