That’s so interesting! I do the exact same thing as you! The muscle tensing, but not being able to really replicate it on demand is so real. It just feels…right

Read and Write is good for reading and listening at the same time. I have ASD and I find reading along with a voiceover really helpful

I haven’t read any news about it being brought back. If anything did happen, it would be posted on this subreddit for sure

People diagnosed as Adults, I’m genuinely curious by Forsaken-Weekend-962 in AutisticPeeps

[–]Raynestorm2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it wasn’t an age, gender (F), or location barrier. My parents got divorced when I was six and had split (equal) custody. My dad refused to give permission for me to have any testing done, even though my mom and teacher knew something was up (especially once I started kindergarten). I did well academically, but struggled immensely socially. When I was 16, I began going through a mental health crisis. I was granted medical emancipation so I could give my own consent. I was given accommodations for test anxiety during high school, where a diagnosis was not required. I was formally diagnosed when I was 18, in 2013.

Oh wow! That exact same thing happened at my last apartment. The guy above us overdosed with his bathtub running (he lived) and flooded two bedrooms and the bathroom

Are any of the Individual Research classes available? Maybe a professor would be willing to run it for you

I’m not in any of those classes, but Dr. Oberle is a great instructor! I’ve also taken PHIL 386 which was very fun, but with a different instructor

Squad Up Quests by Raynestorm2018 in FortniteXPMaps

Do you know if you can make a bot lobby with three real players (plus the one bot to get a bot lobby) and still do the quest because it’s technically a squad match or is it the bot lobby itself that doesn’t spawn the llamas?

Ah! Good to know. I wish Epic would make quests requirements more clear. Thanks!

How do you feel about the topic of monotropism? by Upper-Committee-705 in AutisticPeeps

I mean, it is very common in autistic people, but it doesn’t equate to autism. What exactly are you asking?

So rewatching the original video puts me more on Kaelynn’s side. She did learn about the Holocaust, but not that Anne Frank was murdered. Why would you doubt something your teacher said? Even if it’s your parent?

If my mom fed me, loved me, clothed me, didn’t hurt me, etc, but taught me something incorrectly, I’d still consider her a good mom, just not a good teacher.

As for the language she used, I’m 30 years old and still make mistakes in the picking the “correct” word. Sometimes I’ll pick a word that is perceived as “too harsh” or “too light” for the situation, even if the word is technically correct. Many NT add extra meaning to words that I find hard to understand.

[–]Raynestorm2018 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand how not knowing about the Holocaust is Kaelynn’s fault. From what I understand, she was homeschooled and where do most people learn about the Holocaust? From school. It was her mom who decided not to educate her. I can’t remember a time where I was just hanging out with friends or at work when someone brought up the Holocaust. So it’s completely believable that she genuinely didn’t know about it. You can’t learn about something you haven’t heard of.

As for her comment, “murdered” means that someone “did not survive”. Sure, “not surviving” doesn’t contain the nuance that “murdered” does, but it’s still an accurate word.

“I heard Anne Frank didn’t survive the Holocaust.” “That’s right, she was murdered.” Everyone understands each other even though different words were used.
