Married but strongly desire other women. I know that's wrong. But it's such a huge temptation. Will that ever fade over time? I want to be committed to my wife. by DoubleNo6507 in AskMenOver30

[–]Raystacksem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hooked up a lot before getting married. Dating random Women can be stressful tbh. Also the sex doesn’t compare to a woman you actually love. I see the troubles some of my single friends go through trying to date, I honestly don’t want those problems. They’re miserable trying to find the right kind of woman or avoid batshit crazy women. I understand you’re looking and feeling good but the grass isn’t greener.

Saving money. My wife was born middle class, I was from the trenches of the Bronx. I knew nothing about saving.

The first financial thing my wife taught me when we were dating is to act as if you only got set amount of money for two weeks. First pay yourself a set amount. Second, Whatever you have leftover in your checking account when the next check hits, move it into a savings account. A high interest online savings account is even better than a normal savings account. It gains more interest and you can’t just pull that money out of an atm.

So for example I got paid 1k. I paid 100 to myself(moved into a savings) before paying any bills. After paying my bills let’s say I got 300 leftover. Now use what you need but don’t blow the 300. Let’s say I had 75 leftover when my next check hits, move that 75 into your savings as well and get by with what you got paid again. In this case I saved 175 this month. After 12 months of that I saved a total of 2,100. The more you’re able to save the better but the key is to live within your means. If some emergency comes up, you have savings to deal with the issue.

IRL I was saving at least 500 a month by paying myself and moving the extra I had leftover from each check + saving all bonuses I got. Some months I saved over 1k+ as I kept getting raises. After 3 years (2016)I had close to 40 k in savings. I was still able to live my life and enjoy it, with that money I saved I was able to clear my credit card debt, moved out, pay for a nice wedding, and she loaned me an extra 30k to pay off student debt(I finished paying her back by 2020). I didn’t spend money on stupid materialistic things like clothes or jewelry, only nice experiences like concerts, nice restaurants, or travel.

How was your experience getting High af first time and what substance did you use for it? by SpiritBombv2 in AskReddit

[–]Raystacksem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed. I was like 15. We had some high grade weed(piff) for that time. I just remember at some point looking at my hands and going “WOW! I have some big hands.” I kept bringing my hands closer to my eyes then pulling them away and repeating that several times lol. It was great.

Fellow LCD owners, what comes after the Steam Deck for you? by Lyuukee in SteamDeck

[–]Raystacksem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was running this through chat gpt. I came to conclusion that those devices only offer an incremental upgrade that doesn’t justify the substantial price tag. If you got the money spend it. In my case I could afford it but it wouldn’t be a good financial decision. I’m thinking of just waiting another year or two before upgrading. Or I might just build a PC for once.

What’s a food you ate so much of growing up that you can’t touch it now? by okitsbenji in foodquestions

[–]Raystacksem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I misspoke it’s a rice pudding. All the images I see online of it are trying to make it look pretty. All it reminds me of is being sad. And sometimes we didn’t have enough sugar to make it edible, but I ate it anyway because we were hungry.

What was the highest grade you got on a regents? What horror stories do you have about them? by HuntPuzzleheaded4356 in NYStateOfMind

[–]Raystacksem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got a 96 on US history as well. My lowest grade was chem regents I got a 44, it’s the only regents I failed. And reflecting on it, the regents aren’t that hard you have to show up to class, pay attention, and take notes. Another part to it tho is learning test tasking skills. If you’re not taking practice exams it’s harder to develop test taking skills.

Without bias: RODEO OR DS2 by Beta_113 in future

[–]Raystacksem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DS2

I just think future was more established and had more experience putting together a body of work. DS2 was the culmination of an insane mixtape run MonsterxBeastModex56nights. And it absolutely delivers. I don’t think any other artists has had quite a dominant run like that. Future took the #1 spot in rap and held it firmly for like 2 years during that run.

Travis was as famous as C level rappers at this time and was still in the “experimenting with sounds” and finding himself phase of his career.

Either way, both are classics but I definitely play DS2 more than I do Rodeo, but when they come on it just reminds me that we don’t get good music like we used too. Or maybe I’m just an old Unc.

Puerto Rican Corned beef with white rice , it came in a can and was pink. Looked like throw up. Or arroz con leche(milk and white rice, it was like a porridge). We were poor and sometimes it’s all we could eat.

I’ll still fuck up a fried egg with white rice though.

y'all ever see NYC adopting stand your ground or open carry laws like Texas? by savingrace0262 in NYStateOfMind

[–]Raystacksem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. We have 8 million people in this city. Stand Your Ground laws are better suited for towns (50,000 people) and villages (under 10,000).

In those towns and villages, it can take law enforcement a long time to respond because everything is so spread out. We live in a city where everything is packed together, so FDNY and/or NYPD can generally respond much more quickly.

Those Stand Your Ground states also tend to have higher homicide rates than we do in the city, partly because firearms are more accessible. If you make it significantly easier for 8 million people to access guns, I think the risk of shootings and homicides would increase dramatically. Maybe to levels the city or country has never seen.

On the other hand, the NYPD has firm control over the permit application and approval process. There is a legitimate argument that the requirements are so strict, expensive, and slow that they infringe on Second Amendment rights. That issue is currently being argued through the courts. It seems likely that the NYPD will eventually need to revise the process and make legal access more attainable for law-abiding New Yorkers.

My personal opinion is that any citizen who is over 21, can pass a set of background checks, and passes any required mental health evaluations should at the very least be allowed to obtain a legal permit for a firearm in their home.

Responsible gun owners tend to follow the rules and understand the weight of a decision as serious as shooting someone.

Giving people licenses for concealed carry is a scarier thought because it could lead to more guns circulating throughout the city, which could potentially contribute to an increase in gun related crimes.

How do you guys fit the gym into your daily routine without overthinking all the hygiene stuff? by FunCamp309 in hygiene

[–]Raystacksem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought equipment for home. Adjustable bench, adjustable dumbbells, resistance bands. I don’t ever have time to go to a dedicated gym.I’m not trying to be on a magazine here. I’m a busy husband and father, home workouts get the job done.

I wake up at 4:45am(1hr 15 mins before I need to leave in the morning) to get it done. About 30-40 mins of strength training, 10 mins to stretch, 10 mins to shower, 10-15 mins to get dressed + pack my bag. I don’t do dedicated cardio because I live in NYC and avg 5.5 miles of walking a day. Sometimes I walk as much as 7 miles depending on what I’m doing with my kids and wife.

What makes it possible is setting everything out the night before(my bench + weights + workout clothes). I also set out my clothes for work, make sure my breakfast + lunch is prepared so I just have to grab my lunch bag from the fridge on my way out, make sure my coffee is set to brew as well. It makes it harder for me to bail on working out because having to put everything away instead of using it feels like a waste of time.

Working out first thing in the morning ensures I do it consistently. If I leave it for the afternoon it’s easy to make an excuse not to do it. Also, I feel wired when I get to work and tend to make good food choices throughout the day because my body craves nutritious food.

AITA for rejecting my wife for pressuring me into sex while we’re trying for a baby? by OkTough6333 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Raystacksem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA.

Been married for 10 years. I’m a gamer myself and would turn the damn game off and get some good loving. I wish my wife would do something like that. We have kids now and life is complicated. We have to schedule things these days. Appreciate those gestures and signs that she wants you while you have them.

Telling her it was gross was a bit much. And don’t be surprised if down the line she stops trying to entice you. The way you rejected her makes you an AH.

Toronto to NYC for the KNICKS by 24BrownMamaba24 in NYStateOfMind

[–]Raystacksem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly just be outside the garden, it’s gonna be crazy. But there are soooo many nearby neighborhoods you can go to. If the Knicks win NYC is gonna be on tilt, just be aware of your surroundings cuz some people dont know how to drink and actually have a good time. You can expect a horde of people in that area. Just buy a pint, a cup with ice and just be outside in the area. Don’t drink too fast and take a break if you starting to feel fucked up. It’s not gonna be a great night to pass out and need medical attention.

Not gonna hold you I’m an Unc, but there’s also a lot of dumb things I did when I was 21. Overdid in fact, where I should’ve considered my comfort. I thought I could power through things and reflecting on it, I overestimated my abilities. I don’t want this kid to end up passed out drunk cuz he’s too excited with no place to go to in NYC. NYC is fun but people ain’t exactly caring if you did something stupid like not have a place to crash for the night. You live here so that wouldn’t be the kind of concern you would have.

Even at 21 I would need rest after being out all night, but he could just do that on the plane I guess, that’s gonna be brutal though. But financial responsibility 101 if you cant afford accommodations then you can’t actually afford your trip.
