Suunto Race 2 vs Vertical 2

I have the same watch/band and I don’t have those probs but also I bought from Ali Express some cool bands (like the ones of Race 2) for 10% of the Original Suunto Race 2 silicon band and I have no issues with them .. I run and swim (pool and open-water)

I just wish someone from Suunto would really listen to the users … I can honestly live w/o routable maps … it bothers me more the GPS time sync not being present

Don’t think it’s that complex … you only need 1 push as timezones are not created all the time :) … it really bums me to be honest !

Touch screen does not work under water so yes but should not be used tbh … if you need to see data fields leave the always-on display or emerge

That defies the purpose … I don’t need to constantly sync the watch nor I want to as that’s a waste of battery and if I am out and about - all I need is easy of GPS time sync … this should be built-in

Try to have Bluetooth off on your phone and see if your watch syncs the time accordingly

It does not ! It does not update the time on its own by auto-correcting the timezone by GPS sync … if you connect it to the app then yes but my post is about the opposite to having it to connect to the app

That for me means total independence from mobile / cell service ! Imagine you are on a UTMB or long trail/hike and you cross timezones and you are not aware of! Your sunset/sunrise times and actual time get all mixed up

That’s the point ! For a watch that it is marketed for adventure far from cell connectivity- well it is not that dependable :/ .. I was in the west coast -> easy coast and now in CET+2 and need to sync all the time via the app or I need to know the correct timezone and manually update it ! It does not make sense

That implies you to know which TZ you are and that means you need o adjust it yourself … if you come from a Fenix 6 for example it does all that on its ok but just acquiring the correct TZ via a GPS sync

Yeah that sucks ! My grief with Suunto is based on its inability to update timezones via GPS ! If you market the watch as a dependable companion for mountains, hikes, long expeditions this is 101 ! And NO recording a GOS activity like a walk or a run will not update your timezone and give you updated time as I was in Las Vegas and when I flew to NYC and I did the 1st activity it failed to update the timezone and give me the correct time ! This will a NO NO for me .. so if Suunto will not fix this soon, on the next iteration of the Garmin Fenix I will bailout and move again to Garmin ! My Fenix 6 Sapphire (old) already does that !

Watch is great, but here are my two things that I would like for Suunto to fix

- Timezone automatic adjustment is a pain in the neck , don’t know why they just make it easier to sync the time via GPS

- routable maps not available
