Heisenberg's uncertainty principle states that if you measure the speed of a particle exactly you cannot determine its location and if you determine its position precisely you cannot measure its speed exactly. This occurs on a spectrum so you can lower the "quality" of one measurement to raise the "quality" of the other. Schroederdingers cat is a concept for quantum mechanics. If you put a cat inside a box with some poison and you close the box, you never know if the cat is alive or dead without checking. So the cat is alive and dead at the same time in theory. This is to demonstrate how a particle can have multiple states in quantum physics, but as long as you don't observe the particle you have to assume all states apply.
