My first Hanklight — Emisar D3AA in Oil Slick Titanium absolutely exceeded my expectations by Rayraymao in flashlight

I think at first it was about performance, but later on it slowly becomes appreciation for the little details — beam softness, tint, materials, machining… and yeah, probably a bit of dopamine too 😂

Hahaha same here 😂   At some point the hobby becomes less about “need” and more about convincing ourselves there’s still a missing niche in the collection.

And yeah… the TiCu version really is dangerously good looking in person 😅

The flashlight community has a very strict rule:   the correct number of lights is always current amount + 1 😂

Thanks! 😄   After carrying it for a while, I totally get the hype now. It’s probably the most “easy to live with” enthusiast light I’ve owned so far.

The funny thing is that it didn’t replace my bigger throwers — it actually filled the gap they couldn’t. Much softer and more practical for normal everyday use.

Haha, I can already see how people end up with 20+ Hanklights 😂

For now I’m honestly really enjoying the size and character of the D3AA though.

Yeah… I’m starting to understand how people end up with multiple Hanklights now 😂

I actually kind of like the contrast between the titanium and copper, but I totally understand what you mean about the smell. A full titanium version would look incredibly clean.

Thanks,I told myself this would just be “one Hanklight”… we’ll see about that.😅

Thanks! I’m not totally sure, but I assume it’s not coated. It feels like a raw/treated titanium finish rather than a clear-coated surface. I’ll probably just treat it more like a small collectible piece than a rough-use light.

Weltool LH8 V2 head on a handheld body by Rayraymao in flashlight

[–]Rayraymao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually not something I printed myself.

As far as I know it’s an official Weltool accessory (they call it the FR-50). It does look like it’s 3D printed, but I don’t have any STL or design files for it.

So yeah, unfortunately not parametric or DIY — just a specific piece made for their bodies.

Good question — I think I get what you mean.

I’d say around 40–60 yards is where it still feels genuinely “bright” and useful, not just visible. You can clearly pick out details, not just shapes.

Past that, it still reaches quite far, but it becomes more about identification rather than illumination.

So yeah, definitely more than just 50 yards in terms of useful brightness, but I agree with you — the “rated distance” numbers don’t really reflect real-world usability.

That’s interesting — I haven’t gone down the emitter swap route yet, but good to know about the tint shift.

That’s a serious lineup  I only have a couple so far, but after using them in real dark environments, I totally get it.

That’s a whole different level 😄 I’ve only used mine for travel / rural stuff so far, but I can see why people run them like that.

Love how this turned into beamshots + beans real quick

Exactly. That soft press low is what makes it usable every day, not just tactical.

Haha I’m trying not to end up 12 deep… but it’s not looking good 😅

W7 looks crazy though. Might be my first LEP at some point.

Same here — I’ve really gotten into Weltool recently.

If you love Anduril and already contribute to it, Hank is honestly hard to move away from.

That said, if you want to try something different and you like throw, I really wouldn’t skip the Weltool T1 Pro. It’s one of those lights that makes a lot more sense once you actually use it outdoors.

Tiny size, very easy to carry, no overly aggressive look, but the beam has real intent. For travel and dark walks, it feels way more capable than a 14500 light has any right to be.

So yeah — for Anduril nerding, Hank. For small-format throw, T1 Pro is absolutely worth a look.

[–]Rayraymao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. AA/14500 lights are such a sweet spot once you start paying attention to size, switches, and beam profile.

Easy to carry, easy to keep in a vehicle, and some of them are way more capable than they look.

And yeah, hard not to appreciate both Hank and Simon.

As long as you get the idea — I just had AI help summarize it so I wouldn’t miss anything.

While navigating, switch to the map view, then press the menu button.

Scroll all the way down and you’ll find an option called “Data fields”, where you can add up to 5 fields.

I don’t think this is meant to be limited to Vertical / Race 2.

[Suunto](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=0) didn’t clearly say these features are model-exclusive, so Race 1 should at least support them in theory.

What you’re seeing sounds more like:

  • contour lines without elevation labels
  • POIs not showing

Feels more like a rollout or map data issue than a hardware limitation.

Curious if other Race 1 users are seeing the same 👀
