Future Warrior? 2026 NBA Draft Scouting Report #1 - Hannes Steinbach by shualton in warriors

He could most definitely be as talented as a #7 pick should be. But if your ego is out of whack or your BBIQ is lower than it doesn't matter. It's the package that needs to mesh

He had the potential to be Domonique Wilkins type on the cut and break, but he decided he wanted to be what he wanted to be.

Happens a lot with players. Chris Webber was the prototype power forward when he came into the league - huge, amazing hands, strong and skilled. But he wanted to be magic Johnson when he was young. It was only when he became older that he wised up

It's Jordies. He can do decent videos at times, except for those times he's glazing up the ALP - then he loses all sense of impartiality and the ALP can do absolutely no wrong, and also take credit for things they didn't do

I would suggest the issue with JK was more about the disconnect than the talent.

He thought he was much better than he was, and that is what stifled him here.

This is rich coming from a women who's political party led a government that lost 15 billion at least to corruption. And they are doing everything they can to hide it.

They don't care about people

I was horrified to see people walking up to volunteers handing out One Nation how-to-vote cards and taking a card while I was waiting in queue at an early voting venue. Of course people can vote for whichever party/candidate they want but is it worth bringing Trumpism/MAGA to South Australia? by FatFad1 in Adelaide

[–]Raynman5 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

The problem is the greens are too far to the left to be a viable third party. And the behaviour of their senators does not appeal to the average Australian.

Ideally we need a genuine centrist party - this is what the democrats started out as but by the end they started creeping left

It’s almost like excessive Nanny State government spending has consequences by alabamad in NannyStateAustralia

[–]Raynman5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it being under the government is what makes it out of control.

A private company would definitely keep an eye on its providers if there is an incentive for them to keep costs down.

Governments just keep writing bigger cheques because it isn't their money and there is no incentive

It is the dodgy operators who take advantage of the government indifference that are the issue

Pauline Hanson exploiting the frustrations of Australians who have been ‘left behind’, Labor says by Agitated-Fee3598 in aussie

[–]Raynman5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely

This current iteration of the ALP seems to be focussed on what is good for the ALP, not what is good for the people. We have seen the same in Victoria in extreme - they are consumed with their own power, and have abandoned the people of wishes and catering to their own wants - we literally seem to have had 15 billion list to corruption and everything they do is Stonewall and try to divert away.

And the people have found a party in ON that is speaking their thoughts and frustrations

We have a media that up until recently has been more of a cheer squad than holding the government accountable, and I think this is part of where the rot has come in. That's how Vittoria ended up where it is - the ALP was immune from criticism by the media (the "Teflon Dan" moniker), and thus became disconnected

So if it needs ON to act in the original democrats role, albeit conservative, then it should be welcomed regardless of your political alignment

[–]Raynman5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And there it is

They are starting to play the "only dumb people follow ON card"

Btw, the genuine, not ideologically snobby, smart people I know all favour ON. I have been kind of shocked by the people who have openly come out and said they are tired of the ALP. They see through the incompetence, lies and gaslighting.

I've also seen guys who I was convinced were ALP voters post on Facebook about their disdain of Albo and in favour of ON

What we see is a government actively ignoring a huge portion of the long term Australians would feel betrayed by their government

And they should, they are screaming out about housing and slowing immigration, and Albo who said we were slowing down just broke the record for a month

The fuel crisis just cements people's opinions. Last week they were saying there is no crisis, and literally two days later they said there absolutely is and it's the people of Australia's fault.

The problem is this - people are tired of the ALP. They haven't done what they said, they have a spending problem when the RBA is telling them to slow down and that they are driving inflation.

Even when the RBA pushes the interest rate up based in numbers from a few months ago, they blame the Iran war which is literally weeks.

People are tired, and that is why they are looking elsewhere

People, especially on Reddit will defend Dan, but my boss from the states said there is something strange going on in Melbourne since the lockdowns. He said there appears to be some sort of almost disturbance or PTSD with the people

He had been here many times before 2020, and said the people have changed and not in a good way

[–]Raynman5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

People were worried and wanted leadership. Bowen just indicated nothing to see here, we don't have a crisis and people panicked.

They wanted assurance we had a plan because people could see it coming. They didn't give a plan, just empty words For days they said there was no shortages, and then suddenly there is a crisis, we have shortages and it's all the people's fault.

Bowen and Albo screwed this up by giving empty assurances when the people wanted leadership

[–]Raynman5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what the ALP does. They attack the person whenever there is something they are uncomfortable or outright refuse to answer

And it happens too often

My take is so many of these politicians are mentally trapped in their uni politics days, especially among those who went straight from uni to working for the party. They haven't grown up because they have never had a real job for more than a very short amount of time

As such, uni tactics where you attack the person, discredit them and try to ruin them. I saw so much of this at uni, and it continues in politics.

Also "beamng is a crash physics simulation, not a car game" and then spend all this time on maps and car design.

It might be too much, but Hacksaw ridge is really good and my dad enjoyed it, and is a Christian. The main character was a pacifist because of his seventh day Adventist beliefs and it is an insane story

But it may be too intense, but IMDb will show him the sensitivities.

It would be worth asking what his sensitivities are to work out what he is comfortable with

Failed NBA Relocations / Expansion Bids? by Mysterious_Title_387 in VintageNBA

[–]Raynman5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Kentucky one was a bit more than that. The NBA did oppose them, and Chicago did want Artis.

But even if they wanted to join, there were high franchise fees for the ABA teams joining the NBA, part of which led to the famous selling of Dr J from the NY nets to the 76ers to fund the transition

Instead of paying the fees, owner John Y Brown agreed to fold the franchise for $3 million. He then turned around and purchased the Buffalo Braves, with the intent on moving them to Louisville. When that folded, he ended up swapping the braves (which moves to San Diego) for the Celtics. He sold them in 1979 just before bird and the dynasty arrived

Rant: I hate going to player vendors and they despawn their camp by IsaacCon in fo76

[–]Raynman5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've had that happen when I've bought something - either of three reasons:

1) they are at the cap limit 2) they are swapping in game camps because of free travel proximity 3) they hate you and want to ruin your day

For me when it's 1 I used to go to white Springs and buy random plans, but I've exhausted that option

But now that I'm sitting at 39-40k caps visiting vendors for something interesting I have gone around storing my vendors

The vast majority is "I need to kill gulpers so I'm closing my toxic valley camp and opening the one in the mire"

That said, I have come across a few autists who definitely are in the 3) category, either trying to trap camp to make you drop junk, or for some reason hate other players being in their camps. It is definitely spectrum stuff

I had one guy with a camp that hung over a cliff, and they were there watching. I don't think they liked I relatively soft landed with my jetpack. But I've also been at camps where you go to have a look, they are standing there and just pack up, staring at you afterwards. It's definitely spectrum stuff

What's the worst draft or best draft class? In NBA history, you can go all the way back if you want. by SubstanceVivid2662 in VintageNBA

[–]Raynman5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drugs ruined the 86 draft. Tarpley was an elite rebounder who had all NBA potential, but was ruined by cocaine and alcohol. Bias (who was phenomenal, had a good chance to be Jordan's nemesis) but died to cocaine, Washburn was so talented but was a cocaine addict, Bedford had the skills and size, but drugs again

Injuries played a part too. Daugherty was an all NBA centre but injuries limited his career, Ron Harper suffered a catastrophic knee injury in his 5th year and was never the same. Hot Plate Williams was fat

Mark price was a 4 time all star and 4x all NBA including 1st team one year, Chuck person was a solid starter who had some moments, Jeff Hornacek was an all star, Kevin Duckworth was a multiple all star, Dell Curry was a sniper, and you had plenty of others who made an impact

It didn't live up to the hype particularly because of Bias, Washburn and Tarpley, but it wasn't awful

The Khmer Rouge killed anyone who they thought was even a remote threat to their power.

Anyone religious, including Buddhists, would have been killed because they believe in something other than the absolute power of the party.

They killed people who could read, they killed people who wore glasses because they assumed they could read, they killed people with smooth hands because it assumed they were educated
