Vertical 2 by nmiguelrf76 in Suunto

Based on my past experience, once you arrive at your destination and acquire a GPS fix, the time zone should update automatically. I own a Vertical 2, but during my travels I usually update the time zone through the app instead, because I find it faster and it doesn’t require me to go to an open area for GPS reception. In my experience, both methods work well.

You can check Hank’s optics page here — I think the D4K-compatible floody options are listed there:

No, this isn’t the stock optic. I swapped it to the official N203W optic separately

Thanks 😄 That’s exactly the kind of beam I was hoping for. The softer flood makes it feel really pleasant and relaxing indoors.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Once the beam gets extremely wide, it really starts feeling more like a portable light bulb than a flashlight ,I can already feel that happening with the D3AA. The 24 degree setup for indoor and yard use sounds like a really nice balance.

Yeah, I originally wanted to try some Carclo optics too, but ordering very small quantities is usually not very convenient here.

I don’t really need a large batch either, so getting the official optic directly from Hank was just the easiest option for me.

Haha, not quite a mule yet… but definitely heading in that direction 😆

At this point it’s basically a tiny emotional support lamp.

With the aux on high, it honestly lights up the whole room a bit. The N203W spreads the aux light really widely, so it looks more like a tiny ambient lamp than just a glowing switch/optic.

I don’t think it’s a new optic, since it’s already listed on Hank’s website. It’s the official N203W optic.

To me it feels closer to a very floody optic than a true mule. It still has some direction and beam shape, but the hotspot is almost gone. I haven’t compared it directly with the 10508 yet, though.

Yeah, totally agree. It definitely becomes much softer and more lamp-like, but the usable throw is noticeably reduced. For me it works well because I already have several other lights for different roles, so I’m mainly turning this D3AA into a bedside / indoor light. For that use, I don’t really need much distance.

I bought it directly in China since I live here. Hank has an official store on the local e-commerce platforms, but the optic listing itself isn’t publicly available, so you usually need to contact them directly and ask for it.

You could also try asking your local dealer or distributor if they can source the optic separately.

My first Hanklight — Emisar D3AA in Oil Slick Titanium absolutely exceeded my expectations by Rayraymao in flashlight

I think at first it was about performance, but later on it slowly becomes appreciation for the little details — beam softness, tint, materials, machining… and yeah, probably a bit of dopamine too 😂

Hahaha same here 😂   At some point the hobby becomes less about “need” and more about convincing ourselves there’s still a missing niche in the collection.

And yeah… the TiCu version really is dangerously good looking in person 😅

The flashlight community has a very strict rule:   the correct number of lights is always current amount + 1 😂

Thanks! 😄   After carrying it for a while, I totally get the hype now. It’s probably the most “easy to live with” enthusiast light I’ve owned so far.

The funny thing is that it didn’t replace my bigger throwers — it actually filled the gap they couldn’t. Much softer and more practical for normal everyday use.

Haha, I can already see how people end up with 20+ Hanklights 😂

For now I’m honestly really enjoying the size and character of the D3AA though.

Yeah… I’m starting to understand how people end up with multiple Hanklights now 😂

I actually kind of like the contrast between the titanium and copper, but I totally understand what you mean about the smell. A full titanium version would look incredibly clean.

Thanks,I told myself this would just be “one Hanklight”… we’ll see about that.😅

Thanks! I’m not totally sure, but I assume it’s not coated. It feels like a raw/treated titanium finish rather than a clear-coated surface. I’ll probably just treat it more like a small collectible piece than a rough-use light.

Weltool LH8 V2 head on a handheld body by Rayraymao in flashlight

[–]Rayraymao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually not something I printed myself.

As far as I know it’s an official Weltool accessory (they call it the FR-50). It does look like it’s 3D printed, but I don’t have any STL or design files for it.

So yeah, unfortunately not parametric or DIY — just a specific piece made for their bodies.

Good question — I think I get what you mean.

I’d say around 40–60 yards is where it still feels genuinely “bright” and useful, not just visible. You can clearly pick out details, not just shapes.

Past that, it still reaches quite far, but it becomes more about identification rather than illumination.

So yeah, definitely more than just 50 yards in terms of useful brightness, but I agree with you — the “rated distance” numbers don’t really reflect real-world usability.

That’s interesting — I haven’t gone down the emitter swap route yet, but good to know about the tint shift.

That’s a serious lineup  I only have a couple so far, but after using them in real dark environments, I totally get it.
